Angel's Gate, HELP!

Saturday, March 21, 2009

I came across Angel's Gate (www.angelsgate.org). They take in animals of all kinds who would otherwise be shunned from the general population. These animals were either injured "on the job" (sometimes illegal), brought in after being accidentally/purposely injured at home or born with a defect. This wonderful place strives to take care of these beautiful babies in need, but right now they economy has hit them so incredibly hard. They run on donation and most of these donations have dropped almost 20%. They desperately need not only money but supplies and skilled craftsman to help build up their small home. As of right now they will no longer be able to take on new animals and this makes me heartsick. I just want them to get the help they not only deserve but desperately need. I implore you to read through their website and give anything you can afford. No donation is too small. And if you can't afford donate (I can only give $10 a month) don't be embarrassed, just spread the word. If you or a family member work in a corporation, or have contacts to some organization or are apart of a sorority/fraternity/college organization get people talking about this place.

Spread the word, please?

I'm giving them a donation in lieu of birthday gifts this year simply, because it would make my day to see them taken care of for a year. And if my gift can help? Then it's the best thing I could do for myself, imo. They're very close to my heart.

A WHOLE YEAR!?

Friday, September 26, 2008

So I was shocked when I realized I haven't written a blog entry since August, that's insane! I don't know where my head's been. Ok, that's a lie, it's been on school and work. Both are going great! Well, I'm plodding along in school, anyway. :D

It's been a bit of a merry-go-round lately with my weight. It either stays the same or climbs a bit then goes back down. Safe to say I've been a little stuck. Which is ok, I'm fine with that, to be honest because at least I haven't gained it all back. I've managed to keep what I've had off for A WHOLE YEAR. That's amazing. I've never done that before and I'm insanely proud of myself. I've kept up with the gym since May and it's been fantastic. It definitely keeps me from giving up on it all together.

However, I know I have to make a bigger effort with SparkPeeps, because people have been so amazing on here. I just never seem to have the time to reply to anyone! Ok, I take that back, I haven't made the time to do it. I promise to reply to some people by the end of the weekend. You guys are awesome and way too sweet. *hugs all of you* Thank you for being my spark friends.

Congratulations!! A whole year is incredible :) I'm glad to see that you're still around, I was getting worried!

My weight is just kind of stuck, gaining and loosing the same five pounds, so I'm gonna try SP and WW to see if I can't snap out of it a bit.

Have a great week!

    Hey Brits,

Nice to see you back on the blogs. I know how you feel sometimes things just get on top of you and what you say you'll do never eventuates.

So glad that you have kept your weight off, I wish I could say the same. Stinking menopause is playing havoc with my bod at the moment.

Hope your job is going well and you are feeling great.

Cheers

Settling in and Making Changes

Tuesday, August 12, 2008

So I've settled into the job somewhat and I love it. I really do. This new job is definitely something I love to do. It's not something I want to do the rest of my life (it's not an actual, actual teaching job, more of a caretaking sort of thing) but it's a step in the right direction.

With these set hours I am SO ready to be back into this SPeeps thing. I keep going in and out but now is the time to be a good friend and honestly get back into the flow of doing blogs. I just wish there was a way to see all of your friends personal blogs through your sparkpage, like a link. It's so much easier but that's what I get for being lazy. *snorts*

Congrats on the new job and loving it. I agree with Juleen - enjoying your job is so important. You have some fantastic hours.

P.S. Ever thought about putting a buzz in the Spark Coaches' ears about the friends' blogs on your sparkpage - that is a great idea.

    Brits my lovely,

Thanks for stopping by my blog and for the well wishes. I am feeling much better now, almost dangerous!!

I'm glad you're job is going well, don't worry if it's not an actual teaching job, just enjoy it. It doesn't matter what you do as long you do it the best you can and enjoy it.

What the...new job???

Tuesday, July 29, 2008

So I applied for an afternoon position with with a church that runs a daycare. It would be me taking care of school-aged children (K-6) from 3 to 5:30/6:00. The pay is good, no more or less than I've made before but I'm in LOVE with the hours. It's Monday through Friday only three hours a day, weekends off and that is perfect for school. On paper this thing sounds pretty close to perfect. I need work experience, so this'll look great for my resume when I go out for my real career.

Wow, I'm just...so happy it worked out. I couldn't believe that they called me back let alone talked to me all of ten minutes and just offered up the job. I'm so excited. I can't believe it. I was sad to put my two weeks in at Kohl's and I felt bad b/c I totally love the management there. It's sad but I had to take this, darn it.

Guys, WOW! And I went to the gym today and worked out for forty-five minutes plus strenght-training. It's been a heck of a good day. :D emoticon
