Regaining my footing

Wednesday, April 16, 2014

Between work and school and moving and other life events the last couple months have SUCKED for weightloss. I have not been on sparkpeople near enough and the scale shows my lack of focus and success. NO MORE!!!!! I started back on carb nite on Sunday, and I will be sticking to it until I hit vacation time. I am hoping this structured plan will help me some, and get the scale back down to where it was and beyond. I feel like I have let my spark teams down, and for that I am sorry. I promise once I get through my new promotion issues like finding out what all the previous person didn't do, I will be more active on Spark. I am also only taking 2 classes next semester rather than 4 classes. I have got to stay focused!

I will post more updates when I have some! Love you sparkfriends!!!

You can do it girl!! I am doing something similar to carb nite as well, and just started this week too. Focus is vital, and I have learned that in weakness, there is no room for self-pity as it does not bring results. Work it!! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Yes, there is so much in life that can get in the way of us staying focussed on our own health. We always have to stay on our toes and focussed and yet others stuff calls for our attention. Good for you trying to keep perspective on what's happening. emoticon

Maybe April will be better

Monday, March 31, 2014

March really sucked for me and I am ending the month up in weight instead of down I think. I am not happy with myself, but with everything going on I should have expected it to be a rough month. April has to be better. I have a little more than 2 months until my vacation and I am DETERMINED to be in the 170's or 160's by then. For April, I am going to still do my calorie bank experiment to give it a good run with more consistent tracking. The one thing I will change is concentrating on lower carb. Not no carb, but less bread and pasta.

April Goals
Track food EVERYDAY
Log in EVERYDAY
1500 fitness minutes
Accurate calorie bank experiment.

Thank you for posting the good, the bad and the ugly.... Basic life experiences that you overcome and teach the rest of us, by example!

Calorie Bank Week 1

Thursday, March 20, 2014

Week one ended for my experiment on 3/16/14. I went over my total calories for the week by 13, and I didn't get the exercise in that I normally would due to moving. I still managed to lose 1.6lbs for the week so that was good. My plan this week is to increase my fitness minutes back to closer to normal, but this is hard because now I am working an 8-5 schedule and I am the only one taking care of my kids at all....

Calorie bank for 3/17-3/22 = 11039

Looking forward to another loss on the scale this week. I hope anyway.

Looking good and congrats on the loss!! That sure must be rough! I know you will get sick of me saying it, but you can get away with far less time working out and doing it at home with some ballz to the wallz heavy kettlebell swings. Just a little reminder if that could save you time and headache going anywhere. In fact, I plan to start up at night before I go to bed. 15-20 minutes even barefoot and in my underwear swinging that darn bell to kingdom come! Don't worry, I won't Vlog that anytime soon! emoticon emoticon

Goals for BLC

Wednesday, March 12, 2014

This is my first time participating in a BLC challenge, so I am a little nervous but very excited.
My goals for this challenge:

1. Lose 14 lbs - this would put me in a healthy BMI for my height
2. Do the challenges to the best of my ability to support my team
3. Motivate and interact more with sparkpeople.
4. 240 fitness minutes per week
Hope thats enough :)

My Own Personal Calorie Bank?

Wednesday, March 05, 2014

I have been tossing the idea around for the last couple of days to try something different. Weightloss is an ongoing process that does not happen in a single day or get determined by a single meal. Lately I have been so busy with school and work and the kids, that packing my lunches has happened less frequently, and business obligations such as lunch meetings happen more frequently. All this has made me contemplate the idea of using a calorie bank as my approach to calorie cycling for the month of March. Based on my activity level and my current weight, according to a calculator online, I should be around 1500 calories a day to lose weight. That really seems high to me, but hey thats what it says. What I am going to do with this information is take my current weight calorie needs for weight loss which is 11039 per week, and my goal weight calorie needs for weight loss which is 9835 per week and experiment. Instead of aiming to hit a specific calorie range in a day I am going to look at it in a weekly format. Since it is Wednesday and I have not done this yet this week, I will keep with my regular calorie cycling until Sunday morning.

I like experimenting lol and I find that if I just do the same thing for too long my weight stays the same. Below is my plan, nothing fancy really, and I plan to blog weekly about results if any.

3/9-3/15 - 9835 calories for the week
3/16-3/22 - 11039 calories for the week
3/23-3/29 - 9835 calories for the week
3/30-4/5 - 11039 calories for the week.

Some plans do focus on weekly calorie intake rather than daily esp with IF. IF allows an even greater opportunity to get low days and higher days that will not negatively impact the weekly deficeit. Great plan!

I love that idea! I had decided before when I get to maintenance, and find what my maintenance calorie amount is, I would make a weekly bank and deduct the calories as I go along. So I love this idea and can't wait to hear how it goes! :D

You're right that weight loss doesn't happen in a single day. I like to change it up too. It helps to keep from getting in a rut and to keep things moving.

Only you can figure out how your body works for you. I know when I was doing WW years ago that if I didn't eat a certain portion of my Activity Points, I would not lose. It can be a struggle to learn our bodies and what works for us. Best of luck!
