Monday, August 03, 2009

No other way to say it SparkFriends but just to say, I had fries today & I dipped the fries in the cheese. Does that make me good bad or UGLY? Isn't that like having your salad dressing on the side of your salad?! LOL

Smile Everyday!!

I would say it makes you human emoticon I really don't feel guilty about things I eat. I just watch myself throughout the rest of the day or following days or exercise more. I can't give up the good stuff - that's a diet. SP is a life change. I hope you enjoyed every bite!!!!

I have fries once a week its the only way I stay sain. I am also gluten free, which means there are not many grains I can eat. And potatoes and rice happen to be two things I love that I can have. So once a week I have fries and once a week I have rice. On the one week I tried to skip my fries, I binged and ate 3 marshmallow rice cake. So it would have been alot easier to just have had my fries and alot less calories too.

Way to be honest about your choices!!

You are not bad or ugly because of food. We are not defined by our weakest moments, we are defined by our ability to gain strength along the way. Believe in yourself, and celebrate every little victory.

I enjoy the foods I like in moderation. The nutrition tracker will help you find a little room for treats now and again!!

Well Girl Friend, I do not feel guilty about anything I eat or drink. My life style which is not a diet, will always include the foods and drinks I enjoy. The thing is I do not eat every thing every day. Most times I eat between 1200 to 1500 calories a day. But if I want a pepsi not diet pepsi I will have one. If I want cake, potato chips etc you name it. If I want it I have it. I DO NOT FALL OF THE WAGON . I will be doing this for the rest of my life so every thing in reason. Now that said the last time I had a pepsi was I think in June maybe and we will not talk about my 3 week vacation. of which am still working off the last 2 pounds of the seven I gained. Like I have said if I can drop 70 lbs I can drop 7, I will enjoy myself. as I move though this life

Peace and Blessings

Once in a while you have to cheat. I'm that way with fast food hamburgers but at least once ever 3 months I give in.
The trick is to know its wrong and only do it to reward yourself for something you did good.

Having fries one day doesn't make you good, bad, or ugly. You have to give in to your cravings once in a while. cheese fries sure sound good! emoticon I made pizza for dinner, but I tracked it so I don't feel guilty at all!

Dee, continue to celebrate life and enjoy your new healthier lifestyle. One of my favorite passages that I like to model my life after are words from the Apostle Paul, "Be joyful always, pray continually, and give thanks in all circumstances, as this is God's will for you in Jesus Christ." (1 Thes 5: 16-18). Keep up the great work towards your goals. -- Evelyn

Gauging Success . . . .

Friday, July 31, 2009

I was just wondering how other Sparkpeople in my communities gauge their success with their healthier lifestyle? I have to admit I can't gauge my success by the numbers on the scale although that is how we define ourselves some times. We don't do it on purpose, that's just how our minds work. We see we can fit a size 2-4-6 & feel we have successfully won the weight loss battle only to find out, its just the beginning. So now you have maintain that weight without gaining it all back & more. I believe that is why I stopped weigh myself? I would get so distraught & reach for my favorite carb food red vines or go to Wendy's. Please let me know how you gauge success, please?

Thanks & Blessings! emoticon emoticon

I am basing it on my abilty to climb the 3 flights of stairs to my apt w/o losing my breath, and playing soccer better. Also, eating right, for the first time I am tracking what I eat for healthy reasons, not some fad diet. So pretty much on knowing I am healthy and staying that way.

Though the scale going down and smaller cloths will be great as well I am sure. But my health is most important to me.

Success for me is getting into my jeans and having them feel comfortable. Sure, size is always nice but feeling good about the way I feel is more important to me than a number. I like getting up in the morning a not having my back hurt the way it used to before I started to exercise on a more regular basis. (I'm sure the chiropractor helped a little.) I like knowing that I'm making healthier food decisions that will help me live longer. I like just being happier because I know I'm doing things that are good for me. That is success for me.

Let's see now, I don't really know yet, I have about 20 lbs to loose even though I am happy where I am now. success for me was loosing 70 lbs and knowing when I gain 5-10 lbs I can take it back off and to know that 5-10 lbs will be the most I allow my self to gain. Success to me is to know what to do to loose weight and to DO IT. You can know what to do but not do it. I hit the scale everyday because I do the WII FIT body test and you know what, I have come to terms with it. I only record it and my body measurements once a month. What really works for me is that I have found what makes me happy, and that is being in a healthy, active, mite I say a much smaller body . emoticon So I think I success for me is to look at what I have done, how far I have come. I smile at all my hard work and were it has gotten me and the life lessons I have learned along the way. Success for me is to know that I am a better person for taking this journey and God has so Blessed me. emoticon

I have forsaken the scale (for the time being) and use my clothes and how I feel as a guide. I was pretty attached to the scale and I was afraid I was becoming dependent on it as a barometer for my day.

I get on every now and then and see I've been maintaining without much effort on my part but I need to finish losing now. I'm mentally preparing to discipline myself to only step on the scale once a week...not 2-3 times a day.
hmmmmm
