Day Two of Eight Week Battle

Tuesday, June 15, 2010

All right the battle is on. I was able to squeeze in a little bit of exercise; however, I am still finding that I am winded after walking short distances and after doing exercise. I am thinking that this is still due to the bronchitis and pluracy that I was diagnoised with three and two weeks ago. At least I am able to do more than I was two weeks ago and a week ago. It will just take time.

I hope all of my fellow teammates are doing great so far.

I am still struggling with trying to figure out how to fit in working from 8 - 3:20 then pick up my daughter to take her to swim by 4:00 and then back to work until 5:30 or 6:00. Then to pick Ashley up from swim at 6:30, home to cook dinner, clean up kitchen, spend time with Ashley and then trying to get in Sparkpeople time and exercise. How do other single mothers of an active teenager do it? I really could use some good pointers.

Well it is time to go to bed, so I can get my rest to start over again tomorrow. Have a great Wednesday everyone.

Well, I wasn't a single mom, but my husband traveled a lot when my daughter was in junior high and high school. And I worked full time. And was working on my master's degree.

I used to do things like walk up and down the sidewalk while waiting for her after school. Any time I was waiting, I was walking, going up and down stairs, or doing some sort of quickfire sort of exercise. Or stretching. I'd stretch or do exercises while cooking even.

Some clients occasionally looked at me oddly when they'd show up late to a meeting to find me doing lunges or pacing the hallway. Whatever. If it took exercising in 5 or 10 minute bursts ... that's what I did.

Day One of Eight Week Challenge

Monday, June 14, 2010

emoticon of the eight week challenge,

I'm proud to be part of the blue team and look forward to getting to know each of my fellow team mates and to help them achieve their goals. I hope that each of my fellow team mates will help to hold me accountable for reaching my goals and to exercise each day. I have a hard time with figuring out how to work full time, take care of my teenage daughter and her work and swim schedule, take care of the house and fit in time for me to exercise. Therefore, I really need encouragement.

5 Steps to Self Actualization - Motivation

Wednesday, June 09, 2010

"Every human action, whether it has become positive or negative, must depend on motivation."
-- Dalai Lama

"There are three kinds of people and three kinds of richness:
- people who want to have, to collect
- people who want action, work and labor
- people who want to be

The real richness is in be-ness. People can take all that you have, all that you collected. People can stop your labor, or an accident can stop you. When you are, you never lose what you are."
-- Torkom Saraydarian

"You are what you think. You are what you go for. You are what you do!"
-- Bob Richards

We donít change overnight. Personal growth requires persistence. Good luck to each of you in your quest for personal growth.
