Today was my doctor's visit to renew my prescription and to get my papers for my blood work.
Well I left the office with no papers because he is so pleased with my progress. Actually he couldn't stop smiling and telling me how good I looked, even told me I could be his poster child.
It's got to be one of the few times I've seen my doctor and felt so good due to my health. He told me my last blood work 3 month average on my blood sugar was borderline of being non-diabetic. I was diagnosed almost 20 years ago with type 2. He still wants me to continue my 4 a day metformin, but if I find my blood sugars dropping to cut my doseage in half.
He checked my blood pressure and it was 120/80 which is perfect.
Then he brought up the subject of surgery, which has been a big concern for me lately. He wants me to lose more weight and be able to maintain my weight, before going for a consultation. I agreed that we'd start the appointment when I got below 200. It's only a consultation, but he wants me to go and let them tell me what they can do for me, all my options.
I told him that I was wearing my smaller pants and they look so good on me, but then here's this big belly hanging half way to my knees, it is discouraging to see. He assures me that if I was to get the surgery done I would feel so much better.
But then of course there is the big cost.... however this is something that we'll deal with when the time comes.
In the meantime I am just beaming from ear to ear at the big improvement in my health, this was why I needed to lose weight and it's working.

There's something in a simple hug
That always warms the heart;
It welcomes us back home
And makes it easier to part.
A hug's a way to share the joy
And sad times we go through,
Or just a way for friends to say
They like you 'cause you're you.
Hugs are meant for anyone
For whom we really care,
From your grandma to your neighbor,
Or a cuddly teddy bear.
A hug is an amazing thing
It's just the perfect way
To show the love we're feeling
But can't find the words to say.
It's funny how a little hug
Makes everyone feel good;
In every place and language,
It's always understood.
And hugs don't need new equipment,
Special batteries or parts
Just open up your arms
And open up your hearts.

Just an update on this week's progress.
Been to the pool, Monday night and Wednesday night. Ahhh, it does feel just wonderful. First I do the weight machines, last night I even did 5 minutes on the recumbent bike. Then half hour in the pool. Followed by 20 minutes in the hot tub and 10 minutes in the sauna.
Shannon was with me last night so we went out for supper, he had a huge plate of fried clams and french fries. I had one piece of liver and onions and double order of carrots. My meal was delicious.
Then one hour drive from town and an hour watching tv and getting ready for bed.
Did I tell you how good I sleep on the nights that I go to the pool? I don't wake up for about 6 or 7 hours and I'm a person who normally wakes up 3 or 4 times through the night for washroom breaks.
So I think my money is well spent on travelling to town and working out at the hotel's facilities.
