Hey Sparkfam! Getting off work early today & just going to run some errands so I can sleep late tomorrow & then go to my niece's party. Once that's over what can I do? Walk downtown with hubby on Michigan Ave & just enjoy the sights of the city or dinner & a movie? What are you guys doing for fun over this indian summer weekend?

    Lovely that you have some schedule space to fill with something fun for you & the hubby!

I'm going out to eat with some neighbors tonight--we decided we need to get to know each other better, which I think is very cool. We can walk to a great little Persian restaurant in our neighborhood--it's one of my favorites.

Tomorrow morning I'm doing a presentation to fellow editors out in the burbs (I'm being paid for it, so that's cool!), & afterward I'll have lunch with my sister, taking advantage of being in her neck of the woods. Once I get home I'll get back to working hard on a freelance project for a few hours. I have a Japanese film to watch in the evening, Departures--it looks really good.

On Sunday, church & a bit of tidying up at home, then I hope to take a long walk in this gorgeous weather!

Meet Steve Ross, this guys is WONDERFUL!! This is his bio:
Ross was certified as a yoga instructor in 1980, but didn't begin teaching immediately. Eventually, he took up residence at Yoga Works. During his tenure there, he was still a working musician and last toured in 1993, after which he set aside his guitar (Well, not completely; he's presently recording a "non-traditional" chanting CD) and rolled out his yoga mat. He's now been teaching for 20 years and opened Maha Yoga four years ago.

Today I did catch up, I did Upper Body & Legs & Glutes w/ Cathe. Then I wrapped it up with Tommy D All Star Workouts Kickboxing & then did 60mins of Inhale with Steve Ross. He plays old school Steve Wonder, Stomp by Kirk Franklin & the family, he plays traditional Indian music & makes you move & groove while you are holding yoga poses. I mean, hold them down those yoga poses I was sweatin more than when I was doing the upper body. He makes you hold them & breathe into the poses & its like I'm taking an actual class. I DVR a copy of this program when it was on Oprah's channel Oxygen. Its no longer on & its so sad cause my muscles remember poses & I got deeper & deeper with each inhale/exhale. So I after I post this blog I'm off to bed. Its been one today & its been a blessings. I didn't get to play outside like I wanted but I will definitely try to get my walk on with Shadow in the a.m.

Nearly . . . .

Its been a beautiful Monday here in Chicago. I mean blue skies & 64 degrees about 72 in the sun. Its a chilly 54degrees in my office so the open toe shoes & drinking cold water is giving me chill bumps. YIKES! Speaking of which, I inhaled water today. No I wasn't swimming, I was standing up about to take a swig of water & the water splashed up & went in my nose. You wanna talk about hurt, I mean it didn't last longer than 10minutes. BUT I had burning pain in my nose & my nasal passage was feeling quite sore & I felt light headed. I guess this is as close to near drowning as I'm gone get cause I don't believe in putting my head underwater under NO circumstances.

Yes, I love beautiful beaches with white sand but I just like to observe not play. Its that weird. Anyho, I cooked up a storm yesterday. I had meatloaf, baked salmon, baked chicken, broiled crab legs, bertolli's tuscan braised beef & potato (microwave of course), sweet potato pie, & yellow corn. I mean, my husband couldn't eat it all & I just gave them all a taste. He just kept asking me why did I cook all this? It truly didn't go together but I was cleaning out my freezer & frig for the holidays. Got to make room for that turkey & ham. YUMMY!!

So got up early this morning, I jumped right into my workout clothes & got instep with Gilad Total Body Sculpt, Dance & Be Fit, watched Joyce Meyer to keep that glory flowing, did Sharon Mann Kickboxing & Tai Chi & then did Namaste Yoga all from FitTv. It felt great to get most of my workout done. I did some shopping with my son (who came to work with me) to get my steps up & just to get out & enjoy this glorious day!

I was nearly good today in my eating. My breakfast, scrambled egg, blueberry yogurt, toast & caramel delight coffee. Snack a hostess twinkie, lunch homemade chili, keebler crackers & strawberry yogurt. I did have some Werthers Caramel Hardcandy. They are light & so good!! I have to admit, yesterday I had a caramel affy tapple. Its a caramel dipped apple, the apple was so fresh & the caramel was PERFECT!! This is the only time of year I indulged & it was soooo good.

So tonight, its abs & stretch & just some relaxing & reading the word.

What are you doing for you today for your health? After all this is the main reason we Spark.

    Wow, what an amazing amount of cooking you did--& everything sounds great. And you put a lot of variety into your morning workout--wow!

It's no longer Monday, but I can report that I have gotten up for morning exercise every weekday thus far--mostly fast walking in the neighborhood, because our weather IS so beautiful these days! emoticon

    I'm glad you are having such a WONDERFUL day today and the weather is agreeing with you Sis emoticon!

Today is my strength training day in the gym with my trainer. I know she's going to kick my butt as usual, but I need it emoticon. She has me do this circuit training type deal where I do 2-3 machines then hit the treadmill and jog it out hard. The first half of the workout is cool, but when I get down to my last couple of machines (which are focused on legs), I swear that my legs are going to crumble right beneath me..

    Girl you did some cooking on Sunday. I cook like that once or twice a year or when lots of company will be over to eat it up. I'm doing good today. Happy about my Word study and being consistent in the things of God.

You must be eating those small twinkies. I just can't think of you eating real twinkies everyday. emoticon

I've did that before w/water and it's not a happy feeling at all. Drowning in a cup of water...and coughing too. Have to drink slower.

    well girl you survived your almost drowning. Sorry. At least you were not drinking it when it went up your nose. I was attending college at the time. I got a hot chocolate from the drink machine and took a drink got strangled on it and hot chocolate came out of my nose. I decided to throw the whole thing away. I have never drank hot chocolate again emoticon

    Sounds like you had a great day so far, I hope it continues for you. Im looking forward to the Candied Apple also, I will just wait till closer to Halloween or I will want one then also. Egg Nog too...Its already out in the stores and I want some SOOOO bad but thats a Chistmas thing so it will have to wait. Way to go on the workouts and I love listening to Joyce Meyer also. So What Have You Done Lately . . .

Good Day Sparkfam! Its a very brisk day & rainy day here in Chicago. My day: got up at 4am to do laundry (washing machine hasn't came yet) then went grocery shopping right after. I was SUPER sleepy!! But I pressed on. Got home to find that were delivery the washing machine. UGH! I didn't miss a beat. I started to put away groceries & laundry. Then I made my famous pancakes with scrambled eggs w/cheese, bacon, turkey sausage, pork sausage links & patties. Everyone was really pleased & ate everything off their plate. My hubby & sons were busy throwing things out to make room for the new machine. The old machine wasn't out there for 5mins before someone came & picked up. I got a love seat & sofa I wanna get rid, I wonder? lol

So today's workout would be cleaning & yoga stretches & my QFC. I am too pooped to POP! lol

So after all that I took a wonderful & much needed nap! Oh my, was it ever delicious! Better than any sweets or cheat foods I could ever have. YUMMY!! So what have you done lately for yourself or for someone else?

It always work like that when you are waiting. Then you take it on yourself to do...but I'm sure all is good regardless. Do you have that pancake recipe online? I have several different one and one that I use that I got out of I think Better Homes and Gardens. I can fix it by heart. My son loves it.

Getting My Fitness In

Good Day Sparfam! Its a beautiful sunny day here in Chicago & I am basking in that glow. . . . Today, I got up & made myself do All Star Workouts Yoga Zen w/weights.

I have been taking power walk breaks all day & tonight its abs, legs & glutes. Its gone be tough but I am trying to stay concentrated on getting fitness in as well as healthier foods. Yesterday, I wasn't a big mess but I will call yesterday my cheat day. I had Red Vines & grilled hamburger & chicken thigh. So I have to straighten up & fly right today. What I didn't understand is that I woke up at 1am last night hungry.

Guess what I am not thinking about?

I feel strong & I am not getting in the bed until its time to go to sleep. I stayed in bed all of yesterday except to cook a few side dishes. lol I know I'm a BUM! lol

Don't forget to dance today, its Hump Day!!



What healthy foods or new fitness class/dvd do you want to try?

    I really like strength training. I like doing machines and free weights. I'm thinking about taking a strength class at the gym but I love being able to do all the machines and afraid I won't have time if I do it. Still thinking about it. I'm having fun trying to get my tennis game back. Still kind of heavy to move as fast as I used to. ( I'm getting there!) I might try a video one day. Only tried a spark one once. Keep on keepin' on. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Yesterday, I mad a trip to my local Big 5 Sporting Goods store and to Sports Chalet. I was determined to get the necessary equipment to help me succeed at both my mother's home and my home. I wound-up purchasing two sets of neoprene dumbbell sets (5lbs and 7lbs) to keep at my mom's house for use (I already have my sets at my house) and a Yoga mat to do my DVD exercise routines. I also purchased The Biggest Loser Cardio Max DVD so that I could "spice-up" my weekly routine.

We can totally do this DEE. I have much more to lose than you, but I feel like we're in the same battle to be healthy and the same journey to encourage others. Keep up the great work you've been doing and I'll do the same.

My next accomplishment will be to walk 80 miles by the end of October , prayerfully my knees heard what I just said. LOL.
