Oh my goodness - my toes are so very unhappy after my concessions marathon yesterday. I did indeed spend 8 hours on my feet at the Mean Green Game. They won and so did I! I was so busy that all the concessions were not a distraction. I packed an apple and a kashi bar for snacking, never making it around to them. I also was careful to keep sipping water. As a result, I have wonderfully sore feet and I was so proud of myself this morning. I am tired, but there is no food hangover - if you are a junk food junkie (like me) you know what I am talking about.

Yay for me!

Got up this morning and the scale was down, thanks to my fabulous consumption of water and fruit (and some prescription meds), everything is exiting the building after a week of swollen feet. Salt is my vicious enemy which is why I am dreading the lights of the football games. There is nothing not salty at football games. So I am packing up my fruit and water and sneaking them in to the stadium tonight.

Tomorrow I will be serving the Mean Green fans during their first game of the season. It looks to be an 8-10 hour adventure in concessions as we raise money for our high school band. We have 7 fabulous seniors who need scholarships. I will be pushing the nachos and frito pie so these kids can have a future . . . does that sound bad. While I strive to stay within my weight watchers points with peanut butter on wheat and several baggies of fresh foods.

I am striving for a two pound loss - I just need to see that number and I will defy concessions regulations to do so emoticon

My Top 10 for Being Thin

Okay really it is my top ten for being healthy, I wanted my heading to rhyme.

1. I feel sexy when I am at a healthy weight.
2. My husband loves it when I feel sexy.
3. I want to be around to be an amazing mother, grand-mother, and God-willing, great-grandmother.
4. I love shoes. When I am comfortable in my clothes, I have lots of shoes. When I am at my goal weight, I shop - a lot! Hence, more shoes . . .
5. I can always find something I can wear.
6. I want my outside to match my inside. In my mind, I picture myself as an avid runner.
7. I want to reduce my chances of hereditary illnesses such as diabetes and heart disease.
8. I love getting pedicures. I reward each goal met with a pedicure.
9. I want to buy a bikini one day - and love it.
10. There is so much more to life than being overweight. I don't want my life to be controlled by how these pounds hold me back - and physically those nasty suckers do. I cannot wait to be free of each and everyone of those fun sucking pounds!

Bringing the Bigger Picture into Focus

Yesterday I rested. I didn't accomplish much but I did sort through pictures. I threw away several photos I was holding on to for unknown reasons. That's not true, I know the reason. I had several blurry, dark unrecognizable images of my children that I was holding onto because those were pictures of my babies. I knew what was behind the fuzzy streaks and black pages with faint outlines. My children are so precious to me that I was unwilling to part with the bad photos. But I did. I cleaned out the blurry images and even sorted through a pile of mother's day cards. I found my husband's birth certificate and carefully folded it into the envelope with mine. I spent hours sifting though one cardboard box that held many treasures and also a full bag of trash. It left me with a feeling of satisfaction with ripples of urgency to keep on going.

So what keeps me from throwing out the unrecognizable images that represent this lifestyle change? What is really holding me back from making real progress on this journey to healthy? Do I really want to open that box and start pulling out the trash?
