Dancing . . . .

Wednesday, November 24, 2010

Good Day Sparkpeople!! Its Wednesday Hump Day & its actually time for me to go home. We have an early due to the holiday. WOOHOO!! So I am done with my 3 sweet potato pies, turkey stuffing last night & then this morning, I got up & did my turnip/mustard greens & candied yams. I know its overkill on the sweet potatoe but I have to do both for my sons & other guest. Now I got to run to the store for a few last items bell peppers, 1%milk, cheese for my macaroni cheese. I am doing mac & cheese, ham & baked chicken when I get home.

So I did Gilad this morning & Zumba I am feeling really good. . . I can even go home & workout where normally I was too pooped to pop!! Now I am going to pop!! WOOHOO!! Dr Ian says that its okay to eat destructively on Thanksgiving but just don't continue it. How do you feel about that?

Are you dancing today in thanksgiving & praise for all that God has done for you? Or what you are thankful & grateful for?

God bless & happy pre-Thanksgiving!!

I love cooking! If you would like to share your recipes for greens, and sweet potato pie, that would be awesome.

The cool thing about Thanksgiving is that everything is so traditional. One thing that has become tradition in our family is my broccoli, tomato and cheese dish.

Broccoli, Tomato and Cheese

Cut up fresh broccoli into small florets.
Steam broccoli until barely tender, 3 minutes.
Butter or olive oil a 9 x 12 glass pan.
Lay broccoli florets out in the pan.
Sprinkle a can of drained diced tomatoes over the broccoli.
Dot with butter.
Generously sprinkle shredded mozzarella and shredded cheddar cheese on top.
Mix some bread crumbs with olive oil and salt.
Sprinkle bread crumbs on top.
Bake 30 - 45 minutes until browned on top.

p.s. Gorgeous picture of you!!
p.p.s. I LOVE Zumba!

Enjoy!! I get to leave early, too. Soon, soon I will walk out the door and finish up my shopping for tomorrow's festivities.

I'm torn on Dr. Ian's comment - as long as you are staying healthy most of the time, splurging on one day is not going to be a problem. But...most of us didn't get here by staying healthy most of the time and splurging on just one day.
But I think it's something we must all learn to do. And what better time to start learning a new skill than now?

Happy Thanksgiving!!
(Oh, and I'm thankful to have a site like this to use for free and find great new friends that help keep me focused.) Go Spark!!

Happy Monday . . . .

Happy Monday Sparkfam!! What a wet day its been here in Chicago & now a tornado warning is in effect until around 8pm. I pray that we are spared. Especially since its supposed to get colder tomorrow. . . .

Anyho. . . I would like to send a birthday shout out to Cierpoet "Deb" & pray she has an wonderful birthday week!!! Today, I will do abs & step aerobics & cook something so I am not feel bombarded by Thursday morning. Certain foods I like cooking on Thanksgiving like the baked chicken quarters, ham & macaroni & cheese. I just like that stuff done early morning. This year we will get out & visit family. I will try to be polite & have a soda or something. I rarely eat when I go out for fear of eating too much. I know its offensive but I will try to take a small plate to be polite. Tinsy. . . .lol

This is motto for Thanksgiving cooking, dining & treats. . . Is it in you?!

God bless & enjoy everyday!

Hopefully that tornado holds off. Our weather here in Maine has been yucky too. Hold to your convictions. Have a nice holiday.

Frankly, I'm glad it's rain and not snow. Lived in the Chicago area all my life, and love it...but the snow makes me want to find a warmer climate.

What's Eating You?

Saturday, November 20, 2010

Good Day Sparkfam! With the holidays upon us we still need to eat whatever we want in smaller portions. I have practicing this method just to see if it helps me & it does. Well as long as its not red vines & Keebler fudge stripe cookies. I do alright with the rest. I am armed with my sugarless gum & ready to take action. My pledge: I will not live to eat, I will eat to live & in moderation. I say this but I haven't bought my carmel cake yet. UGH!! We have to have a cake & I am not a BIG baker.

So what won't you turn down on Thanksgiving?
Me, ham, stuffing, deep fried turkey, sweet potato pie, dinner rolls & carmel cake. Very small portions as I am the cook. Make sure you guys kiss the cook & bless her/him for their contribution to making this a blessed day!

God bless & keep you all!

Happy Friday. . .

Friday, November 19, 2010

So its finally Friday! I couldn't wait until 6pm so I left at 1:15pm today. I felt really good but then I picked up my grandson & we went to McDonalds. He didn't want to take a nap so we actually watched Tom & Jerry his favs. lol I am actually washing a few loads of bedding cause I wanna lie on fresh sheets. I will probably order a movie & chill out since tomorrow it gone be on & poppin! I am going grocery shopping & then I will need to clean up around here. I will be cooking 5 pies tomorrow evening, one for my brother, 2 for my co worker & 2 will be for the house. I will see if I can cook something everyday so I won't be bombarded with cooking on Wednesday & Thursday. I will be feeding others on Wednesday & I am hoping to have my hubby cooked the turkey on Wednesday so that we won't have to wait for him to cook it on Thursday. So I am not worried about all the food I am cooking as far as concerned I will be too tired to eat. I will have plenty of water on hand to help me combat the urges to have carmel cake. I will see if I can pan the other half to my brother? lol

So what are you gonna try at Thanksgiving dinner you don't normally eat?

God bless Sparkfam!

Happy Wednesday . . .

Wednesday, November 17, 2010

Hi Sparkfam!! Happy Wednesday, its time to dance over the hump!! I love Dance & Be Fit & tonight I'm gonna do one of her workouts. You can catch some of it on if you want to look it up but she is a very dancy type woman. I guess so am I.

This morning, I fought to let the bed go & get up & do 40mins of All Star Workouts w/Patrick Goudeau & I did it!! I'm so proud of myself cause all I wanted to do was lay back down. So tonight its 30mins of dancing & 30mins of weights with Cathe. Bible study is tonight & then its time for bed after I catch up with the hubby & kids.

What is your Wednesday like??

God bless & take care!
