Feeling Better

Friday, May 03, 2013

The "drain and shot" seems to be holding up. The right knee is much better, even managed 30 minutes on the exercise bike. Let's hope the swelling and stiffness are gone away for awhile.

Man, been there - done that! Ouch! I tried getting out and walking in the park, on the grass, about two days after the drain-pain. Big Mistake. Take it real easy.

Rough Day

Tuesday, April 30, 2013

Doctor drained the right knee and put in a shot of cortisone. Should be feeling better tomorrow. Got a flat after work and couldn't get the spare down from the undercarriage of the minivan. Needed Thor's mighty hammer! Called AAA and they weren't able to either, ended up buying a new tire.

Expect to get back to regular workouts within the week.

New Reading Material

Wednesday, April 24, 2013

In order to look a little more like my avatar and a little less like current self, I'm reading "Man 2.0 Engineering the Alpha: A Real World Guide to an Unreal Life: Build More Muscle. Burn More Fat. Have More Sex" . Certainly an engaging title. It was co-written by John Romaniello and Adam Bornstein, published by HarperCollins

I bought the Kindle Edition, which kind of stinks because there are "bonus" materials that I cannot access (need to scan a code with a smart phone). Of course I don't own a smart phone either, so the paper copy won't help ;-).

First couple of chapters are interesting, turns out these two guys are quite the contrarians. I'll let you know how it turns out.

Interesting Evening

Thursday, March 14, 2013

I attended a "running" seminar at a local runner's store by the name of Fleet Feet. Charlie (the store's owner) is not only a knowledgeable and experienced runner but a great guy. I always knew there had to be a right or better way to run, I just never new what it was!

I'm going to find out next week if my orthopedists is going to give me the OK to run the 3.5 miles of the Corporate Challenge. I do know where I'm going to buy my next pair of shoes whether I walk or run.

BB

Apparently Fleet Feet has a pretty good business model for the franchise. I like the locally owned Fleet Feet in Rochester for running accessories, advice, and finding the right shoes.

Good for you BB. The best place to find your shoes is from a running store like Fleet Feet. I have a store I trust in the western suburbs of Chicago. If I do not have the right shoes, I am in pain and that is not the way to be. Good luck with the Corporate Challenge, I have a 5k this weekend. Most of my training has been inside on the treadmill with walk/run intervals and not a lot of outside training, so I may do more walking than running, but I will finish and I'll do better on the next one.

Strange - Like Old TImes

Sunday, March 10, 2013

Strange experience during this afternoon's workout. I actually got sick to my stomach and well, I'll spare you the gory details. Haven't have that happen since high school wrestling practice some 40 years ago. Needless to say I didn't finish the workout I had planned.

I guess it was either bad timing, (too soon after lunch) a bug, or something I ate. Serves me right for eating pizza for dinner last night.

Oh course, the really strange thing is the fact that I feel the need to share this information.

Excelsior,
BB

Sounds like you've got a touch of the Biggest Loser workout heaves. Don't let you beat you.

Hope you're feeling better soon. I've had quite a few students out with a stomach bug the past few weeks so there is something going around here.

BB hope you are feeling better now! It is never fun getting sick, especially when working out. I hope you are not getting the flu bug. I hear that it is pretty nasty!
