40 + 40 + 40 +40 = Health . . .

Thursday, September 17, 2009

So you wanna know how I came up with that number today? Well it started after I got out of bed feeling a little groggy. I put my shoes on one foot at a time only to find I hadn't put on my workout shorts or top so I had to laugh to myself! LOL This being 40 years young can be something else. Anyway, I turned to FitTv & they were doing my one of favorite segments, Legs & Glutes & after I got the rest of my clothes on I got right into my workout. So I gave myself 40minutes of tightening my legs, thighs, glutes & calf muscles. Then I put in my Boot Camp DVD & gave another 40 minutes of that high octane fast past total body workout. OUCH!
That darn Cathe is going to be the life of me! emoticon emoticon emoticon so after that All Star Workout with Sara Ivanhoe with yoga (vinyasa) segment & I would call that warm yoga I think I gave about 40minutes & burned close to 400 calories!

After I was done I walked for 40minutes & tonight I will give some abs & light stretch for an additional 40minutes! So after all that I will be lying in bed watching Medium. I will definitely sleep tight tonight! So here's to my life, health & well being.

I also need to ask you one question, what have you done for YOU lately?!

Blessings & give yourself 40, 30, 20 or even 10minutes of fitness today!

My plan was to drop in on a Runner's Training class, but they canceled it. I was so disappointed and really wanted to work out so I checked out the other classes they had going on. Found a Zumba class being led by a male instructor. I only mention that because at one point during the class he was doing belly dancing moves and he moved better than any woman I have ever seen. emoticon

Anyway I worked out for 60 minutes and had a lot of fun.

That's GREAT Dee! loved this blog!
So what did I do for myself...I left 90 in the bank after I decided that I would put a down payment on some braces for myself!

If Ihad known that was all that would be left in my account until next month...I might have changed my mind!

But I decided that I would pay for myown braces...and get my smile back together! :o)
I need to do more for me...without getting permission from anyone else 1st...this was my start!

My 30 will be coming up later this evening when I'm out playing volleyball.

I know what you mean about putting clothes on in the wrong order. Sometimes I can't seem to find the clothes that are laying right there in front of me. Side effect of being over 40 LOL?

Keep up the good work!

Aw Push It!

Tuesday, September 15, 2009

So lately, I have been just going through the motions. I was starting to feel like Bill Murray in Groundhog Day or Denzel Washington in DeJaVue like I had been here many many many times before. My workouts are pretty intense but I felt like I need to be pushed in a different directions. Although I do enjoy getting healthy, I have been too laxed about it! So yesterday after doing ab work with Cathe on FitTv,

I went to OnDemand, Exercisetv & found "get ripped." I was like well it couldn't hurt to try. Well I opened up Marco Reed & the man ripped me a new one!

It was new because it was boot camp but it revved it up 5 notches! I consider myself pretty fit but he threw me into a tail spin. Push up after push up, jumping jacks, squats & all done with weights, I was sweating like a PIG! I did do Jillian Michaels

yesterday morning & that was fine but Marco Reed has every muscle in my back, chest, abs, thighs & even my feet aching! So I had to show them what a Spark Member was made of, I had to finish & strong & I DID! Although I pushed it, what was Salt N Pepper pushing?!
Let's make everyday count. Live, love & laugh like its the first & best ever!

Now its nap time. See Ya!

So Diet Intake of an 115 year old

Friday, September 11, 2009

LOS ANGELES Although she liked her bacon crispy and her chicken fried, she never drank, smoked or fooled around, Gertrude Baines once said, describing a life that lasted an astonishing 115 years and earned her the title of oldest person on the planet.

It was a title Baines quietly relinquished Friday when she died in her sleep at Western Convalescent Hospital, her home since she gave up living alone at age 107 after breaking a hip.

She likely suffered a heart attack, said her longtime physician, Dr. Charles Witt, although an autopsy was scheduled to determine the exact cause of death.

"I saw her two days ago, and she was just doing fine," Witt told The Associated Press on Friday. "She was in excellent shape. She was mentally alert. She smiled frequently."

Baines was born in Shellman, Ga., on April 6, 1894, when Grover Cleveland was in the White House, radio communication was just being developed and television was still more than a half-century from becoming a ubiquitous household presence.

She was 4 years old when the Spanish-American War broke out and 9 when the first World Series was played. She had already reached middle age by the time the U.S. entered World War II in 1941.

Throughout it all, Baines said last year, it was a life she thoroughly enjoyed.

"I'm glad I'm here. I don't care if I live a hundred more," she said with a hearty laugh after casting her vote for Barack Obama for president. "I enjoy nothing but eating and sleeping."

The centenarian, who worked as a maid at Ohio State University dormitories until her retirement, had outlived all of her family members. Her only daughter died of typhoid at age 18.

In her final years, she passed her days watching her favorite TV program, "The Jerry Springer Show," and consuming her favorite foods: bacon, fried chicken and ice cream. She complained often, however, that the bacon served to her was too soft.

So we can only do what we can while we have the time. So let's get it poppin people!

Blessings emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticonDee

Wow! Thanks for sharing. I didn't know. I live in Columbus, Ohio where OSU is. We have a wonderful 101 Year old Patient. He still pulls his Lawn mower out of his basement & cuts his own grass. He only started having aches when he was 100. Sheesh, wish I could say the same. Sounds like she was a wonderful person. Like you :)

My great grandmom lived to be 103. She loved fried food but was very active and she loved to travel. When she was 100 she would sneak out of her son's home most mornings(he was caring for her) to go for a walk and enjoy nature. This lasted for a whole year before he found out one morning when she knocked over a trashcan in the back yard. LOL She was an amazing lady. emoticon
