I need money!

Tuesday, May 25, 2010

I have been always wanting to work, but in the back of my mind, I am thinking of the "What ifs." You know, What if I am at work and my kids get sick? What choice do I have but leave my work and pick them up from school. What if my husband gets sick, well, he can probably handle it, but I am a worrier and so I will be consumed and text till I am too occupied to do my work. I know that I have to venture and earn my own money. Even though my husband has always said that whatever he makes is ours. I know that he earned it and he should enjoy it. It's so sad that once he makes it, we don't see it since it goes to bills and food. If I get a job, maybe the money I make can be something we can enjoy together. I am always worried that he is working too hard, but we are always playing catch up. He is a hard working man and very devoted to me and our kids. Next month, our oldest son is graduating from high school and our first daughter is graduating from middle school. I would love to throw them a party, but it's the cost that I am thinking about. Sigh, I need to win the lottery. $

That is a tough call. I stayed home when mine were young. But when it got to the point that financially it was a problem and we couldn't afford to do anything fun and the kids had to miss opportunities....it was time to make some changes. So - after YEARS of not working....off I went. My youngest was 11 and my oldest was 13. It was the best thing I ever did for all of us. The kids became more independent, I felt like I was making a difference and it eased things financially for us as well. And when the kids got sick....we dealt with it and it was never a serious problem. Of course, I had great bosses and that makes a huge difference too. Good luck on whatever you decide.....think it over carefully and then do what your heart tells you to do.

I so feel your pain. I have been staying home for 3 years to be with the kids and homeschool. Now that they are older the economy is tough I am thinking about going back to work and I list out pros and cons daily. I have even submitted resumes but not too sure I wanna give up my freedom.

second blog of the day

Sunday, May 23, 2010

Today I was wondering if my appearance had changed at all since the last time I got my picture done and I don't see much of a difference. I am a bit disappointed. I have lost 21 lb as of today and I was expecting some kind of change. Did anyone here have the same thing happen to them? I admit I am bigger than others, but usually when I lose weight, I see it in my face first. I noticed nothing. I will post it, but warning I usually don't wear any makeup when I am at home. The before picture was taken on March 30th and the after was just a few minutes ago. Let me know and be honest.

    Hey Pearl,
I got your message and I appreciate you wanting my opinion. But I hope you know it doesn't matter what other people think, it only matters how you feel about yourself! I do see a little difference in your face around your jawline & your checks. It's hard to tell about your body b/c you're wearing a big t-shirt & then you're wearing a fitted shirt. It is always best to take pictures in the same clothes or the same sort of clothes. I can tell you that you look much better in the second picture! Another thing that makes it harder to tell, is the first picture is closer up than the second. I'm pretty sure it's very discouraging not being able to tell much after 21 pounds, but the day will come when you won't have to worry about that anymore. I'm sure in person you can tell better, and I know you must feel better about yourself not to mention feel healthier. Keep doing what you're doing Pearl!!! We're all here to lend on and encourage and be honest with each other!! emoticon emoticon emoticonJackie

It took a long time for me to notice a change in my body size. I still ask my hubby & daughter to compare me to other people just to put it in perspective for me. I'll say "Am I bigger that that woman over there?" I trust that they will tell me the truth. Don't be discouraged if you don't see a difference yet. Just keep doing what you're doing...you'll get there.

It's hard to tell. Like the other posters, I'd suggest wearing the same thing to make it easier to see a difference. I notice a little slimming in the face as well.

21 pounds is AWESOME and don't let anyone (including you!) tell you otherwise!

Blessings in the new week,
Michelle

So, when my shirt is clean, I will do it again. Thanks for the reply. This is the kind of friends I want to hear from. As for the clothes, I have noticed that the back of my jeans are loose on me and that is good. I'll try not to be discouraged and keep on going. I just need some positive coming. These past two days has not been not so good and that is why I am trying to keep myself busy. Tomorrow is another day and will be a good test for me since I am lunching with a friend. She is also trying to lose weight too. emoticon

First of all thanks for trusting in me for my opinion. I also agree that you should take the after picture wearing the same thing. Sometimes clothes make the body look different. I do see a little bit of a difference in the face but not really the body. But maybe your loss was a lot of water because you do look less bloated, sometimes we retain a lot of water. So maybe that was part of the loss and that's why you can't notice it much. But don't let that discourage you, it means it's working and soon the fat is what will mostly be burning off and you will notice it more. Also how do your clothes feel? That's another great indicator. Like me, I don't see any difference in my tummy or face or were I would want to see it but when I put my jeans on they are super loose around the thigh and butt area. So even though I can't really see a difference I can tell I'm loosing it in other certain parts when I put on my clothes.

I think I can see a little bit in your face! I can tell you though that I didn't notice any changes in myself until I had lost over 20lbs either so don't feel discouraged. You are doing great and just keep going in the right direction!!!

    Hi Coleen,

Unfortunately, it's in the hamper. Maybe I will give myself another two months. Thanks for being honest.

I can't really tell, but I think if you are wearing the same clothes it will probably be more noticable. I would retake the pic in the same clothes.

Spring cleaning finally

Sunday, May 23, 2010

Last night while I was just sitting on my sofa, I looked around and realized how much I have let my housework go. Today, I am setting one hour for each room to pick up and purge. I am going to get the help from most of my kids since I know that I didn't make this mess all by myself. I figured if I am purging my weight off , I should do the same for my living space. Hopefully, I will get some exercise from this as well.

I choose quilting over housework and so I will "spring clean" each room 3 times a year, except for the kids. They do their own rooms.

Must be something in the air, I looked at my yard yesterday and started "purging" by getting my hand clipper and trimming bushes. I got one area done and now 4 more areas to go!!

oops

I slipped a bit just a few minutes ago. For lunch I could have had my regular lunch of grilled chicken with a salad, but instead chose to eat the leftover spaghetti from dinner. I don't feel so guilty eating because it has ground turkey instead of ground beef, but I know my portion was twice as usual. It has been a tempting day for me. These past few days has been and an up and down roller-coaster. I just hope that I get off of it soon.

Well here is the thing...you did it so don't feel guilty about it, Recognize it and make the decision not to do it again. I know how you feel because I have been having a craving week this past week too. You still ate something not that bad for you, you just had a healthier portion so cut back on a snack and have some extra water for the day. You can do it and stick with it! Have a great weekend!!!

The good thing to think about is that it's lunch, so it's still early enough to let your body work off the carbs right? :)

Hump Day!

Wednesday, May 19, 2010

After giving myself three hours to wake up and having breakfast, I can finally get on with my day. Today, my plan is to get moving. I'll be happy to walk for 20 minutes. My knee gets all stiff when I sit for too long and it hurts. My last major walk was this Sunday when my husband and I went to Philadelphia. I want to lose at least two-three pounds by May 30th. Yesterday, I changed my weight goal because in the beginning, I had it way too far off that it was not realistic. I noticed that I am losing 5 pounds a month, which I can accept. I am good with that. So, that is my goal. What's yours? emoticon emoticon

5 pounds a month is a very realistic goal. You want to lose it FOREVER and slow and steady is the way to win that race!

Hope your knee is continuing to heal up!

That is great. 5 pounds a month is always encouraging. My goal is 2 pounds a week. So far I have been able to average those 2oz.
Your poste has been encouraging to me and hope it will continues until you reach your goal weight.
