Even tho I weigh daily, Friday is the "official" day. So--no joy on the scale this morning, that metabolism is still out to lunch. Hah! To add insult to injury, my really too big jeans are in the wash so I had to wear the really fits ones, and the waistband was just a teese tight to remind me of my transgressions.

Goal this weekend--get some 15 minute timer jobs done (FlyLady technique) and plan food that will keep me satisfied so not prone to oversnacking.

Excellent idea and my overall favorite (FlyLady) technique..that 15 min timer! Perfect for getting the motivation to get some pesky stuff done!!! Have a fun, relaxing and productive weekend!

Don't let it get you down. You're making good plans and making more good choices every day. The scale/metabolism will catch up.

Thursday

Gym tonight, so dreading the parking situation. I look forward to going on Saturday mornings--I feel relaxed, no time issues, no parking issues--I just wish there were something better on the TVs in front of the treadmills than awful caroons!

I'm feeling a little optimistic right now about something that has had me in deep depression. It may not work out, but this little glimmer of hope has me thinking about ways to rev up the program and get some weight shed soon. I have been doing well at getting back to eating right; maybe my metabolism will kick in for a change!

Hang on for dear life to that optimism friend, we all have to have it to make life worth living no matter what the circumstance!

Makes me think of that joke about "There is a light at the end of the tunnel........oh, no, it's a train."

Had to make a joke! All will turn out, I just know. We worry so much about what never comes to pass. emoticon

Hump Day

Wednesday, January 14, 2009

Or is it Hrrumph! Day?

I am a daily weigher--I know that it frowned upon, but I have to do it to keep myself honest. And it is depressing to get on that thing daily and see the recent gain. But, seeing that ugly number makes me try harder to stay on track, doing what I should.

I just read about body fat measurement in another Sparker's blog--I think I may try to check that out. Just curious I know it will not be pretty either, but in knowledge strength.

Barb there are an enormous number of Sparkers, if not the majority that weigh in daily.......really nothing wrong with it. I use the body fat myself...truthfully it tells for most, a better story and often you weight a bit more than your scale says is "just right" particularly if you are fairly active...go for it!!!!

I spent about two hours going through my SparkFriends and I'm so disappointed to see how many of them have disappeared over the past year. emoticon They need this! I'm sure glad I have you!!! emoticon

Barb, I know the feeling. I also am compulsive about the daily weight check--try it with a WII that looks at your BMI and says "That's obese!!!" Ouch! We can do this together--we've just got to focus and take it one small ounce at a time. Of course, I took a week off at Christmas, so I'm paying for it now!

Just remember the body fat measurement is not the whole picture any more than the scale is. I weigh in weekly but I understand your need to do it daily. Each of us has to do what works best for us and keeps us on track. Only you know your toughest weaknesses. Way to keep on top of yourself!

Another day, another good intention

Tuesday, January 13, 2009

I tend to overestimate when I track food, but I was shocked when I finished yesterday's. I thought I had been "good"--I certainly had passed up some major temption, but apparently I still went over by about 200 calories. Who'd athunk?

Gym tonight--couldn't get up earlier enough this am--and still doing a less stressful workout. My butt muscles are feeling a little better!

You know, if you didn't have good intentions and were unable to follow through on some things you might have gained a whole lot this past year or so...glass half full...you are doing great AND have lost weight...WTG!!!!

I agree. You're doing the most important thing: recognizing the mistake but not beating yourself up over it. One slip is no big deal. Great attitude.

You have a good positive attitude though. The most difficult element for most "diets/lifestyles" is they give up at the first sight of "failure." You aren't, which is wonderful. You tried to succeed with good intentions, but made a couple of mistakes. However, those mistakes help you learn what it is that you can do better at throughout this journey. People often don't seem to realize that you can't change everything and succeed in one day! So good for you!!! Keep up the great reflections!!!!

I have done the same thing. Just track better the next time. 200 cals over is not bad. Easy to work it off.

1/12

Monday, January 12, 2009

So I had more of the chocolate cake from lunch for dinner--and that's all. BUT--I wasn't able to finish it and didn't like the way I felt afterwards, so this morning, I threw what was left (about 1/3 of the piece) into the trash. It hurt on one level, but I can't slip and eat it tonight. One thing I have never done is take food out of the trash, even though it is in its nicelittle container.

Of course, someone left all kinds of donut holes in the kitchen in the office, so I have to avoid that but I feel as though I am off to a good start on the day.
