Had it with my HRM! Need new model advise for iPhone!

Wednesday, June 05, 2013

HELP!!!! I have had it with my HRM. It doesn't take my HR half the time and it isn't a nice hands free model. I don't have a ton of money to spend on one right now, but I have to be able to keep track of my workouts and it is a piece of equipment I really need. I really want one that will connect wirelessly with my iPhone and put all the information in there for later. I currently have an iPhone 4, but will certainly upgrade eventually so I need something that will make the transition too. Do anyone have a recommendation?! I could maybe go a max of $100, but I want to keep the price low if possible while still getting a great product!

I really like the Polar H7 Bluetooth HRM....$60 from Amazon

It'll hook up to the Blutooth on iPhone 4S & 5, as well as to the receiver on most gym fitness equipment....I don't think it works with a slick iPhone 4 though

If that's not to your liking then the Polar RS100 is a good solid model...won't hook up to an iPhone though

My first Yoga experience

Saturday, June 01, 2013

Today has been a day of firsts and amazing motivation. A new club has opened up in Columbus that specializes in the Herbalife program. You can go in and for a fee get a shake, tea, and aloe shooter. This is my second week going there and already I feel like it is going to become a regular hang out for me while on this journey. Today they worked with me to determine my overall health. I'm going to post all those measurements monthly so we can see together how I end up doing. Today's number were of course not great by any means, but some of the things I'm already doing for myself are right on track!

After this, I met up with a co-worker friend who is getting her Yoga certification to teach. She is using me as a guinea pig right now to get her hours, but I'm reaping the real benefits by being able to have one on one instruction. My body is already feeling it and I know I will be sore tomorrow, but I'm so proud that even when I thought in my brain, "There is no way I can do that yet," I tried anyway and made sure I proved that was true. In more cases than not, I came very close to either having it or I found I was able to do it. She was quite impressed with my level of flexibility already despite my weight.

Overall was a great day and I'm enjoying just relaxing this evening.

That is exactly why I didn't try to teach myself. Getting the one on one instruction is great because there were certain things I didn't do right at first and she was able to point them out to me before I injured something. It is going to take a lot of work to get to the point where I'm really good at things and doing them properly without having to really think, but overall I think I did a really good job for my first time. I didn't let the doubt in my head keep me from at least giving it a try.

I have always wanted to try yoga. I tried a sparkpeople video but would really like to do it in person to make sure I am doing it right.

The Power Campaign

Friday, May 31, 2013

I guess it is time to make a plug for my new SparkTeam page! The full details are on the page, but in brief, when I started making changes to my life a couple months ago, I realized I needed a rallying cry! I needed something extra to motivate me and capture the journey. What was born from this was the Power Campaign known as P2 for short. What this campaign is is my realization that everyone has the power to become what they want to be. While I extend this mostly to my health for right now, I used to look at fit, toned women and tell myself I could never be like that woman. I was fooling myself though! I totally have the power to change my life. I'm in control of my health and well being. The campaign is my journey, but it is also a journey I am inviting others on. It doesn't matter what your goals are. If you want to get healthy and realize your vast potential, this campaign is for you! If interested, jump over and join the Team! http://teams.sparkpeople.com/P2CML

Friend list sweep

Friday, May 31, 2013

I was saddened to find that almost my entire friends list had become inactive. While I hope they haven't given up on a healthier life, I have decided to make a clean sweep of my friend's list. If you are one of the people I used to connect with reading this, please let me know and I will re-add you. It doesn't make sense to me to keep a whole list of people who aren't even on here anymore.

I guess what this means is I am now accepting new friend invitations of people who are currently active and involved on the site.

Were you one of the people from my friend's list?

Occasionally I have to delete people of my friends list. There's one that has changed her handle at least 10 different times since I've been on SP.

Get it Girl!

Tuesday, April 02, 2013

Sitting here jamming to "Life is a Highway" I realized I haven't posted about my new slogans for the P2CML campaign. So, P2CML stands for Power 2 Change My Life. I call this campaign P2 for short. Whenever I work out, I call it POWERING UP and my new video blog about my journey is known as the Power Diaries. In additional, many pictures I'm taking after workouts, etc have me making a peace sign. No, I'm not wishing for world peace, it is my sign for Power 2. Whole lot of POWER going on, but I think it is appropriate. How often in life do we feel powerless and to an extend, life will happen however it will; there is nothing we can do to change it. But one thing I DO have power over is my health. I have chosen the power of laziness and being appathetic in recently years. This time around, I want to chose to be active and always working toward a goal. Thus, Power is the name of this journey.
