A bummer blog...

Monday, June 14, 2010

My horse has lamanitis again but this time it is worse. He has endotoxins that are being released from the lamanie and causing swelling up his left front at this time.

He is on bute and banamine (to control endotoxins). Hopefully we'll get this
under control soon and find out what is triggering it. Unfortunately it looks
like it might be an immune issue, and those are hard to find.

He was fine on Saturday... dead lame and falling down on Sunday :0(

For those that do not know what lamanitis is, the lamanie muscles (ligaments?) hold the coffin bone inside the hoof. They get irritated and swell and if not caught soon enough will progress to founder where they let go of the coffin bone causing it to move in the hoof. Very painful and very serious stuff. :0(

If anyone has any experience w/ immune issue caused lamanitis I would love to hear from you.

Bailey, so sad to hear that Biff is ailing again, hope that he will be out of pain and healthy soon. Sure hope they can find the cause of his problem as I remember that he had this b/4. Give Biff lots of TLC, he needs lots of love from Mom now.

I used to event, and my horse got road founder after escaping from his pasture the next day after an event and running up and down tthe road like a fruitcake.(You would have thought he would have been too tired.)anyways, he had to have his shoes pulled at first(It's excrutiatingly painful for horses to get founder.) When the shoer came back a week or two later, he put special pads and shoes with lifts on the back, almost like little high heels, and they really helped.I know how upsetting and frustrating it is to have you horse unsound. Hopefully everything will be resolved soon.

WOO HOO!! Happy Hump Day!!

Wednesday, June 09, 2010

AH.... today is a MUCH better day than the last two!

Period cramps have finally let loose as did the 2 #s of water weight / bloating that always plaques me the week and a half before each period.

Do I remember this when the scale jumps up the next day after a normal day? No, of course not. Then I fret for a week and wonder what the heck is going on. Then I just don't care and I realize it's bloating!

My bestest buddy emoticon Kathleen reminded me she had cortisone shots, not surgery on her Bursitis. emoticon this is a huge relief!!! Now I gotta get me some shots!

Hope everyone is having a emoticonday! Will be power walking later, the emoticonis out!

I hate that PMS weight gain!!! Good thing it comes off. I find it the toughest week for eating and exercise. Men have it so easy!!! LOL

Aw, bestest buddy - you're so sweet! Glad you're feeling better today! I also get the water gain, but mine is closer to 5 lbs, and all the other aggravating maladies associated with TOM. It SUCKS! On the bursitis issue - I had chronic bursitis that didn't respond to physical therapy and changing activity. The cortisone shots worked great for me, and I haven't had to have multiple shots, just one did the trick. Hope you find relief - have a great HumpDay!

No periods this summer!!!

Tuesday, June 08, 2010

emoticon
I have had enough.

I am tired of the girls getting super sensitive two weeks before my period.

I am tired of the insane cramps and foul mood.

I saw an ad for Seasinque and was intrigued. I did research and found nothing out of the ordinary from regular birth control pills so I bit the bullet and will start it next week.

This is the last period of Spring. Next period will be in September.. hah take that Aunt Flo!

And of course.. with Murphy's Law to take into consideration... I felt like crap the last two days. Cramping like mad, enough to wake me up from a dead sleep. Enough to signal 1/2 hour before 'do not take more than x hours apart' the drugs wear off...figures

On another note.. I guess this is going to be my RANT blog. I am really tired of my arm still hurting. It really started to just plain ache last Wednesday. My hat blew off on Sunday, to the left. Naturally, I turned to the left and reached w/ my left arm to grab it and practically fell on the ground w/ the wave of pain that overcame me. Bursitis bites!

I looked it up in the health articles from SP and it states:
Bursitis usually lasts for only days or weeks, but it can last months or years, especially if the cause, such as overuse, is not identified or changed.

hah! I wish it was just a few weeks. It's been since December! And it started to get better in May, then something caused it to flare back up. I do not know what is causing it. What could have caused it, I can still do w/o any pain at all. But reach quickly for a falling item, put my arm over my head, open a sliding glass door.. no can do.

I am going to go to another chiro to see if they can do anything different. If not, I am going to start looking into surgical options.

Oh.. and it's raining and I cannot get my power walk in. sigh.

Hope everyone is having a great day, unlike me! hee hee

I tried Seasonique last year, and it didn't work for me. About halfway through the first month, I started having breakthrough bleeding, which continued until I took the last week of pills to let myself have a period the week before we went to the beach for a week. That worked, and I didn't bleed the week we were at the beach, but the breakthrough bleeding returned and lasted for another 2 months. I gave up on Seasonique after four months and went back to a monthly pill. I hope it works for you.

I loved that BC the first year, but ended up stopping it. You may not get your monthly visit, but she liked to pop in for a daily visit pretty often. And the weight gain :( Hopefully you have better luck with it.

Oh boy I can relate on the period problems! My OBGYN suggested I have uterine ablation done, basically it burns off the lining of your uterus, no more periods. Of course, you're sterile after, but at 45 I don't care! Af far as your bursitis, I have it in my hips and shoulders. I have had cortisone shots for it, and that did the trick. Good luck with the Seasonique and finding relief for everything! Feeling like crap is...well, crappy!

I don't mind my period so much, especially since it's never been super crazy. I am, however, thankful that my preferred method of birth control, the NuvaRing, keeps mine consistent and fairly short. So many of my friends who find out I'm on it say they could never use it, and I used to be that way, but now I love it! Good luck with your new meds, I hope the crappy parts passes soon!

Busy busy busy

Monday, June 07, 2010

Been a while since I posted a blog, sorry! Been really busy lately!

I am still learning my iphone. ... love it!! so much fun!

The drag strip was amazing! It is so loud, you have to have ear plugs and the roar of 16,000 horse power charges thru the stands and literally rattles your body. Did lots of walking there!

Saturday night I had a Citrus Salad w/ Jamician Jerk Chicken from Claim Jumpers. I went in today to record it and OH MY GOD! One salad was 2520 calories! emoticon I had asked for the smaller portion and only ate half of it. But still! Must have been the raisins and pecans that bumped it up so high! I would have been better off w/ steak!

Hope everyone is doing emoticon

Ah, yes...the shockingly calorie-laden salad dilemma...been there, done that! I usually will choose steak or salmon now when we go to those places. Your drag races sounds like a fun night! Believe it or not, back in the day, I was a "trophy queen" for stock car races back in the midwest. I even have pictures to prove it emoticon, gosh that's been almost 30 years ago! emoticon Glad you like your new iphone - hope you got a good deal on it, since now they've launched the 4th generation and all the older ones are on sale! Figures, doesn't it? Have a great day!

Glad you liked the drag strip races. When I was living in northern Mn. we had a stock car race track in the town where I was working, loved to go there. Of course we also got many of the injured racers at the hospital I worked at too.
Yup, the eateries sure can add the calories and fats to what we inicently think is a meal that would be low on calories, carbs and fat---they hide a lot in salads.

CSIENK 6/7/2010 6:37PM

I agree. Those restaurants with their huge calorie-laden salads can be such trouble. You're right - more often we WOULD be better off with the steak!

Have a great week...

So.. you are happy that you choose the IPhone over the other ones you were debating with?

I have the Iphone with the AT&T package as well. LOVE IT!
It is a lot to get used to, but they have so many cute apps.
The last free one I got was when we visited the Walk of Stars in LA. My husband said to look for an app as a guide to finding specific people - they actually had two! So cool!
