Happy Sunday . . .

Sunday, December 05, 2010

Happy Sunday Sparkfam!! Its been a nice weekend except for the snow & chilly weather. Its cold here in Chicago! I know we all are experiencing some dips in temperatures but it is December & we should be ready right?! Wrong! I'm not but I accept it & I am moving on . . .

We ended up going to Friday's last night at 9pm because he was too tired on Friday. So of course it snowed yesterday & the temperatures dipped & all was frozen & cold. We got there & I kept nudging my 17yr old to get the waitress to get them to sing the happy birthday song. Well it was hopeless then we looked up & saw my family was at the restaurant to so my sons went to visit them. I went to the restroom for 2 minutes & guess what? They came & didn't let them sing the song he just got the ice cream. I was too mad! I wanted him to be surprised & shocked! lol

So wasn't feeling well today so I have been home all day. Seasoned some chicken & baked it quickly. So I am still in bed.

God bless Sparkfam! Let's enjoy this week!

Dee

Stay well girl this season for chilly winds is here. We have no snow yet and I am happy I am not a snow fan. When it does snow here it is a treat for the kids. Cause snow is rare here. Humm restuarant folks not singing. Well I can bet that I remember one birthday. He hubbie tricked me and had the resturant folks sing happy birthday to me. I could have crawled under the table. The lady who knew me and my face was red and I am a lady of color. I vowed I would get my hubbie back. stay well this season

Keep Warm . . .

Friday, December 03, 2010

Good Friday Sparkfam! Its a brisk day here in Chicago & I need to warm my baby (ford expedition) she's really special to us. So I try to treat her with care as I have had her for 10years I would like to keep her another 2years God willing & the creek don't rise. lol She has a tune up appointment in the a.m. so let's pray for 3inches of snow or less.

So you heard me talking about snow earlier right? Well here in Chicago we are supposed to get like 4-8inches of snow so I went to Target (they are SO high) but I need milk & eggs for breakfast in the morning & fresh bread. So we just need to get some dog food & salt for the stars & concrete. Try to stay warm:

Tonight I will be dancing & then we are going to dinner to celebrate my hubby's b'day. It should be fun & I will try not to fall asleep but he wants to get out & just have a small celebration thank goodness!

So what are your plans for tonight? Anything fun?

God bless & enjoy everyday!

Dee

Well happy day! Tell your husband I send him a belated birthday. Hope it was a wonderful time for you all. Did it snow? It's great living in a state like Texas now that snow is not something to look for in the winter. I'm from Oklahoma and you know how that weather is. Lots of it and plenty of it. But it's still cold here in Texas. In the 40's and I'm walking out in it! lol. Many Blessings for your new week. How did the truck come out?
Blessings!!!

Happy Hump Day . . .

Thursday, December 02, 2010

Happy December 1st Sparkfam!! Its a VERY brisk Wednesday here in Chicago & I was bundled up but did I miss those buttons that happened to fall off my dress coat today! Let me tell you I wore an under jacket & long sleeve shirt & the heat in the truck was slow to warm. BRRRRRRR is all I can say. So its my hubby's 42nd b'day & I woke up & told him "Happy Birthday!" Guess what? He was so busy getting ready for work that he almost forgot but heaven help us if we had not called him later in the morning to express our glee over his birth.

My daughter got me a nice card for him & I got him a Jack Lalane juicer which is on its way & the kids got him a funny b'day card & a black insulated hoodie from A.J. Wright. The hoodie is all the rage these days but the juicer is for his health. He has wanted one of those & the PX90 for the longest. Maybe PX90 for us both on Christmas or the Rosetta Stone are possibilities? So I did loads of walking getting him a double chocolate cake from Portillo's. They are all over but if you have one near you, you have got to get one of those to take to the party with a gallon of milk. I know the recipe but its so much easier to pick up the cake at the store done.

I've been helping my daughter who has a class in the evening Monday & Wednesday after work by keeping my grandson overnight. It helps her get some rest & do her homework. I don't normally keep him for nights as I am a firm believer in you have to raise your own child/children so you blame yourself for all their mistakes. lol But no, I love keeping him but he likes to stay up til 11pm & I like to be in bed by 10pm. I hope I'm getting Juicy Couture for Christmas or MoMo (what Israel calls me) gone feel unappreciated.

I have been so busy with him that I almost forgot that today is also the 13th anniversary that my mom has been gone. She was such a strong tower in my life & she prayed a righteous prayer all the time. She is my she-ro FOREVER! She raised us all to be decent christians no matter which way we went & she did it as a divorcee. I sent my family a very nice but sad text but I was glad to remind them of today. I also added my aunts 2 cousins but forgot my uncle. He was so cool! I miss him too. It was tough but we had so many great times I pray my own children we will remember the times.

So its hump day & I didn't dance but boy oh boy did I HUMP!!

So I am dancing now for the beautiful people & things in life. I pray you are too!!

God bless & I pray you dance. . . . .

I m no baker but being he is a gospel radio dj and has many (female and male fans) he always gets his cake. I'll have to pray hard this time. Happy anniversary and happy b day to your hubbie. emoticon emoticon emoticon

There's A Rumbling. . . .

Sunday, November 28, 2010

in my tummy. Please excuse me Sparkfam! Thanksgiving leftovers still in the frig. I am actually not bothered by them at all today but Friday, I sat in the kitchen all day. lol So my tummy is hungry but I want to make a decide what I will eat today before I open it up. Well turkey breast would be the best choice, the greens, a couple of forks of stuffing & a slither of sweet potato pie. So I wish I has some soup cause I am so lazy I don't even want to chew. Today I had a wonderful time in church still chewing on the word. It was meaty, the pastor spoke on being victorious during times of fear, doubt, shame & indecision. If we speak the word it gives life & we can WIN!! WOOHOO!!

So what are you guys chewing on tonight?

God bless Sparkfam!!!

I haven't decided what to chew on today. Is that a bad thing? LOL I haven't been planning out my meals lately....argghhhh all I think about lately is how I can make the workday go more smoothly. But i guess it would go a bit easier if I put good things in my body and let it oxygenate through walking/jumping/dancing!!! emoticon

Mind Over Matter. . .

Friday, November 26, 2010

So Good Day Sparkfam! Its a sunny but brisk day here in Chicago & no Black Friday for the kid, I stayed in & cooked a decent size breakfast. Now its back to reality after having to cook p a storm for the last 3days but I actually didn't feel rushed like I normally do. That's why I started early like my mom used to do. She baked cakes & pies all weekend. Then do stuffing, yamilo, greens & potato salad. I would prepared the ham Wednesday night & the turkey would bake Thursday morning. So I have been cookin since Tuesday baking pies, stuffing & then did greens & more yams on Wednesday. I baked the ham, chicken thighs & made the macaroni & cheese Thursday morning while hubby deep fried the turkey. I wanted to eat around 3pm but I ended up making pancakes & bacon for breakfast. We were starving but I wanted to wait until dinner time but no dice. So we ate at 5pm. Then we laid around & then around 7pm got ready to go to my daughter. We got in my car first but it was sounding so bad we turned around & drove my hubby's car. We almost didn't go but I know she was feeling melancholy today & wanted to cheer her up. So she was so happy to have us she made plates for us. UGH!! I had a good size plate & was feeling really decent by the time I got to her place but how could I disappoint my baby. So I woman up & ate the plate, it was definitely mind over matter. So we left around 11pm when most people were doing their clean up we were still visiting. lol But my boys can eat a ton of food they have a high metabolism not like this old broad. lol I still got a turkey bump going on from stuffing cake & sweet potato pie. I need some Red Vines to get me away from all of this senseless eating. I need some sweets & BAD!!!! S.O.S.

So what do you eat yesterday or today that it was a mind of matter situation?!!

God bless & TGIF!!

Dee

There were 9 of us ,including a family friend,
We ate before 5 pm.Our friend helped with the turkey,he put bacon around
the turkey so the turkey would taste moist, not dry.Came out delicious!
We had mashed potatoes and gravy and there was corn on the cob that had to be used up!
I made yams with brown sugar and marshmallows, turns out I was the only one
eating it!My daughter made her green bean casserole!**Yummy**Plus, there was 2 different kinds of stuffing too. There were rolls and pies and ice cream!**We got stuffed!**
And we sat around the table and prayed and also said what we were thankful for.

I did good. I did have bigger portion for lunch but mostly had vegetables on my plate and white meat skinless chicken. It was so hard to eat only one piece of that sweet potato gooey butter cake but oh well. I'm still alive and didn't gain a pound from what I ate. It's good I didn't cook sweet potato pie. I was still in a birthday celebration mode but this is the Season that I love and I really appreciate EVERYTHING that Jesus did for us on that Cross! Thank You Jesus! You are a great mother and I know your food is always the bomb!! So I guess my son has a high metabolism too. Skinny self! lol
Have a great Sunday!!!

Hi Dee... sounds like you had a nice day... my son and I spent it together. I cooked 2 Cornish hens, sweet potatoes/apples & pecans, dressing & string bean casserole (...the recipe on the soup can) & garlic bread (homemade) for dessert we had sugar-free chocolate pudding/whipped cream... I didn't count any calories, I just tried to exercise portion control. Starting my program again this evening w/exercise!

Have a wonderful weekend!... ~ Dee emoticon

Great story, Dee!!! Happy holidays sweetie. How blessed we are. I had a lovely holiday too, having my loved ones over here. A pretty small celebration, only 10 people, lots of help so it worked out great. My niece lives far away; she was able to make it with her kids and new beau.
