Two Words . . . . .

Jury Duty. . . .Good Wednesday Sparkfam! Today, I had jury duty. They always seem to get me. I have served twice & been accosted by the judicial system like every 2 years since I became legible for jury duty. I mean, I know our system is built on this but if only . . .they could provide coffee & snacks & then pay you more than the $17.20 especially when "I" had to drive over 40miles to get there. Then we had a 2 hour lunch break only to come back for an hour & a half to be told we could leave. Why couldn't we left when we had lunch? Well its over & I can go back to my life. Being a juror is such a huge responsibility. You have to listen & not zone out & be very alert. Some times I daydream when people are talking to me. Some time I daydream while I am texting or writing blogs so I normally have to delete what I have & start again. I start typing my random thoughts, kinda like now.

Today I did over 8000+ steps walking from parking lot to court house & back. Got lost going to lunch but I'm so used to the city & surrounding suburbs. Mcdonalds every 5 blocks not like where I was today I drove 10mins before running into one. Now its on to step aerobics burning almost 800 calories.

i get called for jury duty every year. my case was a person caught driving without a license and no registration on the vehicle. how could you take that case to a jury. da either you have a license or you don't. a pure waste of tax dollars.

Chase Away Monday Blues. . .

Happy Monday Sparkfam! It was a rainy & cold weekend so I just laid around. Went to church & pastor preached on forgiveness of yourself & do you believe you've been forgiven? Somewhat sorta how we are on Spark. We have a day where we indulge & then can't go on or forgive ourselves. Now we've been here long to know we have to stop ourselves for binge eating or stress related eating. We have to stop making excuses, “Excuses are monuments of nothingness. They build bridges to nowhere. Those who use these tools of incompetence, seldom become anything but nothing at all.” Author unknown I believe we know what we did & forgive yourself & onward & upward. Amen.

Then stopped by a super walmart & spent more than the $20 I had allotted for Shadow's dog food. I got a pineapple, mango, bananas & kiwi. I spent more but its worth it in the long run. Got home made grits, eggs, toast, sausage & then prepared chicken thighs. Can I just say that I cooked them for almost 2+hours & added turkey broth & butter & that it was so good, I had to eat a whole piece + some. I know its called being a pig but it was so moist & delicious I am actually thinking of it as I sit here. I had yogurt & a nature valley fruit bar for lunch. I did have a few chips but closed the bag because I am seeing results & want to continue & not self sabotage myself.

So this morning I did yoga as I still tired from watching the Bulls vs Heat last night & what a good game played by both teams!! I am proud of the Bulls as I hoped they would win I knew it had to be team work played last night. They played really well & LeBron & team played well too. Tonight I am planning on weights & tae bo to burn some fat & build some muscle.

Well, let's see, I have a doctor's appointment today, so I think I'll park a little further and also do some walking somewhere else too! Hey, maybe I'll go to Costco, I have some things to pick up and it's big enough to get some good walking in while pushing a heavy basket!

    My hubby and I were flipping back and forth between the Bulls game and Celebrity Apprentice last night...I kept asking to change it back to the game - love the energy D Rose and team are bringing to the court!

Got my workout in at lunch today: Group Active class at the gym (1/2 hour step, 1/2 strength training). Lunchtime workouts make me soooo hungry though - I'm drooling now thinking about your chicken thighs!

I Will Do Better. . . .

Good Thursday Sparkfam! Its really early here in Chicago about 5am & I have been up since 3am. Its warm & we didn't have the air on so, I was kinda miserable but its nice right now. I let the windows up to let the fresh air in & lit the candles. I love the quiet of the morning before the city start hustle & bustle or get stirred around.

Me & the hubby share a laptop so soon I will have to give it up so that he can do his Word study. I am going to push ups & lower boyd this morning. Then I am off to my girlfriends at 7:30am so I can help out with her day care. She pays me & I like being around the kids. Don't tell her but I would do it for nothing. But she always feels like she doesn't want to owe anybody. It rained pretty good last night & just a moment ago the thunder cracked so its gonna be a wet one.

So since I am up right now this will be me at work today:

So tonight I will try to do better. I will try to do some deep breathing & relaxing & turn the heat on if its at all possible. So what do you do to relax? I had some milk I didn't warm it though. I am really doing well on my fitness & I don't want to derail it with not getting enough rest. . .

I like to walk. That's how I relax or read the Word. Commune w/God. Sleep is Powerful. I have to get my 8 so that I can be more successful. Blessings to Your Day!

    Bubble baths are heavenly, I miss not having a tub. Also having a warm glass of milk helps too. Have a great day with taking care of the kiddies.

    I take a bubble bath and stretch to relax. I also listen to soft music or the ocean or some other mellow music. if that fails, I try reading a dense book like a technical manual.

Jumped Over the Hump. . . .

Good Hump Day Sparkfam! What a gorgeous day it is here in Chicago! I mean, I turned the heat off in my truck but its nice & warm in there. Its like 60degrees & the sun is shining. I need a car wash & wax well I need a good detail done on my truck. lol


Like the blue people above I am jumping. I am jumping over the hump slump I have been in since November. I mean, I moved around but nothing like I am now. I really lost that time to workout that I can not get back but there is no time like today. So I got up & did Cathe Supersets & did 30mins of her Rhythmic Step. She does too much twirling & I can't stand that. Did I tell you guys I get dizzy pretty easily? Well I am afraid of heights so I guess they some times go hand & hand. Oh I also get motion sickness. If I am in a car or on the bus & they stop & go too much, I have to throw up. Its just who I am. lol

Back to the blog though, I am feeling really hyped so I am going home to do a kickboxing session & I also got a date with Jillian. I missed my workouts yesterday because we went out to dinner. I didn't do bad but I ate my sweet potato fries & my sons fries & I had 2 of his ribs. I also bit off my insane chicken sandwich with bacon & onion rings. OUCH! I am not gonna let it get me stuck in another rut I am going to keep on moving.

I went back to very beginning of my joining Spark trying to infuse what I learned then with what I know now. I ate everything I didn't give up many of the foods I eat but I cut way back & I had a snack or two everyday. Here's a preview to what I ate one a day when I was heavier:

Breakfast:
1 pancake w/butter & heavy syrup
bacon
1 c. of raisin bran
1 c. whole milk
4-5 cookies - lol

Lunch:
2 slices of white bread
3 slices of turkey
3 slices of ham
Popsicle
Red Vines

Dinner:
Rice
Wendy's chili
Vanilla Frosty
Peanut butter cookies
Strawberries
Oil popped popcorn
grapes
strawberries

1921 calories

I was actually losing with this program! Can anybody tell me what's wrong with this meal? Well, the frosty & the pancakes & cookies for breakfast, how was I losing? Well, I had insane workout program & once I implemented this workout, I started to eat better. Now above shows how I gained the weight. Now I need to add more fresh fruits & veggies, lean meats & more water & I am on my way.

    On day of bad choices won't do any harm Dee, you work out like crazy and I am sure you will burn it off fast. Sound like the weather and your day rocked! it was raining here and very damp and cold weds, I think that is what lead to my bad food choices, and it is TOM so I was outta control! May Day Challenge. . .

Good Sunday Sparkfam! Its a breezy but mild day here in Chicago & I'm glad about it. Went to church & enjoyed the sermon on Forgiving Yourself, woohoo it was much needed. Cooked up some baked chicken, potatoes au gratin, green beans & salad, it was quite delicious.

So its the first 1st day of May and Summer is coming swiftly. Will you be tank top, shorts & even bath suit ready? Well I am joining the C5K virtual walk/run by the end of May. I am ready to join a different challenge every month to keep it fresh & keep my mind focused on the goal at hand, lose those last 19lbs. I am so geeked once again & I want to be held accountable not only to myself but to my Sparkfam as well. April was a different month but I tried to get my May Challenge of losing 10lbs 2 weeks ago. The month of April was full of life & full of sorrow as well. So my heart is heavy but I'm remaining prayerful & ready to be of service to those in need. Are you?

    Thanks Dee for the pep talk. Sorry that April was not all good but I know that your Faith in God pulled you through. He is Always Faithful to us and be there for us. I forgot I did that Virtual 5K and trained for it. That's a challenge! I'm in the Spring Challenge this month. I'm going to do more than I did last month in every area. We can do it sis!
