I keep on Keeping on!

Monday, April 06, 2009

Scale doesn't go down, but still isn't going up either! Last week I didn't get my 90 minutes of exercise, first time in 8 weeks, will have to start a new streak, I was close but not on target. I feel good and am enjoying new workouts. The "blog" about trying new DVD's through net-flex was great, I've tried several different work outs and breaks up the routine as well as works muscles in several different ways.

I think I missed my streak too. I worked 5 days last week and it set me back. Today I'm cleaning and need to start a new streak also. Good luck! emoticon

The Scale has been put in it's place - Month 2 - week eight.

Sunday, March 22, 2009

The last several weeks I've allowed myself to be ruled by the scale. I thought when I began my new way of life, the scale won't be bothering me, that was because I was loosing a 1-2 lbs/week at the time. Then about 3 weeks ago I started having fluctuation's, up 3 lbs, down 4, up 5 ect.. Well the scale was in control of my Sunday's and they weren't fun. Sometime last week I decided, to heck with the scale, bought a heart rate monitor and went off on my NEW WAY of life. I know what I'm doing IS healthy, the weight will eventually come off, and I FEEL so much better. My energy level is so much higher, I'm wearing a size smaller pants, my kids 1 boy and 2 girls like to exercise with me, which is huge! The scale has now just become another tool, necessary to an extent, but not the whole story. Yesterday I even took my first day off from "The Spark" this is what I've learned:

1. Its necessary to have a day of no measuring, no counting, and no worrying.
2. Just because I took the day off, I didn't eat or want to eat Big Mac's or eat an entire cake.
a. That just because I didn't run to the computer to write everything down, didn't mean I was
going to eat very differently.
3. My new lifestyle was already becoming a habit and that means even though I haven't hit my goal weight, I'm already successful.

Thank you sparkpeople, and thank you to all of you who are my friends and mentors, I'm looking forward to the rest of this journey with all of you.

That's so great! Good for you!

I, too, use the scale as just one tool. I don't get too down when it's not doing what I want! I know I'm healthier & getting smaller - the scale just might not reflect that.

Keep it up!

Way to go!! By the way, where did you get your heart rate monitor and how does it work for you. I have been thinking of getting one, but didn't know if I really needed one and which ones work well etc, etc.

Maybe we could plan one day a week to do some exercise together emoticon

Great blog!!!!!! You realized that the scale is not what you should be looking at. I had to resort to getting that measureing tape out. I found that measuring my waist, hips, etc gave me the better motivation than the scale. Good for you and keep up the good work.

I'm not a quitter, I'm getting Fitter!

Tuesday, March 17, 2009

Yesterday's blog was a little pitty party, and thanks to all who responded with kind remarks and advice, I got back on the horse yesterday, and decided I wasn't a quitter. I've done that too many times in the past, didn't do well enough, quick enough and gave up. I am doing the right things and eventual the weight will have to come off. I'm keeping up the healthy eating and exorcise. I'm going to try not to live by the scale.

We all get in the dumps every so often. Thank you for your nice comment on my sparkpage. Yes, I was going no where on my weight scale for almost 3 months. I finally started moving again once I upped my cardio and watched my sweet intake. It is nice to see the scale moving but the inches off is even nicer.

Give it time! I'm sure it will come off, it may just take longer than you thought! Just know that what you ARE doing is good for your body. Are your clothes feeling looser? Maybe you're gaining muscle.

Don't let it get you down- you are doing great. Push through this little obstacle.... the time will come when you don't even remember being at 204. Good for you for doing this

The beginning of Week 6

Monday, March 09, 2009

Well on to another week with Sparkpeople, I'm down 6lbs, need to kick up the exercise part of the routine, last couple weeks I've been doing "just enough". I feel much better, I've not needed a sleeping pill since week 2! That's progress, and I'm not hungry all the time. I realize now that my body was hungry for the right food, so things are moving in the right direction.
