I Am Learning . . . .

Monday, May 17, 2010

Good Day Sparkfam! I know its Monday I some of you may be feeling a bit out of sorts but there is room to celebrate another day we have been blessed with. We need to show our appreciation to others as well as our loved ones. Case and point, Saturday the Hubby & I are on I290 battling traffic since the road work began, I see a guy with his blinker to merge with our lane. I ask him are you going to let him in? He smirks at me and pulls up. I find that very distressing as I am working on being more courteous in my truck. For those of you that don't know, I have a certain level of impatience when I get in my truck. Okay okay, my kids call it road rage def con I. I used to be at def con 3 but I have mellowed out with trying to love others as I love myself. Well, there is a lesson to be learned in all things & that is teach by doing. . . .lol

Today, I am doing power walking, I did All Star Workouts Sara Ivanhoe Yoga with weights, later today will be abs, tae bo & my QFC. Hope you guys keeping up. . . .

God bless & Happy Monday!

Dee

It is road karma. I taught my kids when I taught them to drive that if they let peeps in, then they are more likely to get let in when they need it.

I haven't been on the Ike since the construction, heard it is a beeyatch!

Traffic and construction are two things that I hate . I learned my lesson a few years ago with this guy who pulled out in front of me (on a back road, at night) and then he hits the brakes and I almost hit him, that made me mad and so I hit my high beams and long story short this guy went nuts on me! I was in fear of my life , if it was not for another car coming and my pulling away as fast as I could he would have done something to me, I have no doubt about that. Next morning I saw the news and this guy's face was on TV! he killed his wife who was having an affair and injured her boyfriend and that is when he went on a crazy driving expedition and ran into me (lucky me) anyway he killed himself later that night. So you are doing the right thing by being patient with people, it's not worth it. On a happier note, emoticon on doing so well with your fitness program! You are emoticon Dee, god bless , Ann emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

I am all too familar with this concept but I think my hubby is worse. I have to tell him all the time to calm down because it's not worth it because we have too many crazy people out there that would hurt you for no reason. So think about yourself first and forget about the little things. You will get your blessings for it.

Happy Saturday. . . .

Saturday, May 15, 2010

Its early & I'm still sleepy. I didn't get a fit night of rest but I'm going on with my runs. My guilty pleasure today will not be food, drink or working out. Today my guilty pleasure will consist of nice 40minute nap. I have longing for a nap all week & what a way to seal Saturday afternoon. I didn't like naps as a child but as a preteen I would come home do my lesson, watch a few cartoons & then you guessed it hit the hay!

Today, I will be doing Power Walking, Jumping Jacks, Tae Bo & Yoga stretches. What are you doing today for exercise or what is your guilty pleasure?

God bless & enjoy Saturday!

I've done tons of walking and heavy lifting today due to getting things in order around the house. It's such hardwork when you finally get around to unpacking everything in your house. As far as guilty pleasure, I hit up the Farmers Market today for a couple of pounds of fresh blue crabs and some mussels. Yum! I'm going to indulge in pounds of fresh seafood and one mixed drink. I think I deserve it.

Fighting the Hunger Monster . . .

Wednesday, May 12, 2010

www.youtube.com/watch?v=_B4w4lafinU

What if we could fight hunger like Popeye did with spinach? Wouldn't that be lovely. . . . So how did I fight over indulgence today: I ate strawberries & a banana & I did have swedish fish but one serving so far. lol

I did walking today, I did Pilates Sculpt with weights & push ups & tricep dips & inner & outer thigh. I am tired but I do need a yoga workout so I will go to exercisetv.com for a freebies. How did you fight the urge to over eat?

God bless & let's dance, dance, dance, dance! Dee

fight the urge to eat with a healthy plentiful snack like blueberries or almonds with fat free cheese. healthy fats keeps you fuller longer and that is my secret weapon.

I ate greek yogurt, even though it isn't my favorite. But it has no fat and 10g of protein to keep me full.
It held me through my kickboxing class and all the way until I made dinner.
Woo hoo to all of us that conquered the hunger monster today!

More Butter. . .More Syrup. . . . I LIKE. . .

Tuesday, May 11, 2010

Here is my BIGGEST breakfast weakness. . . Thing is, I only want them when I make them. I tend to make them on the weekends but this morning I woke up & my son & husband wanted pancakes, bacon & turkey sausages. Mother had to make sure her babies go out into the world fed. Here's my favorite cartoon about pancakes. . . . .

www.youtube.com/watch?v=AjRACCuh3vc&
feature=related

See you get the pancakes, more butter, more syrup, more butter, more syrup but as you can see, Chilly Willy had to pay a price before he could have those mouth watering pancakes. . . YUMMY!! If were accountable with over indulgence as we have to pay to play (eat) how many times we would over do it fully knowing the consequence? Being overweight leads to hypertension, diabetes heart disease & many other life threatening diseases. With proper nutrition think of how healthy & fit we could all be?

Look at these Red velvet pancakes served with whipped cream cheese and butter pecan syrup, they look amazing! How can proper nutrition fight against this?

You can eat one pancake like I do & a slice of bacon, like I do. But I do need to ease up on the syrup & butter? lol Today, I did walking, tonight its weights, pilates & step aerobics., so see I can eat the cookies (pancakes) & feel less guilt. To some degree we have to either pull back from the table or do more push ups, squats, sits up & cardio with weights. . . . lol

God bless & give yourself 10-15minutes of fitness daily to make it a habit.

I love my homemade pancakes and I know how to make them healthier by adding oats and milled flax seed and low fat buttermilk gives them a great taste. I also use honey when I have
it or sugar free syrup. I will use real butter because it has health benefits. Thank God I don't make them everyday. LOL I try to make a lot for later and freeze them, but I just don't want them after I freeze them.
My sister and brother ate the same pancakes my mother made and who got all the weight? Yep me...LOL.
Thanks Dee for sharing!!!! emoticon

Oh my, those pancakes looked so good. I don't cook them but will occasionally have 1 or 2 when I'm out for breakfast on the weekend. No syrup and most of the butter gets pushed off the plate. Never heard of the red velvet pancakes but they look and sound good.

Push back or push up!

Dee I love Butter and Syrup too! I'm more of a waffle(nutri-grain) eater. I use smart balance and sugar free log cabin syrup. I love turkey sausage links by Jimmy Dean. I cannot tell a difference and trust me if anybody can it's me, but I pray on this stuff now...lol One thing with the butter is that instead of putting it in my all my food, I put it directly on it and you don't need as much to taste it. It's all in our eyes is what I had to figure out cause I had a weakness with overloading my potato with tons of butter and was taking the taste away and now it's healthy and I'm losing all this weight. I'm not going to know what to do with myself when I get there.=)

I'm so lucky that I don't like pancakes. It's not that I don't like em, its more that they sit like lead in my tummy. Now, when I make em from scratch, I never get a tummy ache.
