The food tracker's being kind!!

Wednesday, May 16, 2012

Now that I'm finally trying to get onto the track - once again, ad nauseum - I find that the Food Tracker is acting kind of kind! I'd forgotten how "fulfilling" 1500 calories can be! And how good water can taste!!

Hard to get on track again ...

Monday, January 30, 2012

One thing I've never managed to do in life is to get back onto the track of healthy eating after slipping off. I've managed to have some quite good streaks, such as the recent 214-binge-free period, but after losing "it" have always waited months before starting once again ... ad nauseam. It's as if there's an invisible threshold to cross which defies all the theory in my head and all the encouragement I've received from fellow SParkers.

Well, it's time to stop being fatalistic!! THE difference this time around is that I'm determined to use all the resources Sparks has to offer - all the tracking facilities (food, exercise, streaks), blogging, message-boarding, being a good team member, etc etc etc.

Perhaps this will be the first time ever to jump back on track and stay on ... !!

You can do this! I've recently started to realize that when I eat more because I'm miserable, I find reasons to be miserable so that I can eat more...it's a bad cycle.

Its not something we get off and on, like a bus. Its just a journey. The binges are less frequent, perhaps less intense...or not...but the overall trend is better. Your not on track or off track--your just walking on the same track. :)

Yes, shedding the diet mindset is crucial to our long term success and you know it.

There is no on track, off track with a healthy lifestyle. There is no end in sight. Diets have an end, but a healthy lifestyle does not. It is a journey - and we keep walking that journey forever.

You know, we know, you can do it - starting off fresh is horribly scary - you have all the fears of slipping up - but remember that you have not failed, you made an amazing discovery of going 214 days without binging - I can't even imagine that!! Wow!! Now it's time to beat that record into the ground with a super strong you! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

The other difference is that you WERE on track for 200+ days - that's almost an entire year! Well, okay, 2/3 of an entire year, or something. (Too early for math!) But the point is, you did that! So you know you CAN do that! Which means you can do that again!!!!!!!

Got up to 214 binge-free days, then blew it!! Please help me start up again!!

Sunday, January 22, 2012

I got up to 214 binge-free days - couldn't believe it!! And then, yesterday, everything caved in! I couldn't stop stuffing myself - and went on and on and on for hours! A real BINGE - not overeating!!! Now I feel sick in my self, and sick in my head!!

Dear Spark friends, please help me start all over again ................ !!!

I don't follow your blog so I don't know your story, but just make sure you are developing coping strategies for your stress and your emotions (or whatever triggers your binging). Sheer willpower won't last and maybe it gave out on you this time?

Otherwise, just treat yourself extra especially kind, ask yourself what you need today, and move forward with patience.

Bumps happen. It's just part of the healing process.

What were the triggers? What happened that you blew it? Think about this, blog about it or write it down.

That done, start over. Remember how sick you feel right now. Think about whatever triggered the binge, and figure out what you can do the next time these triggers happen. Make a list of strategies to prevent another binge.

Then, with those strategies in mind, go forth and beat your current record!!!! You can do this!!!!!

You can do it...and when you look back after your first one, it will just be a teeny spot in the percentage of binge-free to binge days! Today is day 105 for me so I am very proud of your 214!!!

Please - Don't beat yourself up it was just a slip up - you don't need to fret, Today is a NEW Day and you can start over - it's just one day that you slipped over - remember you do not fail for falling over, only if you cannot get up and start over! You can DO IT! emoticon emoticon

Don't beat yourself up about it, it won't help. But wow, 214 days, that is AMAZING! Now start a new streak and get even more days piled up, and before you know it you will have beaten that old streak!

But if it was me, I would spend a little time thinking about what happened to make me blow it after such a long time. Something must have triggered it--and if you can figure it all out, you can plan for future events, so that you don't de-rail yourself over it.

Hang in there, you are obviously doing a LOT right, to have gotten that 214 days!!

"Eight surprising health benefits of the spud"

Friday, December 23, 2011

Here's a SParklingly good article about the wonders of the potato. It's not only relevant to Jewish friends guzzling on latkes, but to SParkers one and all, especially those of us who tend to denigrate and spurn the lowly spud.

HAD_ENUFF's Dieters' Truisms

Thanks for these! :)

Remember: Nothing tastes as good as being thin feels!

A moment on the lips, a lifetime on the hips!

Eat, shrink & be merry!

Take care of your body. It's the only place you have to live!

"We never repent having eaten too little." Thomas Jefferson;

If hunger is not the problem, then eating is not the solution.

Bigger snacks mean bigger slacks!

Little pickers wear big knickers!

Sugar is a type of fuel - yes, but your body runs on it as well as a car would!

The greatest wealth is health.

"My soul is dark with stormy riot, directly traceable to diet." Samuel Hoffenstein.

Today is the first day of the rest of your life!

All very good advise. I have decided to cut down on the carbs because they just stick to me. If it works I will let you know.

So glad you found these truisms! My sis sent them to me. One-liners are easier to remember when I start going "crazy" concerning food/junk.
