How Much?

Thursday, January 06, 2011

Good Day Sparkfam! Its a brisk but extremely sunny day here in Chicago & I'm in high spirits! Did I thank you guys for all your support & for helping me when I feel I need support too. You guys are the best cheer leading squad around!! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticonYEAH ME!! WOOHOO!

I woke up this morning feeling like someone slipped me a mickey. That means they drugged me somehow? So needless to say, I laid in bed until 9am & then got up to rush out to work without breakfast & bottle of milk & a hurried piece of grilled KFC chicken for lunch. I was got to work feeling sleepy and tired, I don't if I've told you guys but I am really fatigued lately. I also have been have an ache in my shoulder so I have self-diagnosed myself with walking pneumonia. Why? I had it when I was child and while I don't have a fever or cough, I'm tired & achy. Not achy or tired from working out either. I am making an appointment to have my doctor listen to my chest & see what goes with that. I have had a cough a mucus every other week but I don't have a cold or feel congested. Maybe I am being silly but I'll just have it checked out. lol

So I am at work going through my emails and decided to take the "real age" test. I will be 42 in April but my real age would be 38. Now if I could workout less, lose more weight, take a vitamin e supplement & eat more potassium & eat more fish or take a Omega 3 supplement that would probably take it down another 5 years. I sat here feeling good but wondering how much is my health worth to me? I mean, couldn't buy more fruits & veggies, buy more foods filled potassium, eat more fish? Then I went to Target got me some bananas & a bottle of bolthouse real juice & strawberries. I got a lettuce too. By the time I was done I had spent almost $40. Which isn't surprising to me at all. I should allot for fresh fruits and vegetables weekly for me & the family always.

I did walk today for 60mins & tonight after making steak & chicken tacos & chili. I will be doing Vinyasa Yoga for 60mins once I get everyone else taken care of.

So how much is your health worth to you?

You don't need a membership to a gym everything we could possibly need is available to us here on Sparkpeople the rest is inevitably up to us. . . .Remember to celebrate the small things everyday!

God bless Sparkfam!!

It does cost to get healthier but the end result pays for itself. Hope you are feeling better soon. The gym isn't for me. Too many men hitting on me. Could not workout for roving eyes all over me.

Girl I wish you lived near me. the fresh fruit and vegetable markets are amazing and cheap. You gotta have some by you. They are all owned by Greeks. The only one I know that is halfway close to you is Stanley's, on Elston & North Ave. or Ashland & North Ave.

But the gym is just the added bonus!! LOL! Loved the blog today. Yes, you definitly need to get checked out. My DHwas having the same type of symptoms. No pneumonia, but doc did give him an inhaler. Taking care of yourself is so worth it! Thanks for the reminder. Hope all goes well at the Doctor. Keep us informed.

I Craved & Caved. . . .

Wednesday, January 05, 2011

Good Day Sparkfam!! Its a brisk but sunny day here in Chicago so we bundled up. The sun almost fooled me but I wasn't going for that since it was freezing last night I put on my big coat & boots. So this morning I woke up late but I still got my 60mins of fitness in by doing Total Body Sculpt w/Gilad 30mins on FitTv. Then I put in the firm DVD Hi/Lo Step & Cardio 30mins. I walked at work today 30mins & I still have my 100 chair squats to work on. I guess I could be doing it now while I'm typing my blog huh? Maybe later. . . lol

Then last night I had a craving for chicken fried rice & so I went by my chinese spot & got that & sweet & sour chicken both small. So I get home & the kids are like we want some too. So I measured out enough for them & a taste for myself. The sodium is way too much for me now but it was still delicious! There was a corner left so went with my baked sweet potato & bowl of soup. Which I ate around 2pm since I was still full from my leftover oatmeal.

I don't always give in to what I crave but its been almost a year since I had it & it had veggies in it too. lol Anything to justify getting what I crave. I'm craving an 60min of Kickboxing DVD but we will see since I got to get dinner tonight. So what are you craving thats semi-healthy?

God bless Sparkfam!!

Don't forget to dance like nobody's watching & if they are ask them to join in. . . .

Hey Dee! That sounded great. My craving was Oatmeal Raisin cookies last night and I made some and ATE a WHOLE bunch! emoticon

I jumped on that mini tramp as I ate them and kept moving around. I also got up this morning and strength trained. I hate when I go at it like that with food. Keep praying for me. lol I need it. But I'm good. God Bless you and thanks so much for the goodie and complimenting my pretty lil cuzn. She is so precious! Enjoy Thursday!!!

I crave the bad stuff too. Sometimes I just cave. It's much tougher in the winter when you spend so much more time indoors.

I know what you mean about those cravings. Last night instead of grabbing a strawberry fruit bar, I grabbed a shortbread cookie instead. I couldn't take it anymore. LOL Needless to say, I'm down another pound and super excited and happy about it. It's ok to give in sometimes. At least next time you won't overdo it.

How Is It Going?

Tuesday, January 04, 2011

Hey Sparkfam! Its the 4th day of January I just wanted to ask you how is it going? I don't know why but after Thanksgiving I haven't worked out as hard as normally do. So now what? As I try to get back to my level of commitment which is roughly 1hours of walking 1hour of various fitness dvds. Where I am today, well I did do 30mins of walking, 30mins of Total Body Sculpt, 30mins of Zumba & looking forward to Pilates Sculpt tonight. Now if I get 30mins that's really nice but if I could do the whole 60mins WOOHOO! lol

I don't count it as depressing that I am not staying on fruits & veggies & lean meats only. I find that I am not eating 2 big mac or 1 double quarter pounder with cheese & a large fry & soda. No quite the opposite I ate a bowl of oatmeal with 1 slice of honey wheat toast w/2%milk. For lunch I had a baked potato w/butter & a cup of low sodium soup. However that's where it gets crazy, I took a vitamin & if I am not completely full then I will get light headed sluggish & queasy. So I had to eat a bag of chips & a bag of raisinets. So tonight's dinner will be pb&j on honey wheat broccoli brown rice & milk. I might have a small piece of jerk chicken to fill any voids from being hungry. When you workout for 2hours or more you should be putting away close to the high end of your caloric range until your can trick your tummy to eat less. lol I also had red vines, I wanted some but it was cold I didn't want to go to the store & the hubby feeling guilty for an argument he started bought me a few packs. So you know what that means, I will have bring my A game.

How is your water & sleep going as well? I've had 6 cups so far & working toward my 8cups my sleep last night was treacherous cause I the heat was up way to high & I prefer to sleep comfortably at 74 degrees & loads of cover. My hubby loves to keep it on 82degrees. I was burning more calories in my sleep than I possibly wanted to. So I had to get up & turn off tvs, turn down the heat & then BAM, I'm up. So tonight I should be good & tired & get plenty of rest.

God bless & enjoy everyday!!

Dee

You are still rocing it girl, don't beat yourself up. It's very normal to not feel like working out in the winter. We just have to remind ourselves why we are doing this. To me a great reminder is having all my friends from school (popular girls) tell me I look great after I posted a picture up on FB. That makes me want to stay on track and make it happen. I still have to work on drinking more water though, lol. Keep up the awesome work Dee! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Isn't it funny how hubbies will bring the very worst thing to you. Instead of delicious grapes or strawberries. emoticon Be careful. When I take vitamins without eating I get sick on the stomach. Metformin diabetic meds I have to eat before or else. I just know you will get your mojo going again. emoticon

I got tired reading of your workouts. emoticon! Take things one healthy meal, one exercise, one positive day at a time. Aim for a one pound loss then when you lose it, be proud and work toward one more pound. Small success build confidence and are easier to envision than a huge amount of pounds to lose. Keep up the good effort. emoticon -- Lou

Happy New Year's Sparkfam!

Friday, December 31, 2010

Happy New Year's Eve Sparkfam! Its been a glorious year & I want thank you all for your support! Its been a wonderful day that I have spent with my family & in prayer & filled with fabulous food. We had a rack of lamb, lobster tail, jerk chicken, tbone steak & baked salmon. The sides were chicken & broccoli stir fry & chicken & green bean stir fry, baked sweet & baked potatoes, a garden salad, garlic cheese toast, caramel & strawberry shortcake cakes.

My family spared no expense with the compliments and I must say the meal was better than I expected. The lamb was tender and had its own unique taste. I really liked it alot. Well I kissed each & everyone of them & we had prayer & we will light candles tonight. Have you made your resolutions yet? I don't make any myself but together we can keep them. . . .

Gettin Back Into the Habit

Tuesday, December 28, 2010

Happy Tuesday Sparkfam!! I am sitting here on bed not working out but sparking. I need to get busy doing my workout. But first things first, I need to go the Post Office & mail some bills. I don't know what is going on with mailing my bills but its not taking anywhere from 8-15 days before they get it. Now mind you I used mail a bill today & it would hit my bank by Thursday. So its a win/lose situation. Meaning my pay check will get there on Friday & if the post it tomorrow it may be a insufficient funds fee. I used to get them all the time but now I am working in overdrive to prevent them. I am doing well.

So I have fallen out of the habit of working out like I use to. I need to get back into the habit again. It won't take anything but except for me to get up & just do it. I know I love to workout so it won't be too hard for me.

New Year's resolution is the same as always to build this person that is me everyday. What is your resolution to you?

God bless & enjoy everyday!

Dee
