8weeks to go

Sunday, April 14, 2013

So in 8 weeks we will be off to cruise the Rhine all the way to Budapest. Lots to see and do on the way but before we go I need to lose a few pounds otherwise I will have to buy some bigger jeans to come home in.
The warmer weather is better for Barlow, he wasn't allowed out in the snow and ice in case he slipped, so he has lost a lot of muscle tone in his hind legs. Tilly remains as scatty as ever and is due for a trim otherwise she will overheat on her walks, how she finds balls I will never know but even if we don't take one with us she always comes home with one. There has been a little warming of the atmosphere between Stan and Nancy although they still lay in wait to ambush each other as they move from room to room. Nancy has started to bring slow worms into the house again, I've tried telling her they are a protected species but she "no speaka da lingo". It's not too bad when they have shed their tails but it saddens me to see them mauled as only a cat can. Still it could be worse, at least it's not birds and mice.

Nice to hear from you. That Rhine trip sounds like a good incentive. I did a very short Rhine trip a few years ago and the scenery and history were very interesting.

How many calories???

Saturday, January 12, 2013

So exactly how many calories does one burn when one coughs, I sincerely hope it's more than you consume in cough syrup cos I've been downing my fair share of that over the past 4 weeks. My friend took great delight in telling me there is a virus going round called the 100 day cough! WTF I'm fed up already, I dn't want it hanging round that long. Not been able to go to Curves since mid December and it has been made even more difficult because the one on my way home has closed down so now we have to add an extra half hour on the days to get to our nearest one. Not impressed one little bit.
Barlow is still going strong and will be 14 in April, Tilly has just turned 5 and is no calmer than when we first got her, we now have 2 black cats called Stan and Nancy who very rarely stay in the same room together, so there is always at least one animal on the wrog side of the door (I wonder how many calories I use getting up to open and close doors)

Try lemon and honey, that works for me. The lemon gives you Vitamin C and the honey sooths the irritation. Its still calories, but it does more good. Glad you still have the animals! emoticon Why are there no black cat emoticons? LOL!

Great to hear all your news. We only have one cat now, but have to keep all the doors in the house wedged open as she is always rambling around. emoticon

2nd massage and there has been an improvement

Sunday, November 20, 2011

I know it hurts like hell at the time and 15 minutes is long enough but I have had 2 massages to help sort out my shoulder problem. I have to say, although it feels like I've been beaten up, I have noticed an improvement. The pain is all but gone and mobility is almost back to normal.
I have progressed from my shoulders feeling like a brick wall to it being "a bit crunchy" but at least she is getting in to work on the muscles. Only the back of the neck to go. Once that it all sorted I will extend the time between treatments to 4 weeks just to keep it ticking over.

Starting again.....slowly

Having been off site for so long (see my previous blog) I have decided to come back gradually.
I am going to start just by recording water, steps and portions of fruit/ veg for a couple of weeks and then progress to food and exercise tracking after a couple of weeks.
It gets very depressing being in constant pain and even signing onto site was to much effort, however, I am on the mend now and most of the pain and inflammation has gone. Just one painkiller at night so I can sleep better but even that will go soon.
I have started back at Curves but without the Smart workout for the last 2 weeks, went back onto Smart this week only to be "down graded" to beginner, how bad is that!!
Never mind, onward and upward, I WILL get back up there by christmas.

Perhaps one day I will manage to go on holiday without hurting myself

Sunday, November 13, 2011

Have hardly been on site for quite a while, basically I got grounded by the doc and just couldn't be bothered. I hurt my back/sciatic nerve area while we were away which was just starting to sort itself out when we moved office. They moved us and most of our equipment, but decided to have a fight over who should move our MFD. No great problem you say, BUT the only MFD we could use was not designated as "Secure for our use" so we had to go and collect our printouts as soon as we produced them. Again fine, except the machine we had access to was thru 2 very heavy security doors. 8 days of pushing and pulling those doors left me with "tennis elbow" in the whole of the top right hand side of my body. Basically it took out my right wrist, elbow, shoulder, chest and neck. So over 100 co-codamol and anti-inflammatory tablets later I am finally now in the hands of a masseur to finish repairing the damage. I've also had to take quite a lot of laxatives to counteract the codeine, have been unable to use Curves for several weeks and had great difficulty even just walking the dogs, who I couldn't hold on a lead because they both pull!
Still at least I am nearly healed now, just in time for the cold weather when I will probably end up on my backside again!!!

MFD got moved by the IT bods 2 weeks after we moved office, massage is costing 6 for 15 mins. Think it's working as some places were tender (like pulled muscles) for a couple of days. Employers paid for 1st one, rest are down to me BUT I don't have to clock out for my "treatment" time.

I thought you had been missing for sometime. This explains it. Sounds like you have a case for compensation from your employers or at least a very good case for getting an MFD closer to your office. Sometimes I think employers are becoming Dickensian because they are taking advantage of the poor employment market at the moment. Come the revolution.
