... my feet hitting the pavement. Yep, you guessed it - I was up and at 'em early again this morning - 5.20am and I had another great run. The early morning really seems to suit me.
It's such a lovely time of the morning - the air is slightly crisp, there's very minimal traffic, the houses have a sleepy feel about them, birds are starting to chorus and it's just such a nice feeling to be up and alive - kicking at the day and making the most of the opportunities I have to move. It gives me such a feeling of freedom for the day too - I've done my exercise (and my eating all seems to fall into line somehow) so it doesn't matter if something unexpected comes up for this evening because I don't have to worry about trying to fit my run in around that.
I do a circuit that's 6.1 kilometres in total. I start with a 5 minute walking warm up and then I'm running for 5 minutes, walking for 2, running for 5 minutes - repeat until my circuit is complete. Over the next few months I will phase out the walking between the run and my run will just be a 5k circuit straight up.
I'm very lucky that it's just become summer here so I've got a good few months of early morning running. It's a great way to beat the heat. I'm not looking forward to winter when I will have to adjust things around darkness and weather but I will get something sorted out by then no doubt.
Anyway, it's now 6.30am, and I'd better get in the shower and dressed before the children wake.
Oh, almost forgot to say - the early bird DOES get the worm. It's true! I saw it. As a rounded a corner there, sitting on a fence, was the early bird with the worm in its mouth - gotta be up early to see that - woohoo~!
Happy sparking all and have a FANTASTIC day!
