WHEN I'M AN OLD LADY

Sunday, September 26, 2010

I found this poem and just had to share...ENJOY; )

When I'm An Old Lady
by Joanne Bailey Baxter

When I'm an old lady, I'll live with each kid,
And bring so much happiness just as they did.
I want to pay back all the joy they've provided.
Returning each deed! Oh, they'll be so excited!
(When I'm an old lady and live with my kids...)

I'll write on the walls with reds, whites, and blues,
And bounce on the furniture.....wearing my shoes.
I'll drink from the carton and then leave it out.
I'll stuff all the toilets and oh, how they'll shout!
(When I'm an old lady and live with my kids...)

When they're on the phone and just out of reach,
I'll get into things like sugar and bleach.
Oh, they'll snap their fingers and then shake their head,
And when that is done, I'll hide under the bed.
(When I'm an old lady and live with my kids...)

When they cook dinner and call me to eat,
I'll not eat my green beans or salad or meat.
I'll gag on my okra, spill milk on the table,
And when they get angry...I'll run....if I'm able!
(When I'm an old lady and live with my kids...)

I'll sit close to the TV., through the channels I'll click
I'll cross both eyes just to see if they stick.
I'll take off my socks and throw one away,
And play in the mud 'til the end of the day!
(When I'm an old lady and live with my kids...)

And later in bed, I'll lay back and sigh,
I'll thank God in prayer and then close my eyes.
My kids will look down with a smile slowly creeping,
And say with a groan, "She's so sweet when she's sleeping!"

HUGS,

Melissa

I love this! When I clicked on it, I assumed it was the poem about being an old lady and wearing purple and red together! This one is so funny! I'm going to send it to my only son! He may want to move and not tell me his new address!!!

SSV CHALLENGE: 09/25/2010

Sunday, September 26, 2010

Instead of writting a letter, I decided to post this poem; I couldn't have said it better myself= )

I Love Being Me
by Gemma Hayton

I can't run the fastest
I can't swim the sea
I can't type the quickest
but I love being me.

I can't kick a ball
or even climb a tree
I can't roll in the grass
but I still love being me.

You see, this is my life
as others would see
they don't know what it's like
to really be me.

So next time I'm about
rolling down the street
don't think of me disabled
but someone cool to meet.

I have lots I can teach you
I have loads I can share
you will never gain my wisdom
if you just point and stare.

So maybe I can't run the fastest
maybe I can't kick a ball
but I wouldn't change being me
not for you, not at all.

HUGS,

Melissa

MY STATS: 09/22/2010

Wednesday, September 22, 2010

Weight: 189 lbs

Neck: 14
Upper Arm: 13
Forearm: 10
Waist: 35.5 (down 0.5)
Hips: 42.5
Thigh: 24.5 (down 0.5)
Calf: 15
Rib Cage: 32

Not overjoyed with my results, but it's my own fault for slacking on exercise--only down 1.5 inches total. All normal labs came back great and got my flu shot today, so let's hope I don't get sick! Taking the night off from exercise (although I did get in some fitness minutes from cleaning), but I'll be back at it in the am= )

EXERCISE + EDUCATION= FUN : )

Tuesday, September 21, 2010

I'm always looking for new ways to keep my 4 year daughter, Madilyn, entertained; she loves to learn new things and "parrot" others. As playing outside isn't always an option (Houston, TX weather is unpredictable!), finding indoor play items are a must.

I recently came across a video called Gymathics by Exploracise.com; it's a workout dvd for children that also teaches math skills--and most don't even realize they're learning! Research shows that movement in combination with learning enhances retention and recognition. In a world where the rate of childhood obesity is on the rise at an alarming rate, this dvd will open your child's mind to making healthy lifestyle choices.

The dvd is 30 minutes long and Maddy enjoys it so much she ask me to restart it again and again...she reminds me of a little fitness instructor= ) She takes her exercise time very seriously and encourages the whole family to join her; perhaps it's time started taking lessons from my daughter!!!

WOOHOO - 7.5 inches, thats great!!! Isn't zumba awesome??? I am absolutely hooked on it myself!!! Just remember though about the scale - it can be misleading! Even if it doesn't move remind yourself muscle weighs more, but its GOOD - you can still be shrinking, bust out that measuring tape! Give yourself a huge pat on the back, you are doing amazing!!! :)
