5 Day Wrap Up!

Good Evening Sparker's! Hope all has been well with all of you! The last few days have been good. Saw a few good movies and enjoyed time with hubby, doggies and family. No word yet on the new job.

As for my weight loss journey, I was able to lose 4 lbs for this weeks Mondays weigh in. I have lost 12.5 lbs in the last 3 weeks. Its a start, 180.6 to go. We all need to start somewhere, at least I have started. My goal is to be under 300 by next Monday's weigh in. Fingers and toes crossed.

My walking/running training is going great. Over the weekend my sister and I started training for our 1/2 marathon next summer at a local park. We did 1 lap which is 2.17 miles. Our goal is to walk/run 6 laps in under 4 hours. In between the track training I am committed to my 100 minutes a day 6 days a week walking a minimum of 20 miles per week. Today I broke my record for fastest 5k time at 65.50. That's .43 seconds of my last fastest time.

  I love the way you are training for the half marathon...and I am in awe of your 100 minutes a day 6 days a week...I need to get more inspired with exercise for sure!!

Broken Records!

Hello all you Spark Peoples, hope your all heading for a great weekend and joining some down time from work.

I have had a promising 48 hours. Yesterday, I went for a job interview and it seems hopeful that I got it, so I will soon be back at work. I cant wait I have been home for a bit over 4 months and I am ready to get back to earning some money for the little extras, ie weight loss goodies/rewards! So fingers and toes crossed everything will work out, cause Lord knows that at times employers can be more fickle than our scales. They are going to do what they want.

On to my blog title. So after two days of rest I resumed my 100 minute work out on the treadmill. I am thrilled to report that I have broken a few personal records (PR). The first is I did my fastest 5k time of 66.33 min, just 6.33 to get to my first goal time. Second was I completed my furthest distance with a 100 minutes of 4.72 miles. Finally, since I have started 3 weeks ago I dropped my timed mile from a 24 minute mile to a 20 minute mile. I hope to get to a 19 minute mile by the end of next week. I just need to keep getting faster and faster because my sister and I are planning to run a half marathon next August that is 13.1 miles and it must be completed in 4 hours. Yikes. But, there is not another person in the universe I would want to do that with. Do I hear the echo's of Iron man. lol. Maybe it's a five year goal. hahaha!

But, all new records a side, the best part of my work out today was that it helped me get back my positive attitude before I went off road. The bus did not go off of its route but, I felt like I was going to make a sharp left at any moment. So I am renewed, recommitted and am completely off the crazy bus, well as much as I can be and still be me.

Working Out your Stress

Hey Spark People, I hope everyone had a great day.

For me today was a stressful day from the moment I put my feet on the floor. As the day went on I was in my mind attempting to weasel out of getting on the treadmill because of the stress. Then I remembered my lesson on flexibility.

The lightbulb has been turned on. I need to be more flexible in my life. That is my lesson. I will have stress everyday in some way! I can deal with what comes my way in the best way I know how.

So I did my 100 minutes on the treadmill and worked out my stress.

    I almost ALWAYS feel less stressed when I am exercising and afterwards. Strangely enough, I also seem to come up with some really good problem solutions when I am in my fitness zone. Good on you for getting your exercise in!!!

To Commitment or should I be committed?

Hey everyone! Thanks for the nice comments they really, really, really help. They helped so much that I could not let myself and all of you down. Yesterday I blogged about teaching myself to be flexible (More on that tomorrow) when I miss a work out.

Well, my commitment to getting healthy, being a team player and my sheer unbridled competitive spirit within my self prompted me to attempt to get on the treadmill for 200 minutes today. I did it! I walked a total of 8.66 miles. So now tonight I will sleep easy knowing that I did my BEST today and did not miss an opportunity to be healthy today.

So, tomorrow I will see if my little stunt is going to be my true lesson in flexibility, both literally and figuratively.

Stay healthy and keep moving.

    You were walking on the treadmill for 3 and a half hours? In a row? Holy crap!! I bow to you! That's quite the accomplishment ( and if it wasn't in a row.. it's still an accomplishment.. I can hardly stand to be on mine for an hour!

    way to go!!! i admire your commitment to yourself. so many times, our commitment to others, our jobs....life seem to take more priority than that of taking care of ourselves. not making the connection that if we take care of ourselves, the rest is so much more manageable and more rewarding! keep up the good work. i too need to put ME on that list and everyday commit to making me a healthier happier person!!!

I have decided to make sure I exercise every day. I also do some strength training. (adding that in slowly)

Gaining Perspective

Well Sparker's so begins another week on our healthstyle (my word) journey. For finding the nutrition and exercise balance for each one of us gives us our own unique healthstyle.

After much thinking about how I can avoid becoming unhinged as I have so many times before, I came to one conclusion. I must learn to be flexible with myself. Someday's we will be perfect and eat all our veggies and get in our full work out and push until we might break. Other days we have a mix of healthy and not so healthy food choices and we trudge through our exercise routines half hearted. Then there are the days were we can think of 1,000 excuses a minute why we shouldn't lace up our sneakers and get moving or why we just needed to eat two helpings of deep fried french fries (my personal favorite). I personally have had all of these days, as I am sure many of out there have had as well. In the end every single thing I have done has brought me to this moment in time.

My first lesson in be flexible with myself will begin today. I did not get my work out in today (see the third day in previous paragraph). The new plan is to add 25 minutes each of the 4 work out days to make up the 100 minutes I missed today. See problem solved. Sometimes we have to stop beating ourselves long enough to come up with a workable solution.
