I walked 54 miles in May and lost 2 pounds. I was so proud of what I did! I felt good! Walking is one thing but keeping up with it and seeing the number is so cool!
I went on vacation 2nd week of June and since then I have taken a break from working out. I did log the majority of my food in June and I did lose 2 pounds as well. It got so hot that I couldn't continue to walk at the park so I decided to get back on the elliptical. I only did 20 minutes the 6 days I did it, when I was doing 40 back in April. I worked out probably 10 days total in June. I feel really bad that I didn't do more. I really felt like I needed a break. I AM NOT GIVING UP...Not now, come too far and still have a ways to go. Just needed to breathe!
Then it was June 30th and I went on a trip out of town thru July 4th. Now here it is July 7th and I've not logged any food or exercise since June 30th, until today. Again, I feel bad about this.
So, I'm leaving to go w/ DH on the road this Saturday. We will be driving most of the time and sleeping when we can. He doesn't stop at many rest areas so I am just going to have to try to WALK anywhere I can. I've decided to take my tennis shoes, plenty of Zone and Luna Bars, a 1/2 gallon of milk, grapes, quakes, light lays, yogurt, measuring cup, funnel . The last time I went, I took some granola bars but didn't eat them...Instead ate truck stop food and fast food for all 3 meals which is junk that I don't need! I'm sure at least 1 meal a day will have to be eaten out but the rest of the time I'm going to try to survive on my protein bars/milk/fruit for breakfast & lunch.
I guess I'm worried...Worried that the 2 pounds I gained on this last trip won't be gone before I go off and being so sedentary in the truck for a week will ruin me! I feel like I'm prepared. I won't have a computer with me but I can try to log in from my cellphone which isn't the easiest. So NO SP for a week...
I guess I just want everyone to know where I'm at and what I'm doing and that as of July 17th I want to get back into this thing FULL SWING! I mean back to my working out 6 days/week, logging my food every day, making my great choices. I've had a month to enjoy stuff and relax and now it's time to get to it! I would love to be under 200 by my birthday which is Aug 16th.
I've set a couple of goals for myself in the Sparklers challenge - Strength train 3-4 days per week, eat more fruits/veggies and stay w/in range 6 days per week. Please CHEER ME ON and please feel free to stop by and PUSH me to get in my GROOVE starting 07/17! I may or may not be on after this Saturday thru the 16th.

Today was great on the eating front! I came in under calories probably b/c I didn't eat breakfast. I slept til after 10 and didn't get out of bed until 1030ish so I just had lunch around 11:30. I didn't do much today, just rested, relaxed, stayed on the computer most of the day Sparking and Facebooking! Uploading vacation pics and seeing what's been going on while I've been away. I got caught up on my favorite dvr'd shows - The Bachelorette, Master Chef, Jerseylicious, Real Housewives of Orange County, repeats of Frasier and 25000 Pyramid! I know...I'm crazy! LOL Kardashians and a new show featuring Ice T and his wife start tonight...I'm recording them.
I also ordered my new phone - Samsung Fascinate! I can't wait to get it. I can't believe I've went this long without getting a new smartphone! DH got one 2 weeks ago and I'm in love with it! So, I finally got a shower and dressed around 530 went by the bank and to Kroger for a few things. Here's what I got!!
Avacados (Plan on making guac tomorrow to go w/ my chicken fajitas for dinner!) Anyone have a good GUAC recipe? I want a chunky one!)

My Dad had grilled some sausages yesterday before I left so I brought home a couple of pieces. We had 2 different kinds, Hillshire Farms polska kielbasa & the lite kielbasa. I ate the LITE!
We also had some of that AMAZING PUBLIX CORN! I made some Uncle Bens Long Grain & Wild Rice (with 24 seasonings & herbs - delicioso!) I added a side salad and it looked so good and pretty healthy so I decided to take a pic of it!
It was really good and filling! I like to mix my salad dressings b/c I don't like a dry salad. I used 2 tbsp of lite balsamic ving and 2 tbsp of lite thousand island w/ some bacon bits mixed in!
Oh and my garden is looking wonderful! I have corn, tomatoes, peppers, hot peppers, squash and a melon or two I believe. Can't wait til I get some fresh veggies! I have a pic of my tomatoes from last summer. Hoping this years crop is just as wonderful! Last years tomatoes:
Anyway, glad to be back home where I have my whole wheat bread, my skim milk, my turkey sausage, sf popcicles and all the other things I love!

I went to Florida with my StepMom and a lady we used to work with. It's a "Girls Trip" that we've decided to take once a year. We all planned on having a good time, doing what we wanted, not being on a schedule, getting our drink on, eating what we wanted, getting lots of sun, frolicking in the ocean, blah blah blah!
I hated to ruin all of my hard work but also didn't want to be missing out on the fun. So, I decided to go with the flow and eat whatever and drink whatever. When I left home I was around 204-205.
I was hoping to maintain or at least only gain a few pounds. I am getting on the scale Monday morning and will see what it's reading. I'm so nervous! I am going to share my food and exercise or lack there of for the days we were gone.
I didn't workout Saturday or Sunday of last weekend. Monday was not feeling well most of the day and had so much last minute stuff to do, no workout then either. Tuesday after work I was traveling to my StepMom's and we got pedicures and shopped that evening so no workout. Wed-Sat = NO workout. I just needed a break so I took it. I might even take tomorrow off and get back to it Monday after work. Then again, I might get on the elliptical tomorrow!
I am used to getting 7-8 hours of sleep during the week days and about 9-10 on the weekends. I LOVE TO SLEEP! Sunday night I couldn't sleep and only got about 2 hours of sleep. I was so hyped up and then Monday night I tried to go to bed by 8 but didn't go to sleep til about 930 so I got about 8 hours. Tuesday night about 6.5. The rest of the week because my StepMom and Gail get up with the chickens I only got 5-7 hours a day if that. So not my type of vacation as far as my sleep is concerned but I went with the flow!

I feel like I have pigged out and I did indeed. I tried to do good at lunch and breakfast most days and have my fun in the evenings but they wanted to drink soooooo much! Looking up the calorie counts for MARGARITAS and they are DEADLY as is the MCD's Biscuit I had this am. But I haven't had a biscuit in 4-5 months! I know I didn't have to do it but I just wanted to be a part of the fun and care free. I know that is what got me to where I am now but I know now that I'm back home it's right back on track and back to WORK and by WORK I mean WORKING OUT and EATING CLEANER!
I have another trip I will be going on July 4th weekend and want to get back into the groove for the next 3 weeks and see what I can get done! This trip will be w/ DH to his hometown. I know that I can easily stay on track for breakfast but have no idea what will end up doing for lunch and dinner. He will be drinking AS USUAL but this trip I'm not going to waste many calories on drinking esp b/c I will be driving him around! We are going to 1 family cookout so I might have a drink then and maybe one at the fireworks.

Decided to blog about where I walk. Some very interesting and weird things I notice while walking! Thought I'd share maybe you can get a laugh or maybe they are all "had to be there's" LOL
I was walking at the main track at our Park - Starr Park. It's gravel/sand mixture and it's very dusty. It's a huge Park Complex with a large playground and couple of gazebos and benches, etc in the middle of the track. Outside the track surrounding is soccer, baseball fields and pavillions for picnics etc and then the community pool and mini golf game area. Very nice...The gravel/sand got old quick as did the people! On Friday May 20th - the last day of school it was like a huge hang out zone for all the kids! They were walking the opposite way on the track and wouldn't move out of my way. I was SO ANNOYED! I then decided to go back over to a much smaller "Park" area that I had walked at before.
This Park is right across the street from my library. It's on Main St. about 2 minutes away from the other Park. This particular park isn't really for walkers, notice a sign saying "Walking Track Located At Starr Park" - oh well LOTS of people choose to walk over here. This is a paved drive and the same 'road' the cars drive on, is the same 'road' you walk on. So, it's not as easy b/c you might have to be paying attention to cars coming! It's very slow and laid back and most people respect those walking. As long as you walk on either side of the road, no problems especially if you're wearing your ipod and cannot hear the cars behind you. Anyway, I've noticed lots of people "live" here! They are there all the time, no matter if I walk in the am, afternoon, pm they are there. Chilling out in their cars just "there". Some people meet others "there" after work I'm assuming. LOTS TO ASSUME at this park! LOL
Wed May 25th
Lady and Man meet after work...both from different counties. She gets in his truck and they "chat" for hours. When I'm leaving the park, I look back to see if anyone is walking around and if they are, I WAIT until they pass to back out...common courtesy as to not inconvience them from their walking. So the man leaves, then the lady waits until I get right up on her van and puts it in reverse so I jump back and over to the grassy area! She sees me giving her the evil eye. Then once she gets up beside me she rolls down her window and says she's sorry. I was pissed by then and wouldn't even look at her, instead I just said that's okay and kept walking. After she left I felt sort of bad for not looking over and acknowledging her. At least she stopped to apologize! I guess everyone isn't like me and thinks about things like waiting until people pass.
Fri May 27th
Not crowded at all...One man comes to walk his pug. So cute!! I am almost done walking go stand beside my car to stretch, am in the position, look down to see not 1 but 2 used condoms! GROSS! I freaked out and jumped moving over to another area. Just couldn't believe it! AS IF! So, the man approaches and I just had to point it out so he could be grossed out with me! LOL He said, yes that the park is open til 10pm and with tinted windows no one can see what they are doing in their cars! I was like OMG! To each their own, times are hard, no $ for a hotel room! LOL...I am not saying any of this is wrong b/c I couldn't have been there done that before myself but I would never discard my evidence for other humans to see! The bad thing about it, that same afternoon when I pulled in the park maintenance were there picking up trash! Guess they were too grossed out to pick those up! Sunday when I went they were gone...Who knows!

Only a few people there today...A lady pulls up in her car drove into the park like a bat out of hell. She gets out leaving her kids in the car goes over to a bench sitting on a concrete form and sits on the concrete and starts writing on something on the bench. ODD...Just ODD...LOL As I get around, she's back in the car, the kids sitting there with the door open then they leave. WEIRD

A lemon creme pie colored 1980 (could be earlier) long bodied Cadillac pulls in. Guy opens the door, no shoes on just socks...he's reaching in the back assuming he's grabbing his tennis shoes. Nope...by the time I get back around he's hanging out of the car, has taken his socks off and is clipping his toenails. WOW! I guess he had good sunlight to see every nook and crannie! As I get back around he's out of the car moved to the bench with some flip flops on and a black shirt hanging over his head. I thought it was a woman that had showed up...I don't wear my eye glasses to walk! Later he removed shirt and I could tell it was him.
No walking today worked few hours overtime and am off to do my BL cardio! I hope you enjoyed, I will add more later if anyone finds it funny!
