Sweet Potato.....

Tuesday, March 27, 2012

Good Afternoon Sparkfam!

These beauties have become a staple in my house these last few days & boy are they good! My hubby doesn't appreciate the taste but when you talking health they taste great to me! I guess on a carbs diet but my body & mind didn't tell me meaning I need some low carbs to snack on. Today I did eat fruit snacks, blueberry yogurt & an apple & that helped but when I get home tonight I am going to have to fight myself. YIKES!

Tonight I will be doing boot camp with Cathe & then walking for 45mins. I am tired but I will try to get off this computer & be done with it. I also have been reading the Twilight & Hunger Games books. I know I might seem a little bit old for that but a girl is never over watching a love story or reading one. These are pretty young for me but it still gives me a thrill. The killer part of this whole thing is? I hate being really romantic. I try but it all seems to planed or I always guess the surprise. I know I should play nice but the plots in Hunger Game books thrill me a little & surprise me too.

God bless Sparkfam!

Dee

Love Sweet Potatoes And I try To Eat Them Often. They only need a few sprinkles of cinnamon if you desire. Now I eat even more since they affect your blood sugar than white potatoes. They are Actually on the Low Glycemic list. And of course VERY Filling. Thanks for sharing Dee. You always have some good thoughts for us. Many Blessings!
Thanks for the goodies!

Sweet potatoes are the best and I got my husband to also eat them when I make fries and also put them on the grill or on stove top. Just wait and your husband may want to try them off your plate and when you let him he may like them so give some time.

I'm the only one in my family that likes Sweet Potatoes. Unless of course they have the marshmallows, etc. on them. Hunger Games Series isn't just for kids. I know alot of adults who are reading the series. I'm not interested though.

What A Beauty.....

Saturday, March 17, 2012

Good Saturday Sparkfam!! Its a beautiful day in Chicago & pray that you are all well & in high spirits. I have been to Target, the cleaners & Walmart & I am ready for a nap. I have been debating on doing a workout & then do take the nap. The day is about to get away from me but I don't want to be sluggish the whole day. My nephew wants to ride on his motor bike. I don't know if any of you know but a sister is afraid of those things! I have always been afraid of the rides at the amusement parks too. I am would like to camp out on a mountain if I were more outdoorsy type of person. I like to be inside when we have a bbq. I try to stay outside but its normally to hot or too many bugs. I know we all eat our fair share of bugs studies were released to that show that but I hope I'm sleeping when I do. lol What a beauty of a week it has been for us! I also praying for those in Michigan who were affected by the storms. It is very strange that one side of the street the sun is shining & the other its raining cats & dogs. Our Father knows what is best for us all.....

I pray you all have a wonderful weekend & please squeeze in a few minutes of fitness. Deny your flesh that huge chunk cake & get a smaller piece or share with your Honey.

God bless & enjoy EVERYDAY!

Dee,I have been a little slow getting around to reading blogs and etc. so am just now getting ready to answer and let different ones know that I am trying to keep up with them. Your day sounds productive and the blog on date night sounded like a lot of fun.
I live about 3 hours straight south of Chicago. Today I head up to Champaign to check back in with the surgeon.
Hasn't our weather been absolutely great?
God bless you

I'm reading this on Thursday so Happy Thursday to you! We had rain last weekend in Texas and it was cooler too. We have unexpected rain on today but I welcome it and Embrace God's Rain that He Rains down on us. He knows what we need and I am so grateful. That bread or cake look good. But I'm still doing good on the sweets. So happy and proud of myself. I can do this. Thanks for always sharing inspirational an encouraging posts all the time. You ARE A BLESSING! Keep those hackers in prayer. They tried to hack Spark on Wednesday but WE ARE MORE Because WE have GOD With us!
Blessings!

Yuck, bugs in the mouth . . . I grew up in the tropics, so in general I'm not too squeamish about bugs--but eating them, can't do that. My nephew, on the other hand, just posted on Facebook that he'd heard that Junebugs are pretty tasty; he says he's going to try them. Ugghhh!

Wasn't this day beautiful?! What a gift to us.

I had an amazing ripe mango for dessert tonight, instead of some chocolate. emoticon

Bless you, Dee!

Date Night Gone. . . .

Sunday, March 04, 2012

Not quite like the movie "Date Night" with all the twist & twirls but I must say, I almost felt like we were being naughty. Taking an entire evening going on real date with a movie, "Good Deeds" & dinner at the Capital Grille.

The movie was not what I expected but I must say I was laughing, tearing up, singing along & almost wanted to scream at the screen! I had a really nice couple that sat next to us that my hubby almost felt up. She got in between us & she sat down first & thought she was me. You know how dark the theater can be. I am just thankful she didn't smack him but he didn't touch anything but her arm. lol If you are in the mood for a sloppy love story then "Good Deeds" is your movie. We got to the restaurant a little late but they gave us a booth. He was impressed with the place but he thought the food was phenomenal! I was so glad & we both had such an outstanding time together. We have a few words but smoothed them over completely. But our weekend was a really great one & we can't stop talking about it. I mean, we don't get out to do a really extravagant date night. The movie $20 but the meal with tip for out wait staff came out to $183. But we have stayed in for so many weekends it adds up. I didn't have to cook today because we had so much food.

He had a rib eye steak lobster macaroni & cheese, asparagus with hollendaise sauce & oysters. I had roasted chicken (actual whole chicken cut in half) with a spinach with red onions & a bacon dressing. Which everything was really good except the salad. That bacon dressing wasn't good taste. The I had a few bites of the chicken & then a few slices of his steak, no mac&cheese for me or aparagus. YUK! I guess we are trying to figure out where to go next year for a romantic get away.

What did you do this weekend?

God bless & enjoy everyday!

Dee

Dee, my notifications have been going to spam for awhile--I just found out! I'm really glad your hubby & you had such a fun date night. So important to nurture your relationship with those special times.

And thanks SO much for the offer to do a Friend Date Night one of these days! I would really love that. Maybe in April sometime?

Control....

Sunday, February 26, 2012

Good Sunday Sparkfam! It's a beautiful day here in Chicago & got out to enjoy it a bit. Now I just got done cooking Sunday dinner. Baked chicken (yeah right like that's a surprise) mac& cheese, sweet potatoes, mustart greens, corn bread, turkey stuffing & chickne/beef enchiladas. What a meal! Now I need to control my emotions of thinking of when my mom used to cook these types of dinners for us. Although they were only served on special ocassions, I try to break them out every 3-4months for my family. The S-O-U-L food train & everybody has their own meal that brings them a few memories...

What are your trigger meals & how do you STAY in control of your emotions with every bite? lol I dive in with a forkful of this & spoonful of that with good intentions of stopping myself. Sometimes it works & well others its a BUST! lol HELP!!

God bless & have a wonderful week!

Wow Dee I need to come over! lol I love to cook those types of meal. My grandmother would cook meals like that and they were wonderful every time. She passed in 98 & Fri the 24th was her birthday and she would have been 90. I have to watch cooking like that since its just me and my son and he works at BK on Sundays and cooking cornbread and left alone with it is dangerous. L made a pot of whole grain pasta with homemade sauce & ground turkey and it lasted and more left so I didn't have to cook. I added green peas and a fancy tortilla. Healthier than the cornbread. lol I do love me some cornbread. If I do cook a Big meal and overdo, I just add a good workout. Thanks for sharing! Thanks for your comments and support! You are the best!
Have a Great Week!
Blessings
