I'm feeling grateful today so I'm going to count my blessings.

I'm grateful that...

I decided to invest in my health by buying the Vita-Mix.
I decided to take care of myself by choosing Eat to Live.
I feel so good right now, at this minute.
I have a full belly without feeling sick.
I have a husband who supports me wholeheartedly.
I have Sparkfriends who cheer me on.
I have a dog who keeps me moving.
I have bones that are healing quickly.
on a good day, I can walk and barely limp at all.

We took Linus to the dog park today. He loved it. A local park has a fenced-off area for dogs that is a whole acre and right on the lake. We met lots of other nice dogs and people too.

Here he is at home.

Try to resist these eyes. It can't be done!

He's completely worn out! One more thing that I'm grateful for!

PS I almost forgot---we saw a beautiful blue heron standing on the edge of the water. Dave tried to sneak up to get a picture but the heron took wing and flew to the other side of the lake. It was just an amazing moment.

I so hear you! Great list! Thanks.
It balances me and feeds my soul to get into nature, but for my 10month collie x kelpie, he literally goes crazy, destructo-dog if I don't get him into the outdoors everyday!
Not to mention the 6 yo who loves exploring the creek!

Hi Banjo, I love your gratitude list! Linus is such a cutie! How wonderful to have him to accompany you on your walks. We have an awesome cat but the leash thing hasn't worked out. We would travel and do more fun stuff with her if she wouldn't run away!

I'm grateful for you and my other SP friends, my DG, my DS (who just called me), our cat, ETL, being vegan, and lots more.

Friday at last!

Friday, April 22, 2011

Well, I didn't lose any weight this week. I was a little disappointed because I'd been tracking my calories ever since my pizza and candy binge on Saturday. I don't think Saturday was enough to undo the whole week but there were a couple of things working against me. First, I had to eat out a few times. Even though I made good choices, the sodium was out of control. My sodium is fine when I cook for myself but eating out it's terrible. I can tell that from my fingers that I'm retaining water. The rings aren't spinning quite the way they were. Also, TOM seems to be arriving early. Oh, joy. I'm not too upset. I know the work I've done this week will catch up. I will just have to wait a few days.

The good news is that my Vita-Mix got here today! You can imagine what my menu will be like this weekend: blended. I'll be so happy to have my green smoothies back!

So, it will be a pretty homey weekend. I have lots of chores to do around the house. We're going to take Linus to the dog park tomorrow. Sunday, we'll have Easter dinner with my mom. The menu will be healthy so I don't think I have too much to worry about. I hope all of you have a lovely weekend wherever you are.

Yay, Banjo! I can't wait to read your daily blogs regaling us with what cool things come out of that VM! I know what you mean about your rings. Mine are a real indication of water retention from salt. It really is a long haul, this conversion to healthy eating. But overall, I do see progress, even on a day like this where I took a major detour but got back on track. Enjoy your VitaMix in good health!

Well, the track meet was a lot of fun! Dave's girls did great and I think they appreciated our coming. But we didn't get home until almost 11 and I made the mistake of drinking a BIG cup of coffee on the way home. That meant it took me forever to fall asleep and then it was nearly impossible for me to stay asleep. I did not sleep well at all. Which means today I am seriously tired. And, of course, the dog has a ton of energy and I have none. Uuuugh. Where is my husband?

Tomorrow is my weigh in. I don't know how I will do at all. Think weight loss thoughts for me.

Good news: The Vita-Mix gets here tomorrow!!! Woohoo!!!

Okay, I'm going to see if I can take this dog to burn off some energy...

Hey me too, for some reason I couldn't fall asleep last night. Good news is I'm finally starting to feel better. Went on a looong grocery shopping trip (trying to save money trip) and boy now I'm just tiered.

well at least the dog gives you some exercise (even if your to tiered...hahaha)

I'm sending some good weight loss luck to you.... emoticon emoticon

(by the way...I wieghed myself today...I was scared to look after the last couple of weeks of not great eating....I was down one pound....I was shocked)

Day Off

Wednesday, April 20, 2011

I took today off because we're going to Dave's daughters' track meet today. It's a little over a two hour drive so really I only needed to take a half day. But I figured I'd be nice to myself and just take a whole day to do chores that I've been neglecting and do fun stuff too. My friend from work brought me some seedlings from her greenhouse. I'm going to plant the broccoli and cauliflower seedlings today. The rest of them (two different varieties of tomatoes, poblano peppers, and jalapenos) along with some squash and zucchini of my own, will have to wait until it's just a little warmer. I'll be bringing the seedlings in and out for a while.

I also need to mow the backyard. It's a jungle back there. I like mowing the lawn though. I'm a strange girl.

My nutrition seems to be recovering. I still ate too many grains yesterday but everything else was on track. I had a lovely fruit salad this morning and it was so delicious. Lunch is already planned out too so I should be set there. Dinner is an unknown so I'm trying to get in a strong frame of mind. I didn't leave much wiggle room if I want to lose weight this week.

I better get going if I am going to accomplish all this! I hope everyone has a happy, healthy day!

sound like you have a great day planned.

I've been making a saute veggies with some beans (I add the greens in last). I use a little of all the veggies I have with some spices and boy is this good and pretty fast. Sometimes I have a sweet potato with this.

Have a great day emoticon

Sounds like a great day! Enjoy!!!

My back yard is a jungle too! I went out this week and finally cleaned it up from the winter mess (we own a dog) I had put pots of dead plants out back...felt good to pick it all for my husband to get the lawn mower out (it's been wayyy to rainy for that to this point tho). He say's that's his job...but I think it'd be fun exercise...but hey if he wants to do it..I'll let him!!!

Toxic Hunger

Tuesday, April 19, 2011

I will try to remember this the next time I think I want to go crazy with my eating on the weekend...The toxic hunger afterward is horrible. I'm glad I have a name for it now. Before I'd ever heard of ETL, I was describing toxic hunger to my husband. I know intellectually that there's no possible way I could actually be hungry but my body or brain or something is telling me that I want to eat. I've been fighting this for the last two days. Right now I'm typing to keep myself from eating. The smartest thing I ever did was send the Easter candy home with the girls. Otherwise, I'd be wiping it out right about now.

I think what I'll do is just go to bed. I can't eat in my sleep!
