Please Share Healthier Treats Suggestions

Good Day Sparkfam!! It's a beautiful day here in Chicago which made it equally hard to come to work.... I made it in and a few minutes to spare but I want to get here an hour earlier so that I can leave earlier. We have moved and it's just make my evening commute the worst!! I am grateful & SOOO blessed beyond measure to have this job!! They are so versatile and this is my dream job without the dream salary. It's either one or the other but before the bottom fell out my salary & bonuses were extremely nice. So it is what it is basically.

Here is my healthier snack treats suggestion:

These little puppies are so good!!! And guess what else?!! I can't stand dark chocolate! Seriously, I was watching Single Ladies and they were sharing them. They kept snatching the bag from one another so I saw & said why not? Boy am I glad I did and I shared them a few of my friends and they were glad I did. I am a very picky eater so this is another surprise. I don't crave chocolate often but I will measure out 16pcs which is the limit for me to keep on my person. Like my tub of yogurt I keep in my purse with juice & water. I have been craving soda lately so I have been buying the Kool Aid Jammers to try to fool myself. Not working really well but I'm reaching more for those than the soda.

I have probably lost 3lbs but I got plenty more to go....So I'm trying to watch my snacks but I need to also concentrate on my meals too.

God bless Sparkfam!!!

Smooches!

For dessert type treats I really like skinny cow fudge bars. Such a big serving for 100 calories. I also like frozen fruit bars, popcorn, sugar free pudding, life savers, a sliced apple sprinkled with cinnamon and cooked for a few min in the microwave is like apple pie, or a sliced banana lightly drizzled with chocolate syrup and a big scoop of whip cream is like a banana split.

God is Good!

Sunday, March 30, 2014

So I haven't posted in a while even though I Spark almost everyday. I just have been trying to listen and be quiet. A leader of my church group said I speak my mind too much, that is because for so long I have had others shove their brand of thinking down my throat that at a certain point I have to get my point across as well.....

Well, my 1999 Ford Expedition has been acting up but I have been doing everything but giving her mouth to mouth resuscitation!!! lol Yeah, its that serious, I really love/loved that truck. It's still sitting out front, I'm just wondering should I get a new engine for her? She starts up but the sounds coming out of her make me want to give her rest but she's got another 50,000 miles left in her at least?!! So I have been renting cars for the last week & a half and let's just say, it ain't cheap!!! Yesterday me, hubby & my youngest went out looking, just to look at cars. I had my heart set on this 2005 Infiniti beautiful car but the title had been rebuilt meaning she was in a wreck. UGH!!! Well we cruised on & found a 2008 Infinite powder blue & very low miles and I got to test drive her. She almost had my heart till they said, it's $15,800! So I waved goodbye, we went to Aurora Honda where I saw they had a 2009 Hyundai Genesis on the lot. The asking price was $13,995, I saw almost the exact same one for $16,995 so I knew it was definitely a deal. My hubby tried to do everything but they wouldn't budge at all. I have never been to a dealership where they never budged at all. We test drove it & it was great!! My hubby who DID NOT like the car was over the moon with all the accessories! MEN! They love toys gadgets & what nots and gidgets and gadgets galore. So needless to say, I am now the owner of this beautiful car. I still miss my truck but not putting gas into her. She needed a rest but still thinking of what to do with her? Here are picks of my new blessing that God gave me:

This not an actual pic but I was just a little excited. Its not brand new but with the new business just getting out the gate, I didn't want a semi truck tractor note and a huge luxury car note. In the future I still plan to either get a 2015 Hyundai Genesis or 2015 Dodge Durango/Jeep Grand Cherokee..... What are you grateful for these days?! Health definitely!!

I am doing ok on my workouts but not as much as I planned. I have my grandson most nights so it's like having a baby all over again. So he will be a year in May he is getting better each month. But he hates when he can't see you or be near you. I am trying to get in as much as possible on weekends & at work. How are you guys doing with the summer fastly approaching???

God bless & think healthy!!

CHURCH FOLK always trying to change who God made us to be. NOTICE I SAID CHURCH FOLK?????God made us all different. He is the only who can make us into what he wants us to be NOT CHURCH FOLK! Those folk need to work on themselves. I was a very quiet girl. I still have my moments but now that I have found my voice in Christ I refuse to hush about his love and grace. I found my voice in him. emoticon nice ride bt the way.

At my age it's hard to have children around for extended periods. Sure with my life experiences I have learned tons of patience and that the children are worth every moment I am able to give them. I also know certain things I want to get done will wait. You'll fit in pushups and bicycle crunches while you are down on the floor with the little one. Or do squats. Every minute counts.

Love you!

I enjoyed reading this blog --- it is a super reminder of just how blessed we are. I have heard it said that the poorest in this United States would be considered rich beyond words by most others on plant earth.

May God bless you & provide you with all your needs (that is a promise He has given those who are His) & some of your wants & even a few of your "greeds"!

Happy 1st of December

Good Sonday Sparkfam! Just sitting here sparking & thinking of how grateful I am to be here in the land of the living. I think of what today means to me, it's World's AIDS Day, it's the day my mothers died 16 years ago and it's also my hubby's birthday today. So we actually celebrated my hubby's bday last night with pizza, popcorn, boneless wings & bbq wings, oh and cup cakes. My oldest grandson just had a ball!! He wants to have another party but we won't do that again until Christmas. I would like to do something every other week....

So I did loads of walking to gear up for the after Thanksgiving food bonanza... FOOD FOOD FOOD! I did give to my favorite charities but still more to do like giving away our gently used clothes. I try to do it all year long but other things get in the way. I am so thankful for the research going on with AIDS and other illness like cancer. I am thankful that I had a loving mother who pulled her hair out at how difficult a child I was. So I can't complain too much about my own kids you get as good as you give. LOL I am also thankful for the crazy relationship I have with my hubby. It's been one but we still together.

Had the last day of my Leaders Class at church today but the next level is tools of teaching. I am geared up for it and excited because I always thought I could be a good teacher but then again I become afraid that I don't know enough.... I pray you all had a wonderful day and got in some kind of walking or cardio. It's tough with all that's going on but that what's keeps us healthy...

God bless & O happy day Sparkfam!

Happy December TWO, my friend! I'm sure you'll be a great teacher--it's great that your church is equipping you.

You know what--I didn't overeat at Thanksgiving! I hosted friends from Burundi, Colombia, & India, plus my young cousin & her husband from the US. Because most of the guests don't have the T-giving tradition of a gluttonous feast, nobody went back for seconds, & I didn't either.

Happy birthday to your hubby, & hugs to you!

Weird

Sunday, November 10, 2013

So Happy Sunday Sparkfam! It's been a beautiful day here in Chicago, I am in a class at church called Leadership and it's going well. My last class the teacher told me that in a kinda kind way, "that I speak my mind?" Which is kind of weird cause I hold a lot back. I probably over share in blogs or papers more...lol What's weird is that it hurt my feelings because I when I speak, I'm not outing other people, I'm speaking on myself....Any thoughts? I NEED YOUR HELP!

Anyhow, my grandson is still spending 2-3 nights a week to go to my besties for daycare. It is very tiring especially since he is set for night sleeping. He wakes up still 1-2x during the night for feeding. The doctor says no milk but I give him a scoop in 4oz of water. He too big and his appetite is too to play with him. His mom also says she has the same problem so there it is. A scoop of milk, he turned 6months yesterday and isn't crawling, he is however rolling, he has fallen out the bed 2x. I caught him from rolling out about 12! He is too funny, loud, smiley and cracks himself all the time. His brother is doing well in school, he has all good grades except in math. So time to get the ruler out and loose change. I used to love to do odd jobs for neighbors and run to the store for them for money of course. That fed my habit for junk which I didn't have to hit my mother up for all the time. That could be his incentives for learning too.

I am junked out over here. I need to try to curb my junk food habit. I am trying to chew the gum again and eat more green stuff...YUK! No thrill in that but it is tasty with the right seasonings. I haven't worked out as much as I wanted but I'm not working out as much as I am munching out...UGH!

So what have you guys been up too? I keep you all in my prayers and thoughts and ever so grateful to God for leading me to Sparkpeople.

God bless & happy Sonday!

Dee

Sounds like your grandson is hungry and not getting something that is waking him up at night. Might look at his food and see if you can give him more protein or veggies to see if that would take care of the waking up in the middle of the night. As for the Sunday class I would go to the leader in private and ask that person what did they mean by it. You did say that they said it in kindness, so ask what they meant.

Why isn't your grandson supposed to have milk? I guess he needs formula at his age no? My son was eating food and nursing like a champion at that age. Wow, you are doing amazing helping your daughter out so much. That boy is going to be attached to you. :) Anyway, I have been cooking most of the day. I made oat banana muffins for breakfast and chili and cornbread for lunch. It was not a light day, but we needed something warm. We are switching to more wintery foods now that it's getting so cold out there. Anyway, you get some sleep when you can! I will be praying for you. (And keep speaking your mind.)

RUTHXG 11/10/2013 8:06PM

I'd be proud to have the leader tell me that I speak my mind! I'm sure you do it without trampling on others' thoughts/feelings. It's really important to feel empowered to say what you think--that's what makes for good discussions. Be proud of yourself, Dee!

Sorry your little guy is having struggles sleeping through the night. Very likely it's because of his size. My son gave up his middle-of-the-night nursing last of all . . . but then he grew up to be 6 feet 6 inches tall. Giving water instead of milk is a great way to taper it off, so that waking up is not so rewarding.

I tried out a great soup recipe today--pumpkin & peanut butter in broth, Thai style. It was SO GOOD! That's my favorite way to get veggies: in dishes with other yummy flavors.

Good to hear from you--I've missed you lately! emoticon
