First thing to say... I decided I am definitely doing the Fort 2 Base run on 9-11. I wanted to do the 9.5 mile run before I made this decision in case the 8 mile run I did two weeks before was easy on a fluke!
SO... I did the magic mile deal last week and it changed my training pace, etc. Very glad it did as trying to do a 14 minute pace was not easy. So now I am at a 13:28 training pace.
I got my new fuel belt! EARLY
I wasn't expecting it till Tuesday, but it showed up Saturday.
So, I loaded up two bottles w/ water and two bottles with gatorade, put my Gu Chomps in the pocket and off I went... I followed my 8 mile route as that path was quite nice.
It was 60 degrees w/ 10 mph wind.
I started out a bit faster than I was supposed to, but got to a 13:28 pace easily enough. I got to my turn around point and all was good. Then the next five minute chime said I had run 22 miles. AUGH I hate when the GPS goes wonky on me. I should have stopped then and there and reset runkeeper so I would have had a better account of the run, but I didn't think about it till it was too late. At the end of the run, it said I ran 72 miles!
But, I knew how many miles I ran and the time and I just checked runkeeper for my 8 mile run and I AM FLOORED...
Distance Duration ave pace calories
8.06..........1:53 ......... 14.07 .... 584
9.5 ......... 1:57 .......... 13.28 ... 760 (guessing)
AMAZING... I ran 1.5 miles MORE in just 4 more minutes than this 8 mile run. I was really surprised! Weather was about the same too. Run was not hard, my intervals changed from 40/30 to 70/60 and I was barely winded so I am taking this as a very good sign!
I had a section when I was a mile from home where I had to cross two lanes of traffic and I sprinted and I HAD IT IN ME!! Very excited.
Gu Chomps are so the way to go if you have Gu texture issues like I do. They were like gum drops, but didn't get stuck to my teeth as much as gum drops do!
So wow. What a run
Then... there is the to top my day... my friend called to let me know that there is an opening where she boards her horse. Now I was going to move Biff back to Caledonia (I so miss it) when my friend put up her barn. She thinks end of October, my BF says no way, much later. Well now I can move SOONER, like maybe the end of this month??? I have a call into the barn manager to see about getting in.
This is so on many counts. Not only will I be back on the trail system I love so much, I'll have my riding partners, I'll have a horse I can borrow for friends to ride and the board difference is 50%!!!
I am such a happy camper.
Oh, and shopping for a new pair of after work!
