Prom Pics . . .

Thursday, June 16, 2011

Good Thursday Sparkfam! It was raining earlier but the sun cleared those clouds up & its beautiful outside! Gorgeous day here in Chicago but chance for rain for the next few days. That's okay as long as its either early early in the morning or middle of the night. lol Hey the plants & trees are growing right?

Here are a few pics from my son's prom last Friday as promised:

Him standing alone. The ones that I like the BEST! lol

Him & his date sitting which shows off her beautiful face. . .

My son looking so handsome her in that dress, too provocative...

Thank you for viewing the pics & my how prom has changed since I went. . .

Today my workout was kickboxing & tae bo & Jillian Michaels. I could've done better on food as well. I did have a slice of bacon with breakfast a slice of pizza for lunch & a wedge of a donut. Well that's why the evening workout is necessary. lol

God bless & enjoy everyday!

The & his date standing by the car. It rained so he had to put the top up. . .

I like your son's taste in girls. lol I take my hat off to them. They looking quite "Red Carpet". That's a "bad" outfit she has on(Covered)lol & you have him decked out! That's beautiful. Congratulations on a job well done! Both are Beautiful! Girl they don't let the girls go to the prom in dresses like that in some of these cities here in TX. They send them home.

What a stunning couple! Did they have their outfits custom made? I noticed his vest and her cape matched. They look beautiful and so young and happy. Hope they made a memory to warm them when they're my age!

Wow, how fun that their clothes completely match! Your son looks WAY handsome, & his date really is pretty. I agree with you about the highly sexualized ways of dressing up that are encouraged for young people, especially girls--the message is not really healthy. But these two are very cool, & it had to be a night to remember! Thanks for posting the pics!

Lately it has finally felt like SPRING around here! Apparently it will get really hot again soon. Take care of yourself, my friend!

Prom 2011....

Saturday, June 11, 2011

Good Day Sparkfam! Its early here in Chicago & still overcast from the weather yesterday. My oldest son went on prom last night & it was cloudy & light misting. He wore a white suit with a blue & silver accents. I don't know if I could use such language with a man but hey since he is my son & its my blog Ima do how I do. lol He was so handsome & he wanted to borrow our benz but it was kinda uncomfortable & no air. I don't know about you but when I am dressed up I tend to get a little warm. So we had 2 options, ask our cousin who owns a cadillac CTS to borrow hers or ask a good friend to borrow his camaro. Now my son who is a car enthusiast LOVES the camaro. But I was apprehensive about asking to borrow it? So I told him lets just use the benz & that way we are responsible on our part. Well I did ask the friend & we got the camaro. The camaro was midnight blue with a drop top. I drove it home & I could not believe all the attention & drama I was getting. I felt like I was a young girl with many admirers again. lol So we drove it home & I parked it out front. He wasn't home but when he got back & saw the car you'd think he'd won the lottery!! He jumped around & hooped & hollered like we bought it for him? lol

So he got dressed & it took him an hour & a half. Mind you he had already taken a show, took a run downtown to find his prom location & pick the wings. I'll get to that later. . . . Well, I believe it doing it big for them cause part of it is for me. I love to do big directions & special little things for my loved ones. Some times even for unsuspecting strangers. So I got a few helium balloons & signs & flowers & cup cakes & more balloons. I got plastic cups & table clothes & little plastic wine glasses (I know not environmental sound) & macaroni & potato salad. I had my son order wings & then go pick them up. My family, friends & neighbors all came out to see him & he looks suave & debonair. lol He took the top down & went to pick her up & bring her back for more photos. Well we laughed talked & enjoyed each others company young & old. He came back & she was very pretty but as a parent I would not have co-signed on that dress. I mean it was blue with silver glitter thingys, she had 3 little diamonds cut in the front, it was a halt dress, came over her thighs & had a checkered blue & silver train. I guess this is all the rage in promdom now but I believe it the princess theory. They have another night to dress flashy I think it should be about sophistication & cinderella dresses. That's just me but I was censored & barred after the first dress incident. lol I got graduations for both my sons on Monday so the partying will never end. I will load photos another day but I am tired for now.

Today, once I am rested, I got walking to do, yoga with weights & cardio step aerobics. What are you guys up to today?

God bless & 2 down & 1 more child to go. . . .UGH!!!

You did it up right! It must have been SUCH fun to see the look on your son's face when he saw that Camaro. Way to make memories!

My day has been quiet & tedious here at home--I have mostly been assembling documents & numbers as part of my divorce process, ugh. So it's fun to picture you in a VERY different space.

Now that's what I call a good friend...I'm afraid with a car like that I'd be a bit possessive! Can't wait to see the pic's. My DIL's brother went to prom and asked his sister to drive them in her Caddie...she did, of course. The girl had a Spanish theme goin' on with black and red and HIGHHHHHH stilettos. My girlfriend and I didn't get asked to the prom and my dad took us out to dinner that night. I think he felt worse than we did!

congrats girl we both are celebrating. My son did not do the prom scene....he is different like and his father was in high school Low key. Not dating yet either. He is a late bloomer. He has plenty of time for that. He will be graduating with honors. We gonna hoop and holler and yell of course!!! He has worked so hard and steady! God is good. We celebrated by giving him 50.00 and took the family out to eat. Also our younger sons birth is Sunday ceremony day. So we celebrated his time too yesterday. The store he loves to go in gave him a small personal party with balloons etc. He was on cloud nine.

Enjoying Warmer Temperatures...

Wednesday, June 08, 2011

Good Hump Day Sparkfam! Its a beautiful but very hot & humid day here in Chicago. I am staying inside as much as possible to keep from getting a bad sun tan or overwhelmed. So I am combating this heat by eating lighter & healthier. So I ate a bowl of cereal, then a sandwich for lunch, I did have half a sweet role but I will have a cup of strawberries & a slice of watermelon for snacks. My dinner will be baked chicken with a salad. Will I eat ice cream or not? Its too hot to eat anything that will make me feel heavy. So its time to dance & enjoy this day. My son went on luncheon & I am having my porch painted since its in much need of some attention.

My workout today was tons of walking & doing some cardio for 45minutes. So how do you enjoy the warmer temps without falling out?? Remember to be safe, check on your older brothers & sisters & those who have illnesses as well.

Wish I were there. . . .

God bless & enjoy everyday!

Awesome that you still get out there. I have started taking a spray bottle out on my walks, filled with COLD water and spritz my face every once in a while to cool down!
I wish I could find the areosol bottles of mineral water I had years ago. Those were great for HOT days.

RUTHXG 6/9/2011 1:20PM

Finally cooled off--what a difference, isn't it?? Yesterday morning I went out for a long fast walk with my hydration backpack--I need SO much water on those hot days! Last night I was out on the back porch potting herbs & flowers, & as I was cleaning up the wind starting blowing fiercely. The weather was changing right before my eyes. By the time I was at my computer doing some wind-down things, there was lots of thunder & lightning. Crazy!

Sorry I've not been over to say hi much. I'm going through some hard stuff in relation to the divorce, & at the same time work demands are pretty overwhelming. But God is good. I hope you're thriving!

Good morning Dee! Hope your porch turns out great! We are going to get the house and garage painted but the guy is behind b/c of all the rain we had, so he should start within the next week or two! I stayed cool Weds by staying in with the air conditioner, it was too humid and miserable to be out. Keep up the great work girl! emoticon emoticon emoticon

The Good the Bad & the Better

Sunday, June 05, 2011

Good Sunday Sparkfam! What a beautiful day to be in the land of the living! Despite my aches & pains & the stress of two sons graduating from 8th & 12th grade, I thank the Lord I'm still alive!! WOOHOOO!! So yesterday I ate loads of junk food well what's loads to me: red vines, donut holes & Dots. I just sampled & sampled until I had a portion of all of them. So that was good but still bad.

Today, I am recovering, I ate my raisin bran with 1%milk, dannon blueberry yogurt, had 1serv of donut holes, orange juice & grapefruit juice. Dinner tonight will be salmon & baked chicken, corn on cob & sweet potatoes. Which is a lot better & healthier for me.

Today's workout is walking, jillian michael & push pull weight workout. What are you doing to be better today than yesterday?

God bless & enjoy everyday!

Happy Sunday sis! Yes I did say that prayer for your complete healing. But praying is an everyday thing for us. I have to stay motivated so I have to pray for my Motivators! Your dinner sounds yummy. Congratulations to your sons. I've been seeing Red Vines all over the place for $1. Tried to get my son to buy some instead of Twizzlers but he didn't think he would get the same taste. SMH. I didn't buy the grape that I really love. Trying to be Good! lol emoticon
Thanks for checking up on me. Get you some good rest. Enjoy the week!
Many Blessings and much love!

Ride or Satisfy the Crave. . .

Tuesday, May 31, 2011

Good Tuesday Sparkfam!! Its a beautiful but overcast day here in Chicago but I won't complain. Just last week, I had the heat on. . .Now its air conditioning I wish my house were more open & I could open the windows & allow the air to flow through. I don't like to ride in a car with air conditioning unless, its miserable outside. True. I take this warm weather & it melts the ice off my mustache in the winter. lol

So today, I wanted a vanilla frosty from Wendy's. So I went & got my small frosty & sm natural cut fries. I really enjoyed that & once I was done with that, I was full. I am still full right now. So my question to you is do you ride it out & drink water or do you satisfy the crave? Some times I just go without cause it will open up cans of worms I got no place to put em. So today, I was like you want that? Eat & be happy & guess what Sparkfam? I was happy! Even though food is not supposed to be eaten for satisfaction but out of necessity. Or is it?

Today, my workout was walking, playing with the day care kids (one whom locked me out! lol) & did 30mins of Total Body with Gilad. While I am at work I will do some body weight exercises to prepare for tonight I need to hit those abs & do some cardio. Tomorrow is National Run Day, are you going to run for 10seconds or 15minutes? I might get out there with my doggie Shadow & do the do early in the morning.

God bless & don't forget to stretch those muscles after you workout!

It sure was a warm one in Chicago today. Only took the small dog for a short walk, but I went back out for a longer walk myself. Usually a glass of Crystal Light and an apple will take care of the craving. But I also like an occasional 100 Cal Skinny Cow Truffle Bar. Yummy. !!!! :) But I do find myself grabbing a few cookies or chips once in awhile. But I put in some extra time walking or on the treadmill as punishment for slipping. LOL
