Tomorrow is the day! Viva Las Vegas!

Tuesday, October 05, 2010

Other than having to secure rides for my kids and making sure that my neighbor knows that we will be gone for the next six days, made dinner for them and froze them and make sure to leave them with some emergency money, I think I am getting more relaxed and ready to leave my kids. Tomorrow is also our anniversary so it will be fun to celebrate it while flying. emoticon I probably still have a few more things that I missed last night. I was packing around midnight so I think I was throwing things in and I was getting very sleepy. emoticon It has been raining way too long here in the east coast and it has stalled me from going on my trail. I am just hoping for some clearance, at least sneak at least 45 minutes. I am feeling sluggish. The time change is gonna be hard and I am sure it will be harder when we get home. Ok, now I am rambling. I won't be blogging until we are settled in our hotel. See you all later!

Two more days

Monday, October 04, 2010

Today, I have a grocery list of things still to do. I did all the laundry I can possibly do, I've got my dress to pick up today in this dreary rainy day, yuck! i haven't gone to the trail at all since this crappy weather began. I am hoping once we get to Vegas, I can use their gym or maybe walked the strip. I have to start packing today because we need to have it already in our car tomorrow night. We like to only get up on the day of departure to eat and go. I have to make a schedule for the kids so no one forgets to be wherever they need to be and secure rides for the kids who need rides since our school budget failed and no after school buses are available. That is the most frustrating feeling when I am not available and have rely on others. The last time we were away this long, I had my mom. Not gonna happen since mommy dearest and I are not at the best relationship since December. If you don't see any activities at all in the next five days, I am in Vegas with hubby and we are not going online as much as possible. I might not bring my laptop with me.

A wrap up of September

Friday, October 01, 2010

September was pretty nice to me. I did at least more than 90 min a week of exercise. Not in the 190s anymore. Trying really hard to drink at least 6 glasses of water or the equivalent of three water bottles. Not a 1X or a 2X, but an XL. I'm going for a size L by the end of November. So, I think I'm doing pretty well. I am hoping to get in my formal dresses that still have tags I purchased many years ago by Christmas. Yes, I know that my goal for those dresses were for Vegas, but you can't say I wasn't trying. The last time I tried on the dresses was about two weeks ago. Maybe today or Sunday I will try them on again.

You hear that? It's the sound of silence

Tuesday, September 28, 2010

No, I will not be singing Simon and Garfunkle. It was a bit crazy this afternoon because I was trying to figure out how to be in two places at once. Too bad these scientists haven't figured out how to transport the body like Star Trek. It's a good thing my husband had to stay up longer to pick up my daughter while I had to take my other daughter to her karate class. He was up for 26 hours. He does 12 hour shifts at the hospital and unfortunately the only way he can get his internal clock back to normal is to stay up. The poor guy has an early meeting tomorrow so he is hopefully sleeping now. These past three days, I have been cooking dinners to store in the freezer so I don't have to worry about what they are eating while we are in Vegas. So far I have cooked four meals. My second oldest son can cook three days. We haven't been this far west since the boys were toddlers. Now that they are much older, we have to start trusting them but still have rules to adhere to. Tomorrow, my walking buddy can't go with me because she has an appointment that she had to postpone last week. It's a good thing, because I was planning to do some catch up tomorrow. I had to cut my trail because I had realized I left my dog unattended and not in the dog crate. Luckily when I got home, she was still in the same place I had seen her before I left. Tomorrow marks our 7 days left. The whole thing hit me today when I finally started getting replies from the chapel coordinator. I am just disappointed that she wants me dressed already. I don't want my husband to see me in it till I walk down the aisle. I am trying to have them pick him up first and then ten minutes later, the limo can turn back and get me. Now I know why I didn't get so hands on the first time, stressful. emoticon Ok breathe in, breathe out. emoticon emoticon

I had my last fitting today and oh boy

Monday, September 27, 2010

Today was my last fitting and by next week, I will be picking it up. I had a bit of a scare because I heard her say the Uh, oh words. At first I started feeling a bit scared that I had gained weight and it's not closing. The clasp was missing and so she couldn't close the dress all the way up. She added an enhancer on my bustle and it's almost like the necklace I am wearing. I can't believe that it's only 9 days away and we will be there in Vegas. I gathered all the clothes that I am planning to pack , and I am ready to go. Now all I have to do is to make sure that my darling husband has a few dress shirts and new pants to wear. I am definitely going to run more this week. I am getting a bit nervous because I will have to get someone else help me in this dress. Someone that I am only going to meet a few minutes before the ceremony. I just got so used to having the seamstress help me zip the dress. I haven't felt like this in many years. Tell me that this is normal?

Pearl, you are going to be gorgeous! Remember your goal is to lead a healthier lifestyle and that fitting into your beautiful dress is just one success along on the way. Take a few moments every day to savor that thought. You can take deep breaths while you're waiting at the stop lights this week while playing taxi driver for the kids and doing your shopping errands!

Totally normal! I am a wedding photographer and see many wedding dresses being put on :-) If it is a simple zip you'll be OK. Good thing it's not one of those 10,000 button corset styles.

Just a little prep goes a long way. Make 100% sure you know how to do your bustle, if you will have someone do it up after you have it on already. Take pictures of it being done, and have them on hand. Write down instructions on how to do it. I have worked with brides who completely forget how to do it, in the excitement of the day or on a super tight timeline. Know that whoever is doing it, if they are with the chapel, has done it before.

Make sure you can locate and then most importantly - use - the wrist loop which is kind of like a ribbon loop; it should be already sewn into the underside of your dress on the center seam. This will keep the underside of it clean(er). You might also want to grab a few large safety pins in case your clasp breaks again. I was at a wedding this past weekend and the bride was missing hers too.

All that aside, I'm sure you will have a gorgeous wedding :-) You're a beautiful bride! Enjoy every second of your day, and don't sweat the small stuff.
