Well, today is Thursday, and what a rainy miserable day it is here in Jersey! But, first thing this morning I went to spinning class, even though I just wanted to stay in my nice warm bed with the covers pulled up over my head. But I refused to buckle to the temptation and was glad I did. I got there a little early so I did some extra ab work first. I don't think my class was at my usual energy level standards, but I pushed through just the same. I think a couple of things affected me today: 1. I didn't drink any water before I left for the gym 2. my breakfast didn't include enough protein(just had a 100 cal english muffin with a smear of PB and 1/2 a banana) 3. yesterday I did a leg workout and my legs felt fatigued. But, it was still a great workout and I was in a full-blown dripping sweat at the classes conclusion.
I just read Coach Dean's story and what a miraculous change he's made. Much of what he said about his before in terms of not getting out of bed except to get something to eat, sounded very much like me...but not anymore, thankfully!

we're pondering the past and worrying about the future.
How funny that a cartoon character would utter these words(Ziggy)! But how true they are. I'm still working on this in my lifestyle make-over. I tend to look back and feel guilt over all the wasted years(I'm sure I've beaten this up enough in my other blogs)but I am trying to do a better job of living in the here and now. It's a daily struggle, but when you go places(today I went to my video store and the clerk said, "boy going to the gym must really be working" and I said "why's that?" and she said "because I can really see the difference")and people who don't know me or don't remember me from when I was obese(two people who have commented this week about seeing the weight coming off)say they can see the difference, that's just such a boost. It makes me realize that regardless of the past, the present is pretty terrific.
It is official though, I'm a "spin-a-holic)I really love this class and look forward to going each day. Of course, getting my weight loss going again helps motivate me as well!

and just getting to my postings. Today was another great spinning class. I'm constantly amazed at how each class is different, but always intense. I would encourage everyone to give it a try. The 45-60 minutes just fly by in this class as opposed to running on the treadmill. I want to continue to take these classes during the summer and add a nice outdoor run in the evenings once the weather gets nice around here.

Well, I'm down another pound this week! It seems I've finally revved things up and got the scale moving a little more freely again. I am focused on 1 pound a week now, even though I'd love to lose more than that, I just think it's not physically possible to do so at this stage in my weight loss program. So, now I have 16 pounds to go until I reach my goal weight! I'm getting excited about finally getting out of the "over" catagory for my BMI. I also want to get my waist measurment to 32"-the healthy range. That being said however, that will be the beginning of my most difficult challenge---keeping the weight off. I feel confident that I have the tools I need to do that now, and the motivation as well.
Today I went to the gym and did my lifting program and then I took a spinning class. After that I had a few more exercises to complete my workout and as I was finishing up, another gym goer asked me to introduce her to the spinning bikes and set her up, as she's wanting to try a class since I've been telling her how much I like going. That meant I got on the bike for another 20 minutes to show her how to do the moves and what they were called. Oh, and I also ran for 15 minutes pre-lifting workout!!! So, I'd say I got my cardio in today! I'm feeling a bit fatigued, but I'm sure I'll feel better after a shower.

Well it's Easter, the holiday of chocolate and food(and of course religion)and to add to the mix, my daughter's birthday cakes(ice cream and chocolate). However, I did well with my food and started my day off very well by going to the gym. I had intended to do the Sunday spinning class, but, they don't hold class on holidays(duh! should have known that). But, I had my iPod so I did my own, it wasn't as intense as a regular class, but I got into a great sweat and felt it in my legs. I was pleased that I didn't turn around and leave, but instead got a good workout in.
Tomorrow's weigh-in and I hope all goes well!
