Size 6

Monday, September 24, 2012

So a few weeks ago I decided to do something I hate...go jeans shopping. I had no choice because ALL my jeans were way too big and no longer stayed up, which is great. But still...I hate jeans shopping!! emoticon
I grabbed a size 8 in some really cute skinny jeans. I held them up, they seemed like they would fit, and I threw them over my arm and headed for the check out...phew! But there was a little voice in the back of my mind telling me to try them on, just in case they didn't fit right. So I slowly made my way back to the fitting room and what do you know?! They were TOO BIG!! What?!! Did I really need a SIZE 6??! I held myself back from running to the rack and grabbing a size 6 (still in shock!!). Instead I walked like a civilized person, grabbed a size 6, and prepared myself for the harsh reality that these probably wouldn't even make it up to my waist, much less zip!
But you know what? They did fit, and perfectly at that! I did a victory dance, right there in the fitting room! emoticon
Now I know a size 6 isn't a huge deal to everybody out there. For some, it's a huge size they will never get up to. For others, it's a size they've dreamed of being for years. For me, it's a victory in my weight loss journey, and I'm proud to say I'm a size 6! emoticon

Progress is progress, whether it's being able to walk 30 minutes instead of 29. Whether it's losing 1/2 a pound, or being able to put your jeans on without the "jean dance"..haha! emoticon (That's what my face looks like when I do my jean dance!) Every small step leads to ultimate victory!
My biggest goal used to be lose the weight!! But now I see how inspiring a HEALTHY lifestyle can be, and that is my real goal...I want to inspire people to make small changes that lead to their own personal victory!
Stay motivated! emoticon

Just Say No

Friday, August 10, 2012

So I work at a prestigious law firm in Nashville. I'm in charge of catering, and therefore I am always around food. I have yet to be tempted by any of it though, because most of it is stuff I don't like. However, today we had three boxes of donuts!! emoticon But I stayed strong & didn't even look at them! I made myself a bowl of fresh fruit instead. emoticon
I'm proud of myself!! I know I can keep making these good choices everyday, and ultimately that will change my whole life. I'm sticking to it! I've got the power to say no. I've got the power to make the better choice. I've got the power to lose this weight! emoticon

Awesome! I work in a building full of women that feel compelled to "celebrate" everything from birthdays to our "beginning of summer" party. It can be so hard but just learning to walk away from it has been such a stress-saver. I try to always make sure to have something alternative on hand too.

This is my first blog entry, woohoo! I've been feeling kinda down on myself lately, but I'm not going to use that as an excuse! I've been walking everday after work NO MATTER WHAT!! I'm keeping track of what I eat, and I'm being honest with my weight. I can't change it if I can't face it! I can do this! emoticon
