Gratitude Day 14

Monday, November 14, 2011

I am grateful that I had to go home this afternoon and take care of my dog before going on to a work presentation this evening. My car broke down in my garage instead of 40 minutes away from home and I was able to use another car to get to the presentation just in time. I am also grateful that the brakes on that car, which my husband said were low, worked just fine when the deer jumped in front of me.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My car ran just fine all the way home from the office. I got home, let the dog out, fed him, took out the trash and got back in the car. I was home for maybe 20 minutes. I start the car, it runs rough and stalls. This happens a few times, each time the car stalling sooner than before. I finally get my DH on the phone (he was at an AIST dinner) and then it won't start at all. It is strange how that can happen so quickly. DH looked at the car when he got home and he thinks it may be the fuel pump. Thankfully we keep another car for just such occasions. So I will be driving my "old" car (a 1993 instead of a 2001) for the rest of the week until we can do something about this.
    Glad it all worked out in the end. Fuel pump when out on me when I was driving. Well coming to a stop. It would start then die. I was right in the middle of a busy 4 way stop. Thank goodness it was close to home. Funny how things like that happen. Hope thing went well with the presentation.
    Oh my, I'm also grateful you had to go home and the car decided to quit working at home instead of someplace else! We live in the kind of place where cars are something we have to have running perfect all the time...because there are too many places nearby with no cell reception and miles from nowhere! :)
I'm glad you were safe and had an alternate way to get where you needed to be. Hugs, Di
Gratitude Day 13
Sunday, November 13, 2011
I am grateful that I was able to spend almost all day doing homework.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I worked all day trying to get caught up on schoolwork and getting an assignment turned in. I was even ahead (I thought) because I did tomorrow's discussion posts already. I closed it all and started to Spark...

...only to get an email from the teacher saying that I was missing something in my assignment. Unfortunately, I do not have the exact information she was looking for (revenue and expenses for a particular program). The organization I am using is way behind on their bookkeeping. I am supposed to help them get caught up, but not until NEXT week. So I basically made them up - I hope they make some sense in comparison to the other submission.

Gratitude Day 12

Saturday, November 12, 2011

I am grateful for a really nice day spent with my daughter, Angela. We went to the Handmade Arcade (with a co-worker and her daughter) and then to the new gallery opening at the ToonSeum. After that she came back home with me and visited with her dad for a while, too. It is so great that she likes to spend time with us!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Handmade Arcade was full of handmade arts, crafts, clothing and jewelry. We picked up a couple of things but weren't sure on kids' clothing sizes so we also got a handful of business cards to order stuff online later too. I would like to do the bulk of my holiday shopping this way.
The ToonSeum is one of 3 museums in the US dedicated to the comic and cartoon arts. They just expanded into a new space and dedicated a gallery to Lou Scheimer today. He was born in Pittsburgh and founded Filmation Studios, the home of lots of Saturday morning cartoons, including He-Man and She-Ra. Mr. Scheimer was on hand (he is over 80 years old and still going strong) to cut the ceremonial ribbon with a replica of He-Man's sword. It was really cool! While there, I bought a DVD collection of old-style Looney Tunes cartoons for my nephew's birthday next week.
This is She-Ra with the sword:
    Awesome! I didn't know we had that little slice of heaven in our own backyard. We will have to investigate.
As a daughter, I can tell you how nice it is to have loving parents to go "home" to. We appreciate you guys more than you will ever know.
My nephew was wounded in Afghanistan last year - he is doing very well! This is his Purple Heart ceremony.
This is a picture of my dad that my stepmom posted on Facebook.
