Good Friday Sparkfam!! It's been a huge week for me. I forgot my big brother's bday & basically didn't want to do anything for Father's Day. Although my hubs is not my dad he still gets a kick out of gifts but my heart was with Trent. My brother was really upset about it. I will have to make it up to him probably with a visit to his home. lol

I haven't been keeping up with all my workout but hope to start a new tomorrow & hitt it hard!!'

How was this week for you? Did you eat healthy & get workouts in too?

You will get back on track. It was a great week for me, I just hope I can keep this up. I am trying to pace myself so that I don't burn out. My eating is getting better and for the most part I am staying on track.

Taking it one day at a time is how I keep my sanity!

Good Day Sparkfam!! It's been pretty warm here in Chicago but we are surviving. I know the pic above might be gross but this is my Sweet Little Trent. I found him on the ground outside of the mall in a nearby suburb. He was being fed upon by 6 thuggish ants! I mean seriously, he was being eaten alive by these black ants that were pushy & thought they could take me. A woman walked by & said the momma bird might come back & rescue the bird. I shewed the ants off the bird & went to do my shopping for Father's Day.

Well when I came back with my purchases in tow only to find the poor little thing was moving around to get the ants off of him. The bird above pictured is not my bird Trent but the pictures bares a strong resemblence to him though. Well, I had it! I shook the ants off & picked up the bird with an envelop that was in my purse. The ants still tried to get at me but I just stomped my foot. Apparently the ants in the suburbs are more gangsta than the ones in the city? Cause the black ants in the city move quickly in another direction if you stomp. Not these ants, they kept coming, like they were about to call back up. I was like do your thang as long as long as you back away from the bird.

I looked for the nest but couldn't see it. So I brought Trent home thinking that one of my neighbors would take him? She was terrified & didn't know how to help especially newborns? Me & oldest son took the bird home & got him into a tupperware bowl for him filled with paper towel. My daughter & youngest son came in not 20mins later. They were s in awe of the bird it was ridiculous! We got a lamp & looked for more details about the bird. He wouldn't eat but he pooped 3x so I think he had eaten.

We went to bed with the bird sleeping under the lamp & turned off the air too. Woke up this morning & my husband said something about the bird. I woke up & then ran downstairs, he was saying the bird was chirping with his mouth wide open to eat. He too the food in small quantities. He did alright but they said as long as I feed them when they wanted to eat. I then called the animal/wildlife rehab place for birds & they teld me where to take. My daughter wanted me to keep hm. Even my baby wanted me to keep him but it wasn't feasible & I thought his leg may have been broken. He was so cute even hairless he was beautiful!

I took him to the lakefront & found the place & dropped him off. I was saddened. I just wanted to take him home, I didn't know what to say. I haven't seen a robin in this area before. I did yesterday & my girlfriend says I am a hero. I don't thinks so? I was doing a small wonder but the people who help revive animals daily are the real heros! They have been in the renches & help the birs get healthy to fly away.

    Dee, you made me cry. You are so good. We rescue animals over here too. Last month my husband found a Rooster in Bunker Hill Woods. We did rescue , my neighbor raises chicken two doors down. So now we are awakend by Rory (named after my husband) the Rooster!!! There is a place on the south side that takes in birds for a fifty dollar donation and restores them back to health , rescued a couple of pigeons last summer. Hugs Karen

Good Friday Sparkfam!!



I got up this morning and got a good 30min step aerobics workout. I wasn't really scheduled for that I was supposed to do 30mins of Zumba. I just didn't feel like rearranging the whole house to do it. Its much easier to just do step aerobics and be done.

I need to be doing another hour of cardio after the Wednesday that I had. I ate so much food, no let me rephrase, I ate TOO MUCH JUNK FOOD!

I mean, I did well with fruits & veggies throughout the day but when I got home....Oh boy!! I had a fish filet, fries & sips of coke. Then I moved on to ice cream because my son didn't make it back in time with the food. Then I had some red vines & then I thought you are ruining it for yourself! This is on top of the breakfast lunch & snacks. I had to STOP!! I got up the next day & did Boot Camp. I only intended to do 30mins but after the 3000+ calories, I need to even it out. I also, deducted food for Thursday which was unnecessary & just monitored myself. I mean, I am making progress, soon I will be able to go out in my tank tops without a cover up.

So I can't officially say that I have given up junk food for life but I am going to TRY to watch what I eat. It is a daunting task but I am so worth it.

    Oh lady, I'm proud of you for taking care of yourself so well! And I'm envious of being ready for tank tops. Two of my sisters & I inherited our mom's really big upper arms--it's nearly impossible to get that part of my body slimmed down! But I'm happy for you, despite my envy, heehee.

I'm off to Boston tomorrow for a week-long writers' workshop! I hope you have a really lovely weekend & good work week after that. I'm still keeping an eye out for something fun to do with you soon!

Dragging......

Good Monday Sparkfam! This picture says it all about how felt after a long relaxing weekend but then I remember I needed to do cardio?!

So I jumped out of bed & made it up. Then put on my workout gear. Went downstairs made the Shadows bowl & threw out yesterday's water & gave him fresh water. I got myself 16oz of water & made my way upstairs to get with Cathe Rhythmic Step. I mean, I love Cathe but some times I wanna ring her neck for putting so many twirls & whirls in her step routines! It makes me dizzy. emoticon I did do 30mins & cooled down while I watched the rest of the dvd. I think I am going to go for the whole 60mins tonight?! I might not make it but I am going to try for it. I ate way too many slices of pound cake, cinnamon roll & ice cream servings to sit & relax once I get home. I need to kick my own butt. lol


Had my cup of coffee now ready to go & bust some more moves with Cathe tonight. She will not defeat me. lol

Even though the title says dragging, I am definitely not that draggy. I am going to make it because I am worthwhile. I enjoy cardio & feel so accomplished once I am done. If I don't make it the treadmill has me down for 1hour & 30mins this week. YIKES! I need to get some more music that helps LOADS!

So what are you doing for you today? Don't even say, sipping some ice tea or having ice cream out at Diary Queen! You had better be investing some time into your summer body. Are you dragging now? Or are you motivated to do something about what bothers you about your body?!! Then DO IT!!!

MUAH!!

    Having a rest day today after running my half marathon yesterday - those rest days always throw me for a loop! Not to mention office goodies today with out of towners in for the week. I am going to have to do better tomorrow!!! Work out in the a.m. and then actually eat the fruit that I packed! Sounds like you were much more disciplined than me! Great job!

    I sometimes feel pretty draggy but I really do try to get a good work out in anyway. I totally agree with you about new songs.. I downloaded some new songs to help me. I needed some new music to fuel me and I found some. My music favorites tend to change pretty frequently so I think it works out better for me to get new songs every once in a while. Sounds like maybe you are the same way?? I can't work out without it.

    Happy Monday Dee! You sound like you on a GREAT roll with Cathe! I never could get into her on Fit TV. I miss FitTV come to think of it emoticon. Always loved the belly dancing. And the lady who led the kickboxing. I used to know her by heart lol. And my drill sergeant buddy who is much older and still going strong with the accent. I used to watch him when I was in my late twenties. (Gilbaldo?) smh lol

Anyway I'm proud of you. I've done a little walking because it's TOO HOT to do a lot! emoticon So I have planned my lower body strength training and core work and some cardio dance from Core Rhythms. I've been hearing that music all weekend so I'm ready to trip my waste some more. emoticon Thanks for sharing sis and have a GREAT week!!!

No Excuses

At least not today......lol

Good Friday Sparkfam!

I am excited that it's Friday but more importantly that I woke up this morning! Now that is cause to celebrate. I got up put on my workout gear, made the bed, got some water & then I pressed play on my DVR. Did I want to workout? NOPE. I knew I had ate some things last night that I need to burn off & I did just that. You know I just going to do 30mins but it turned into 2hours. One hour of step aerobics, 30mins of weights & 30mins of kickboxing. Boy did I feel GREAT!!


I'm doing what is necessary cause I want to look summer ready. Are you? Well here's a little incentive:


So today say it with me, "NO MORE EXCUSES!" If you want it you gonna have to go after it a little bit.....

If he can so can we.....

    No excuses and No choice. I know what I should do but don't always do it. (more like usually! LOL ) Good thing i'm always running and playing tennis. Though it seems to turn out to be my excuse for eating some of this and some of that! I'm renewing my commitment to NO EXCUSES, NO CHOICE. I will lose the last 15! Let's get this thing going!!
