Good Thursday Sparkfam! Just thinking of a few ways to add years to my life & I know laughter definitely works! Let's laugh together!! WOOHOO!

HOW TO STAY YOUNG

1. Try everything twice.

On one woman's tombstone she said she wanted this epitaph:

"Tried everything twice. Loved it both times!"

2. Keep only cheerful friends.

The grouches pull you down.

(Keep this in mind if you are one of those grouches!)

3. Keep learning:

Learn more about the computer, crafts, gardening, whatever...

Never let the brain get idle. 'An idle mind is the devil's workshop.'

And the devil's name is Alzheimer's!

4. Enjoy the simple things.

5. Laugh often, long and loud.

Laugh until you gasp for breath.

And if you have a friend who makes you laugh,

spend lots and lots of time with HIM/HER.

6.. The tears happen:

Endure, grieve, and move on.

The only person who is with us our entire life, is ourselves.

LIVE while you are alive.

7. Surround yourself with what you love:

Whether it's family, pets, keepsakes, music, plants, hobbies, whatever..

Your home is your refuge.

8. Cherish your health:

If it is good, preserve it.

If it is unstable, improve it.

If it is beyond what you can improve, get help.

9. Don't take guilt trips..

Take a trip to the mall, even to the next county,

to a foreign country, but NOT to where the guilt is.

10. Tell the people you love that you love them, at every opportunity.

I love you, my special friend.

11. Forgive now those who made you cry. You might not get a second chance..


Remember! Lost time can never be found.

Be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

Wine does not make you FAT ....

it makes you LEAN ....

You really hit the nails on the head today. We have to let go and move on. Enjoy everything because the Lord has so much more than what you left behind. Because if we are always lookin back, we cant appreciate the view and blessings ahead.

Happy Monday. . . .

Good Monday Sparkfam! So its Monday & the time changed yesterday & man time flew by! I started cooking at 3pm yesterday & sat down & watched an episode of Chopped on the food channel & looked up again & it was 6pm! WOW! I mean I loved waking up to the sun but watching the day flash by was kinda devastating because it means Monday is here. I had my cup of coffee & had a small slice of meatlovers pizza & I'm done. I keep catching glimpsing of myself in mirrors & I'm kinda happy with my progress but see the room for improvements. I would like to continue slow but I also know I could kick it up a notch. . .So that's what I'm doing my upping the anty on my cardio workouts to 5hours a week. Meaning for 5-6 days my workouts will be 45-60mins. I mean, I need it & I have time, I have just gotten lazy. I have so many ah ha days coming up, my birthday, both of my sons luncheons & graduation & don't forget the family reunion! Family can really be hard on when you gain weight & don't look like what they perceived you to be. lol Let's not forget also that if I didn't workout I would be oh about 235lbs! Yeap its true, I loved to eat!

So I got up at 4:55am because I didn't want to be too late for work this morning. I watched Joyce Meyer & enjoy her show today on temptation. Lord knows I needed it! So then I got up & did 30mins of yoga, 30mins of Total Body w/Gilad & 30mins of step aerobics. I have been walking all day trying to get my steps up but I would love to do 30mins of kick boxing. I did enjoy a cup of my gourmet carmel vanilla keurig coffee & it was delicious with sugar & cream. That I haven't given up on. . . .I have a huge salad for later on this afternoon to ward off any mode of perceived starvation. My stomach plays tricks on my all the time trying to make me eat when I actually have no desire to eat at all.

Sparkfam I pray you guys are finding ways to be healthier. Even if it takes one bite at a time. . .Keep Japan in your prayers because our whole winter could not even measure up to what they are going through. Yes we've had a rough go of it but I couldn't even imagine their pain or anguish. They are asking people to donate, I will probably text $10 on my phone bill this month.

    Hello and a great blog. Yes Sunday went by so fast. I came over to the library and stayed longer than I wanted yesterday. Glad I had my outside walk/run completed. Today I'm taking it in and I came over here late. I'm getting some net at home real soon. I told my son I need it. I things to do. Plus working on books...I need it at home. lol

No...the Winter can't compare to this devastation in Japan. It was almost like a movie Dee. I can't listen to the sadness all the time. Reminds me of 9/11. That took a toll on my emotions. So...I pray every time I think about it and thank God for HIS Love and Mercy and I pray for those who are trapped to be found.

And...Don't worry about what others think including family. lol Ok...I'm older so I can say that. Although your wisdom is much older than mines. That's a good thing.

    Hey Dee! How is your weekend going? I had this blog opened up when I logged out from the library and I decided to hit you up. I'm doing good. Staying on track and real consistent these couple of weeks with the workouts and the walk/run. I can feel a difference in the pants that I wear. Thank God for changes! Good Day Sparkfam!! I was turning my desk calendar when it gave me a huge slap of reality! This was the quote: .....everyday we do one or two things: build health or produce disease in yourself. Adelle Davis

I sat up straighter & chose healthier & even drug myself out of the bed to get my fitness started & eat a healthy breakfast. Got my lunch together with a salad parked further away from the job & even finding reasons to get up & fidget. I believe its true in every aspect of the quote. I guess this isn't exactly a TGIF blog huh? Well, let's continue building health in ourselves & the lives of all those we touch daily. As you can see it sounds like I'm in a light & airy mood & you are right. The rain stopped & the sun is shining & its almost quittin time. WOOHOO!! How can I not find lightness in that?! This weekend I will also force myself to dust, clean the frig & wash loads of clothes. I will also treat myself to an early morning movie at the show just to say I did that. lol

What do you think health or disease in yourself today? I'm going with health sprinkled with disease. . . . .

    All for Health! With God We can do it!!! Great Motivation. It's the truth. I've been walking everywhere lately...even to the Grocery store and I'm glad to do it! God is so Good and Gracious!

Dee thanks for the goodie. I didn't cook Sunday either. I can't believe it! But I'll fix my son a Sunday dinner today. I forgot to get some tomatoes yesterday...unless I have some tomato soup. I'm making my own bbq sauce to put over some broiled chops and I expect them to be good. Going to cut them up smaller and cook a bang of veggies. Thanks for all you do! This site would not be anything special without you!

What's for Breakfast?

Good Day Sparkfam! Can you remember the breakfastsí from yester-years? You know you would have corn flakes, milk, orange juice & toast? I thought what did you have for breakfast today? I had a slice of toast w/butter & jelly, sm bowl of alphabits & 1%milk w/half scrambled egg. I felt so proud of myself because eating this way makes me full longer & I avoid the danish & donuts lying around the office. I actually did pretty well. If I say so myself but some times I could be off the chain too! I am learning to make me a huge pot of oatmeal & fed off that for a couple of days. Its been working for me too cause Iím not really into the pancakes these days. Did you know just one regular 4inch pancake w/butter & syrup can be like 260 calories! That was a huge eye opener for me. I did lay off them while, I havenít given them up completely but when I do make pancakes I make 2 miniís not that it makes a huge difference.

This morning I got up a small fire in my belly so I got up & did my All Star Workouts Pilates Sculpt. Pilates can be tough! I persevered & I won!! I didnít finish like I wanted too but not because I didnít have the time. Our office is being remodeled so I try to spark early so that I wonít be behind in the evening. I like to the do other things even though I love sparkin too.

So with breakfast getting more & more interesting these days, you could have a frittata or a scrambled egg enchilada. I mean breakfast could be a nutrition bar or fiber bar with a splash of variety of fruits or nuts. So whatís new & exciting on your breakfast menu?

    Love my pancakes but I can't have them everyday, I also like having some Oatmeal in the morning, I get the apple cinnamon .     YES THOSE pancakes and syrup are fattening. This morning I had old fashioned oatmeal, skim milk, mixed berries and smart balance. What I'd rather have is a big greasy sausage patty, biscuit, fried eggs and a big slab of bacon...but those days are long gone. I'd rather eat healthier. DID I say that?? LOL!

    I had plain yogurt with cocoa powder, whey protein powder, wheat germ, cinnamon, little bit of Grape Nuts cereal as topping and an orange... :)

I used to eat lots of pancakes in past...loved cinnamon rolls... IHOP breakfast stuff... no wonder I am here now... :D

    Today it was plain nonfat greek yogurt, with ground flaxseed, fresh raspberries and a little maple syrup and of course coffee.

To make pancakes healthier you can add ground flaxseed and use a whole wheat flour for part of the flour. You can also add berries, or apple and walnuts or banana and walnuts to the batter. I still love pancakes!

    I had 2/3 cup sunbelt granola cereal with fruits and nuts, i added an extra banana. 1 cup green tea and I also had a low fat vanilla yogurt and two glasses of water. Sounds like alot huh, what counts is the calories and the fact that I don't munch on junk food while eaiting for lunch.
