Dog Days.

Thursday, January 17, 2013

My son and his wife have an adorable shih tzu, Odin. Odin has been their baby for 7 years. Last year my son and his wife added an adorable baby boy to their home. He is 14 months and into everything, including Odin's personal space.

A couple of nights ago, my son called (they live 12 hours away from us). The little shih tzu just bit the little boy on the face. The bite was not a bad one, more of a nip but they are understandably upset and worried that Odin's aggressive behavior is escalating and their baby son, who adores the dog, just doesn't seem to get it that he needs to leave Odin alone.

Gramzi and Popzi to the rescue! Dah dah ta dah! Odin is coming to live with us for a few months. It looks like this weekend is good traveling weather. Important information since we will be traveling through Montana, Wyoming and possibly Colorado. They are going to try to meet us part way. Or we may be spared the trip by a buddy who is already down there.

My little self induced crazy life will be rocking with another little guy to look after. At least he gets along well with our own shih tzu and he is only 7lbs, so he won't take up too much more space between us in bed. hahaha. AND I have another walking partner…a sassy one.

YAY for a new walking partner, but Oh M an...so happy to hear the little guy is ok!! But, Odin?? What are you thinking?? I'm glad he'll be coming to stay with you, perhaps when he is a bit older, he can return to his family.

How fun! Geez a long drive! I suppose we are used to driving distances, but 12 hours is a long drive for even Montanans

Post Party Pleasure

Wednesday, January 16, 2013

The Party was well attended, in fact, better than we expected. 16 young adults came last night, including a dear young man who is a survivor of an automobile accident that damaged his brain.
This guy is very aware that life is a gift to him. He drags his right side, understands everything being said to him but is challenged to express his own thoughts. No one expected him to live let alone walk again but with these handicaps, he tackled Rock Band and Just Dance with a grin on his face and a shrug at his limitations. WOW! His friends love him!

All my worries about the salad, and it is the only thing left. The lasagna was decimated, what chicken was left (not much) went home with the birthday boy. The mistake I made with the salad? Mayo! It was a 7 layer salad and Mayo was the 6th layer. Haha. These are very health conscience, earth friendly young adults. They prefer no dressing or add their own and they conscientiously gathered every soda can and plastic bottle to take to the recycling plant on the way home. Impressive!

Can you see why we enjoy being with these guys? The last ones left by 10. DH and I were hiding in the other room due to the large group. We anticipated some playing board games in the front room, but all 16 of them stayed in the kitchen/family room to laugh at their buddies antics.

Today? A long neighborhood walk with my DD and our dogs, then a Knit Flick-that's a chic flick with knitting needles in hand.

Glad it went so well! You deserve a knit-flick...and to be party-free for at least another month!

Hope you and DD enjoyed your walk...it's great bonding time! I love time with my DD-- when she gives it to me.

Pre-party Pressure

Tuesday, January 15, 2013

Ahahahahaaahhhhh! In just 2.5 hours I will have a housefull of rowdy hungry young adults in my home and here I am on the internet. Why or why do I postpone doing what needs to be done?

Oh I am sorta ready, I have lasagna in the oven and store bought fried chicken staying warm (this menu is due to the birthday boy's request) But my house is messy and the salad needs to be assembled. I am sitting amid balloons and laundry.

Why tell you this? Cuz if I complained on Facebook 99% of the guests will see it. hahaha. Okay, thanks for letting me vent.

Back to work. No worries. The house will come together quickly and the salad will be remarkable. Hey, they are mostly college age kids grateful for a free meal. They could care less if there are dust bunnies under the table and a missed dog's kibble next to the fridge.

Yes, they ARE college kids...have you taken a peek into their dorm rooms?? I mean, you do have a college-aged girl, I'm sure you get a sneak peek into the college lifestyle. If not, take a peek at the 99%'s pictures on FB.

You've been quite the party-animal lately. I never know whether to clean before - or after - the party. Never seems to make sense to clean beforehand since it's sure to get messed up during, so save the cleaning for after. That's my take anyway.

You're a gracious host, my friend and sister. To have opened your home for birthday celebrations to a houseful of rugrats and to a group of college kids demonstrates the joy you receive when you share God's blessings.

Hope you have fun. I know, when all is said and done, it'll be a blast!!

Video Vampire

Tuesday, January 08, 2013

Good Ev-a-ing. Bwahahaha.
I am the video vampire.
I lurk on the Spark Start Page
And rarely go higher.

Today, I tapped upon the video section
That cute Pilates instructor and I have a connection.
She looks like my niece, tiny and pert
So I worked out beside her. Hey, what can it hurt?

Now I hobble away from the laptop in pain
They say it's the way to secure a true gain.
My days of lurking may be all done.
Participating with Nicole is bound to be fun.

This vampire not only shall suck out information
She will exercise along and form perspiration.
Of course I will continue to lurk and play
The Video Vampire never trully goes away.

Bwahahahahaha

Success!

Monday, May 14, 2012

Just got home from the doctor.
√-Cholesterol good
√-Blood Pressure good
√-Weight. less than 6 mo. ago but still a loooooog way to go.
√-Thyroid-good

Dr. was very impressed with the improved stats and encouraged me to dial back the portion sizes and dial up the exercises. I can do that.

Feeling spiffy about now. Tomorrow night I will go to Dark Shadows as one of the original fan members with a bunch of college aged kids who think this show is just a novel idea! Haha. I am loving my age right now.

Way to go girl!!! I am so excited for you. I am awaiting the blood work from last week's visit. I hope my report will be good too! I did the quick A1c for my blood sugar and it was normal for the 3rd consecutive visit (1 1/2 years). He says I absolutely can stay of any meds.

I saw Dark Shadows on Friday night. I never watched the original because I was always at band practice right after school and I think it came on at 4pm. I love Johnny Depp so I really enjoyed it.

Yay!!! I remember in 2007 my mother had a heart attack, so I immediately ran to the doctor to get my levels checked in a moment of panic. He told me he wanted to put me on cholesterol lowering meds and such. I remember smiling at him and saying that medication only treats the symptom and not the problem. I said check me in six months, and I'll prove to you that I can fix it on my own without your pills. Sure enough I had dropped over 50 points on my cholesterol by changing my diet and exercise.

Kudos to you!
