Personal Trainer today!

Tuesday, June 14, 2011

Hello all in Sparkland!!!

This morning was a 30 minute run on rolling hills.

Program: 1/2 Marathon, Galloway week 4
Distance 2.61 miles
time 31 minutes
average pace 10.30
course rolling hills
temp 60 degrees
humidity 57%

Run was okay. Still a little sore from all the gardening an the 5 mile run from the weekend. Still do not like the lower calorie burn especially when other work outs have to be postponed.

I suppose today is okay though as I am meeting w/ the Personal Trainer to go over a game plan tonight instead of going to Curves. Will let everyone know how that turns out.

Dancing is also slowing down now. No more lessons till fall, so now every other Wed is free...YIPPY.. Think I'll add this a horse day!

Found out my great place for the lilies cannot be as that is how the bob cat gets into the beech. emoticon so now I have to find someplace else to plant 10 lilies and FAST! emoticon

Hope you find a good home for those lilies, love em :) At least you have cool weather for them..
Good luck with the PT.
Another horse day is great!!
If you were still sore from your previous exercise, it is correct to be taking it more easy and recovering rather then pushing and possibly injuring sore muscles...

Replanting lilies in that weather should be nice. I've been trying to plant flowers in 90+ degrees and stifling humidity. Should have waited til today as it's overcast. I wish I could run. I will cheer you on instead until I can! Go YOU!

Yay for a run on rolling hills!! You do run pretty fast. Hope the soreness works itself out quickly. Lower calorie burn is not what I aim for, either.
Have fun with the PT!! I hope she gives you some useful info.
Yay for a horse day!! I bet he'll love it.
Poor lilies and you for having to move them.

Holy cow! I ran over 5 miles!

Monday, June 13, 2011

I did this Sunday and I am still stoked over it!
emoticon emoticon emoticon
I mapped it out in the car on Saturday. I had a few ways to go, the flat way w/ a bit of a large hill, but divided up into three large steps.. ends up being just as high as the big kahuna hill!

Avoid the hill but run a bit up hill around BLIND corners.. uh don't like that one!

Run the big kahuna hill and then go right or left for a short distance and back.

I chose the one w/ the three steps.

Program: 1/2 Marathon, Galloway week 3
Distance 5.18 miles
time 66 minutes
average pace 10.30
course flat w/ 3 stepped tiered huge hill
temp 65 degrees
humidity 57%

emoticonWOW. I admit when I drove it out, I was like I can't do this, this is a huge jump. Normally my mileage increases in 1/3 of a mile, this was more than 3/4 of a mile from my furthest run. It was misty and 99% humidity and I didn't feel good, so I decided to run Sunday vs Saturday.

Sunday shows up to be a gorgeous sunny day, 65 and humidity at 57% and I felt great and had the attitude that

I CAN SO DO THIS.

and I did!! I don't like the work out I designed though. I was playing w/ the runkeeper and ran 1/2 miles, walked 1/4, ran 1/4, walked a 1/4 and then repeated. I'll change the work out for the next long run to be run 5-7 minutes, recover 1 minute and repeat till done.

I did so much gardening this weekend!! 4 hours on Saturday pulling weeds, raking. Then after the run Sunday, I did 2 or more hours weeding and planting flowers. Adding a lily section to the pond area and got 6 peonies! Love peonies!

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

I'm a little keg of dynamite!

Friday, June 10, 2011

emoticon emoticon and I like it! emoticon
I finally got to stop playing phone tag w/ the PT and we talked today. She had notes on me already and said 'hmm, let me see, oh yes, from Deb (Zumba instructor) she is a little keg of dynamite'

Please hold on while I bask in my infamous glory

Admit it, I made you all LOL didn't I?

This running yesterday instead of Friday has me all thrown for a loop... today is a run day but I ran yesterday... augh. I need to DO something... I checked the temps and it was 63 at 1:15 but at 2 is supposed to be 69, so as soon as I am done with this blog, I'll at least get in a power walk.

Then I'll have to gather up my nutritional print outs (thanks SP for providing that!) and my work outs and average calories burned during the week. I'm going to meet the PT for a sit down at Starbucks (gag me) on Tuesday evening.

and emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon(that's drumroll, did you get it? Crazydogladybo did I'm sure) This weekend will be my longest ever run emoticonusing the Galloway 1/2 plan, will be doing my 5 mile run. Longest to date is 4.16.

Have a fabulous weekend all!!!

Ohhh looky what I found...

Thursday, June 09, 2011

I found that I can set up my OWN coaching tool in Runkeeper! How cool is that???

I was out to start looking for something where you could set up your chimes and such. I know people like Gymboss but it does not work with Runkeeper and I admit... I'm a runkeeper junkee...

I decided to do the Galloway training for a 1/2 even though the week runs are short to me. But this also means I can sleep more emoticon emoticon

My good friend Dee mentioned you work harder on other things during the week, like speed and hills. Hmm. Okay 25 minutes around the lake will get me speed work AND hills! If I'm not running for 50 minutes, I might as well really work it right? emoticonso I did the hills in reverse, did my speed work using the telephone poles for about 1/4 of the run. Then came the hills and I was done. Hmm 25 minutes seems like such a short run to me. Oh well.. I guess I'll read the book to understand more emoticonstuff emoticon

This weekend I'll do the 5 mile run. Longest I have done is 4.16 running 8/9 minute intervals with 1 minute walk breaks. I set up a coach with .5 mile run, .25 mile walk, .25 run, .25 walk, then repeat till it makes 5 miles... will see how it goes. Just tickled I found it on the Runkeeper app so I just have to run one vs a few... now I really have to update my iTunes for play lists!!

Run this morning
Curves w/ Zumba tonight
Date night

what more can a girl want? emoticon ooh a personal trainer... off to make the phone call!

Sometimes you have to take one for the team...

Wednesday, June 08, 2011

I got guilted into not running this morning last night. My BF was not as stern as the night before but did approach the subject very carefully and very concerned.

First he asked if I was planning on running, then said he wished I would reconsider or at least cut back and only do 1/2 of what I was planning. Then kept saying it's not normal to be this hot this time of year, you haven't built up to the heat yet, etc. It was 86 degrees at 9 p.m.

I made a comment my bike tires were flat and needed the compressor. He asked if I could wait til the weekend, I said I could. I bet if I said no, he would have gone out right then and there and filled the tires!

At 6 a.m. it was 78 degrees. Yuk. My BF left at 3 a.m. to go to work out of state and at that point was not sure if he'd be back tonight or not, and I figured god if anything DID happen, I so wouldn't hear the end of it.

So I plan on going to Curves tonight, so I have something to do. I'll run tomorrow if it's not a torrential downpour. It's supposed to be 58, that's more like it!

SO.... I finally called the personal trainer number I was given and right now we are playing phone tag. I am impressed with her msg back to me, very up beat and motivational! This is a good sign!

ooh, another reason to take one for the relationship... I'm thinking of getting a kitty!!!! He is more of a dog lover, but I've always wanted a cat. Taite was already tested with the kitten. We should be good!

Heat does take time to adapt to. Extra water and shorter runs for a while are prudent. Thinking as much about the relationship health as your own health is a positive also!

I tell you running in heat isn't good for you at all - so just take care of you and know that you can do other things for a workout and make up the run later on a cooler day - just be careful in heat!

and good luck with the kitty! :)

GRNISHADE 6/8/2011 6:43PM

He has a point... living in Florida, I deal with extreme heat all summer long. It does take adapting to and it does take extra hydration. It is ALWAYS better to be safe than sorry when it comes to heat stroke and heat stroke can blind side you out of nowhere! I generally don't even try and do anything strenuous outside from 10am to 4pm during the peak of summer.

BTW, I currently have four dogs and five cats, not the mention the horses and chickens and my dogs and cats all get along with no problems! It was a requirement that my BF (now my DH) love critters of all kinds!

_LINDA 6/8/2011 6:35PM

It may have been for the best not to run in the heat. Your bf only cares for what is best for you even if it seems overbearing.. At least Curves is air conditioned and you can work out as hard as you want to..I hope that PT works out, will be interesting to hear what she does for you.. Can't say I am thrilled that the overwhelming majority of females on here prefer cats :( I would rather have a dog than a doormat.. Runs before the claws come out..

Good call!!!! Many moons ago (in the days b/4 we all carried cell phones all the time - yes I'm THAT old!), I went out for a run alone. I fell and broke my foot, and literally crawled about 1/2 mile to the nearest road where a luckily kind motherly type took mercy on me and drove me home.

You done good! Now enjoy Curves and the PT!
