Super fast one!!

Thursday, June 02, 2011

Wow... where does the time go? Okay.. got back from a power walk as I can't do Zumba tonight (boo) but horse has to have his feet trimmed.

Planning another 4 mile run tomorrow morning, then it's off to shuttle the pups to the kennel, then we are getting on a jet plane to surprise visit my BF's best friend from childhood. Should be fun!

SO.... I'll be MIA till Monday sometime...

Everyone have a GREAT weekend!

Hello all in Sparklyland!! Today is National Running Day and I celebrated with a 4.1 mile emoticonthis morning!

Program: G8K W3D2
Distance 4.1 miles

average pace 10.30

We are dancing tonight to a National Caller that yodels... lots of fun! Won't be doing the whole dance though as my BF has to get up uber early tomorrow. Which is probably a good thing as I'm yawning already ready!

Hope everyone has a GREAT day!

A body knows best!

Tuesday, May 31, 2011

Interesting that a little too much emoticonand not enough emoticonthe night before did not stop me from emoticon on Friday morning.

But two hours digging and planting a raspberry patch and weeding a huge flower bed, no emoticonand lots of emoticonhad me hitting my snooze alarm way too many times so I got up way to late to get a emoticon in this morning. emoticon

Guess a body knows when it really needs it's rest eh? I was .4 miles from my estimated mileage for the month of May. Not upset considering they were all running and I did some personal bests... and if I didn't run a 5K in there, I would have run over 4 miles that day vs the 3.1... so, I know I can do it. There is JUNE!

I was going to go to the wake for my friend today and then realized just how far it is. 1 hour there and 2 hours home and it's all highway that is under construction, rush hour traffic and a huge thunder storm. um... then I thought more about it and there is only 2 people I would want to see so I called one and we talked. She even said stay home! So I will remember my friend by doing something healthy for my emoticon and will do my Curves work out tonight.

Tomorrow morning.. I'll be up early to hit the pavement emoticon NOT the snooze alarm! Later that night we have a National Caller to dance too emoticon

hope everyone had a great Memorial Day weekend!!

Oh goodness.. almost forgot. Sunday I went to Under Armor, they were having a sale see... I made out like a bandit!! The top left is pink and gray mesh, $12.00, bottom left red and white mesh, $8. Both of these are the typical HeatGear material. The two on the right were also $8 each and are the new feels like cotton but performs like Under Armor material. SCORE!

Way to go with your running! Awesome find on the tops!!
Digging is hard work, great exercise, so you do need recovery time from that.
Keep up the great work, bet your June is going to be awesome, showing off all those new tops on your runs ;)

You will definitely hit your mileage in June (and then some probably).
I'm sure your body does know what it needs. It's good that you listened to it.
I feel you on the not enough sleep emoticon. That was certainly one of my problems last night.
I think doing something for your emoticon is a fabulous way to honor your friend.
I totally believe that you will be up and ready to start June off right with a great emoticon
Yay for a great caller to dance to. I know how happy that makes you :-)
Wow!!! You got some emoticon deals on those shirts!! emoticon

PLEASE check your heart, ok? and a will!

Sunday, May 29, 2011

Okay... lots going on and nothing going on.

Recently I blogged a friend of mine passed away. Two times hit with breast cancer and two times hit with Adult Onset Leukemia, All this time we cheered her on, such a fighter.. you go Donna, you go girl!

Donna was 52. Donna has always been slender. She had been out of the hospital for 4 months since her last bout with Adult Onset Leukemia. She was doing great. Then she felt like crap. Flu like symptoms for THREE days and she died. emoticon

Donna died due to a cardio vascular disease. Her main 'tubes' were clogged. In all the YEARS she spent in the hospital with all the cancer tests, she never had a regular WELLNESS CHECKUP.

Please people... do NOT forget your wellness check ups, especially if you are in the hospital for something really scary like cancer. My lovely strong friend beat cancer 4 times only for something else that possibly could have been stopped got her instead.

And she had no will. This boggles my mind. With the 4 times she had to seek hospital attention for cancer, she would have done it. Like most people... she said she was going to and never did.

Being a survivor of any kind without a will... it's NOT as easy task. Do your will! It's not hard, it's not that expensive... get it notarized..have a file in a fire proof safe w/ the will... basically an if I die... here is what I have and what you need. Sorry to sound morbid... but this will make a huge difference to the person that is helping you when you are gone.

Going to try to get a run in tomorrow... depends on heat, etc.

Hope everyone is enjoying the long weekend and is thankful for the weekend!

Great advice. It is morbid but also make sure whoever is your executor knows where your papers are and what life insurance policies you have.

How unlucky can one person be?? Poor Donna that is just so tragic :((.
I always get a yearly checkup inspite of the onslaught of Doctors I continuously see. And they always check your heart pre op, so I even get lots extra lol. But I agree, everyone should have a will. I rent and don't have much of value, and my bank account isn't worth much, but it should all go to someone. I have it marked for my Mom, but as she gets on in years, its not a sure thing I will go before her in spite of all the health problems I have had..

My condolences on the loss of your friend. I have to second what you've said about the will. My sister-in-law Katy kept planning to go to the lawyer, to get hers done finally. It hadn't happened by the time we visited her, and we knew her time was running out.

We went through LegalZoom and drew up her will for a very reasonable amount. She got to state everything she wanted, how she wanted things valuable to her to be distributed to her daughters and husband, and got peace of mind.

Having said that, I need to do mine as well. Thanks for the reminder.

I am so sorry for the loss of your friend, and how sad that she fought against cancer, and then to die of something that could have been found during a routine check up. I need to go in for that. I was being testing to figure out why I have all these crazy symptoms and abnormal blood tests. I got so tired of being told I had everything from a to z, yet nothing could be done to help me, but to throw lots of serious meds and more tests at me. I had a bone marrow biopsy and went into resp. distress from too much lidocaine! Scary! I got sick of Drs., I stopped going! I guess I should go back to have a routine wellness check! I need to have my Mom get a will, I saw how much trouble she went through with her family. Hope you enjoyed your run, if you went!

I'm sorry about your friend ; She was winning the fight against the big monster only to perish due to preventable illness. emoticon Sometimes you can be diligent about wellness care only to find out that your lack of energy and appetite is due to your body fighting cancer for almost 14 years. my personal business is in order and am grateful for every sunrise and every sunset that comes to pass. Thank you for your post. May your week go well.

Mine should be easy to do: I have nothing but bills, so divide them 4 ways between my kids! I have no life insurance so they can divide that 4 ways too! (my stepkids are covered under my husband's will already, and protected, even if I outlive him!)

BUT I totally agree on the wellness checkups! Get them! And do your other 'checks' too: Pap smears, prostate checks, mammograms, colonoscopy, etc!

Not morbid at all. When my son was little, a law firm offered to do wills for free through my mom's church. We both had them done, just in case~!

The Hills are alive with the sounds...of my pounding footsteps....

Friday, May 27, 2011

boo lame title, two days in a row! emoticon

Okay. like it felt like no sleep. Strange thoughts again. What the heck is up with that? That is twice this week. grrrr I looked up 'racing thoughts' and am NOT going to say I have those, it's a mental anxiety disorder! ACK... and here I thought it was just how Lunesta advertised their sleeping aide!

So I was toying with not running cause I had no sleep, switched alarms... then felt but I HAVE to run... so switched alarms back, but did give myself an extra 1/2 hour.

I decided to mix things up a bit since I didn't have time for the full run. I reversed the hills. Wow.. what a difference!

I pretty much maintained a pace of 9:30 and when I started up the first hill, I started slowing down. I told myself, this direction, there is 3 hills to run up vs 6 and not to let the hills slow me down..

so I powered on and charged those hills! The slowed me some, but not nearly as much as they did the day before! Hills took about 10:30 pace where last Tuesday were 11:30-12:30. emoticonI'm getting stronger!!

So I am having a great day, emoticonis out, it's a Holiday weekend. Might go dancing tonight to one of our favorite callers, not 100% sure. If we don't, that's okay, cause I can use the sleep! tomorrow is a large day of moving heavy boxes for a few hours, then dinner and a play at the theater dharling.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!!!
