Weekend on the Oregon Coast with the Kids

Monday, June 28, 2010

Last week we took our vacation with My sons family to the Oregon Coast (SEASIDE). This turned into a Great week. We left home Monday AM and got to the beach that afternoon.

The expression on Maddie & Izzie's faces were priceless when they saw us.

This was the first day.. Maddie was pretty impressed that we could dig and find water.

that night we gathered the fire wood we brought and had a nice fire & watched Izzie Play & Maddie took grandpa for a walk.

The next day after playing in the sand Jack & I were walking back to our hotel room and ran into my cousin & his family. We were shocked to see them, as we didn't know they were on vacation also. I told them that we were meeting on the beach for a wiener roast & make smores with JJ & Family and another Cousin & Family we had made arrangements to meet up with who were staying in Canyon Beach, just 8 mile away.

This was wonderful because most of the young cousins have never met until that day

Maddie & Izzie were excited about these new friends.. Take note Maddie has her hand sanitizer, & Yes! she shared it!!

you can almost feel the heat & hear the crackling

Wednesday Papa & Maddie made a Big Sandcastle

Daddy had to join in on the FUN!!

Izzie & Maddie having fun together

Well if you haven't guessed. Those Girls got pretty sandy and we would not have traded these days with them for anything..

As you know, God has blessed us with Maddie and her Life is a living testimony of his promises and Love..
Maddie did get a bacterial infection. However she was playing like a child in the Dirty sand. With a compromised immune system she was bound to get some type of bug.
The only treatment was antiobiotic, prayers & snuggles from Mommy

Thank you for visiting us and sharing our trip

Looks like a fun time was had by all. It looks like the adults enjoyed playing like kids as much as the kids did, something we all should do once in a while. And such a nice surprise to run into relatives and enjoy the extra family bonding.

Have a safe and enjoyable 4th of July.

We were recently there (2 weeks ago) at Seaside. Our daughter and her fiance are staying at the Ronald McDonald house in Portland. Their son was born with three diaphragmatic hernias and they are at Emanuel Legacy Hospital. They have been there since April (he was born May 4th) and Jesse is about to undergo another surgery to have a trach tune and feeding tube put in.
Looks like you had a wonderful time with your family.

Today's Success :)

Friday, February 19, 2010

This Am was a sleep in day for me. I haven’t had a good nights rest since the week before going to CA for the Surf City Marathon. Yet that was my choice. On my Mornings off I had been getting up early to go for walks. We’ll what made this morning different? I gave myself permission to sleep in. I could get my walk in before noon so that was ok. As I lied there in bed telling myself I should get up and get this over with my body was telling me something different. It was reminding me of my aches and pains. I hate Mornings like this. Then my Cat (Chardonnay) decided that she would lie on my chest and sooth me with her purring, then up comes Fawn my little Baby, she is a Schnauzer/ Lhasa Apso mix. She puts her head onto my neck and snuggles, so anyway we lie there snuggling, yes all 3 of us and I was enjoying the moment.

After snuggling with my furry children I got up. Hurting bad.. I kept telling myself “sorry your not getting out of going for the walk today”. I went to the kitchen got a cup of coffee and decided I better fire up the wii and do my weigh in and some fitness items to get the body moving. So I did and I was still aching. I went to the kitchen still not listening to my body and fixed my Protein Smoothie with fruit. Then sat at the PC to check E-mails and check on some friends.. Well as I was there I say another Caring bridge for Lili, my Heart Jumps every time I see those. Well her Mommy posted ~ The disease in Lilli's lungs is worse. I am not sure if she has more infiltration or if it is simply all of the blood products that have transfused, but either way, Lilli is very sick. ~ I got to that point and started tearing up and Praying. So young, innocent and so much life to live. Well! I Posted her caring bridge link on FB and also a picture of her and Maddie sitting together a little over a year ago when they were both waiting for their Bone Marrow transplant along with a Prayer.

Survivor.. see it in her face!!

After that prayer I realized again!! Becki this is why you are active, you promised your grandchildren you would be there for them, to Pray with, to Play with, Walk with, live with and Love as a Healthy active Grandma!

Well I put my Knee and back brace on and then my sweats and shoes. Looked at Hubby and said I’m heading out to do the 23rd walk (fitness map Tracker name). He gave me that smile! I put my I pod on, looked at my watch and went out the door with a new attitude. As I was walking I prayed to God to give me a Great walk and keep the dogs in their yards (because I forgot my Plastic bat) and praised him every time I passed a yard with a barking dog that stayed. I was about half way through my walk and was feeling out of steam! NO!! this can’t be happening, Then I started praying for Maddie, Lili and all of the Families that have influenced my life with their Lives and Losses.. I can do this!!!

Well I made it back home feeling Good that I accomplished my walk even though my Body was doing it’s best to tell me I couldn’t do it. Lord I thank you for always being with me, you have never left me, you are always there right by my side. Yes I admit I don’t understand the Whys yet I do acknowledge there is a lesson in all I (we) go through. I am not in pain!!!! What these Children are going through is PAIN!!! How dare I feel sorry for myself.. I will do what I can to help myself become Better, Happier & Healthier person.
At my start/Stop point I Looked at my watch and said “Not Bad” I walked 3.32 Miles in 45 minutes and burned 353 Calories…

Look at this picture.. Look into Maddies Eyes. Not only do we see a Little girl with determination to get through this, we see a fight to keep going and not let these bumps in the road stop her... I have said it before and I will say it again.. Maddie is my Hero!! when I grow up I want to be like her.. A SURVIVOR

Thanks for letting me share & Thank you Jesus for allowing me to go through this. Without this I wouldn't be the person I am.

My heart goes out to you. I have a 14 month old granddaughter who has health issues but they do not compare to what yours is dealing with. Can not help but think your family is like mind, in thinking the girls are too young to have to deal with the hand they have been dealt with. Your whole family will be in my thoughts and prayers as each person deals with the issues at hand.

    Greetings, Becki.

Thank you for sharing with all of us. Sometimes the Lord chooses to touch and heal a person, sometimes He does not. But He is always faithful and He does give us the strength to meet every challenge that is presented to us. I will remember you and Maddie in my daily prayers. He not only wants us to be survivors, but He wants us to be conquerors....through Him.

Best wishes always.....Bill

Such fierce faith and determination you show! Your kids and grandkids have a good role model to look to. Just remember, though, that its ok to address the pain and accept that its real sometimes. Yes, we need to keep going...but its ok to stop now and then too. Hope your days are less painful.

Becki, you are a SURVIVOR too! YOU ROCK! Way to get your walk done and you were quite speedy at that! You made a decision for yourself today and i think that's wonderful. You live your life so much for others that doing something for yourself (knowing it will help you help them) is quite a feat. No bat needed, those dogs know who's the boss of the road when you walk by! Congrats, Becki.

Thought for today

Thursday, February 11, 2010

I received this today, and it put a smile on my face.
Sometimes we just seem to be looking for excuses.

So what is it that really pulls us to the refrigerator?

Isn't this kind of what we all wish?

Christmas with the Granddaughters

Sunday, December 27, 2009

As most of you have read, Maddie Loves to ride on Vroom Vroom's. well that is her words.
So Grandpa and I got Maddie her very own Vroom Vroom that she can drive all by herself..

Here is Izzie and Grandpa getting ready for Dinner

Izzie in her chair at the dinner table being patient while waiting for her turn to eat!

Maddie kept sitting on the presents looking at all of us saying "I ready - I READY, Gumma, Papa, Mama I READY"

Izzie opening her presents... after this we learned we needed to be sure all wrapping paper was collected as she would choke in it!

Maddie gets her own weights. Now she can work out with Mommy

After a long evening playing with her toys and riding her Vroom Vroom she is happy with her new step stool. now she can reach her kitchen and also open the oven door.

Good night my Angles Thank you for giving us a Great CHRISTmas.
Love Gumma Becki

A Cute Story... Be ready for Smiles

Thursday, December 17, 2009

It's a romantic full moon, when Pedro said, "Hey, mamacita, let's do Weeweechu."

Oh no, not now, let's look at the moon!" said Rosita.

Oh, c'mon baby, let's you and I do Weeweechu. I love you and it's the perfect time," Pedro begged.

"But I wanna just hold your hand and watch the moon." replied Rosita.

Please, corazoncito, just once, do Weeweechu with me."

Rosita looked at Pedro and said, "OK, one time, we'll do Weeweechu."

Pedro grabbed his guitar and they both sang.....

"Weeweechu a Merry Christmas, Weeweechu a Merry Christmas, Weeweechu a Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year."

For unto us a Child is Born....
and his name shall be called.... The Prince of peace!!! Isaiah 9:6

Wishing you all the Blessings, that the Wonder of Christmas touches your world in a Special Way!
