I love the first month of getting serious. Every time I get serious about losing weight, the weight seems to come off easy at first. That first 15 pounds always seems to melt away fast with proper eating and exercise. I lost two pounds the week of thanksgiving, 4 pounds last week and today (though not my official weigh in day) I was down 2 more pounds. I love this phase. Seeing the numbers fall keeps me so motivated to continue.
But what about the 1st of February when I hit the wall that I know is coming? How will I stay motivated when it seems like I am doing all the right things but nothing good is happening? I have the answer! I am realizing now that it is not so much about the number the scale says as it is about the health benefit of eating right and getting in shape. Even if I don't lose my 50 pounds, if I am in shape and healthier I have reached a more important goal than losing weight. So today, I want to go on record as saying, "Discouragement, BEWARE! You will not win this time.
