Good Sunday Sparkfam!

Sunday, February 17, 2013

Good Day Sparkfam! It has been a wonderful Sunday here in Chicago. The weather was beautiful, made it to my Thirst Quenchers Class at church but there were a few detours but made it nonetheless. Church was off the hook but I am still feeling the fire burn. I pray you all are enjoying your weekend but it has to come to an end.....but guess what? Stay tuned cause there will be another coming up oh in about 5 days....lol

We are on our way out to dinner to the www.wildfire.com which is in Oak Brook. I already baked chicken & made baked macaroni & cheese with bacon. That will be our back up with some baked sweet potatoes with cinnamon & butter. YUMMY! I am holding out for a dinner prepared by someone else....

So what are you guys doing or did exciting over the weekend?

God bless & be encouraged!!

Dee

Wonderful that worship was on fire today! And I hope you all had a great time going out to eat later.

I had a lovely weekend with my granddaughter--almost two now!--& my son & daughter-in-law in St. Louis. I needed it so badly, & God is good to give me these visits. We went to church too & then picked up some Taco Bell (your dinner sounds MUCH more exciting!).

emoticon Happy Sunday To You Dee!!!

I wish I would have went out but I made a whole wheat spaghetti dish with cream of mushroom soup. It really needed cream of chicken soup lol. It was Fit & Active brand. You are always cooking something mouth watering and I would hate to just make a trip to Chicago just to eat lol. I have another friend that lives close to the Wisconsin border who puts pictures of her meals on facebook. Glad you were blessed today with your service. Being in the Presence of The Lord is Wonderful! Enjoy the rest of your evening and have a prosperous week! BLINK and it's the weekend again!

Good Day Sparkfam!

It's been a minute but I do want you guys to know all is well with me. I have been logging but I can't seem to blog if I use the privacy feature that I have on google. Anywho, I pray all is well with you guys & I am just enjoying the calm yesterday the winds whipped at high speed. Had my hair whipped all around my face & you know I don't wear hats unless its in the low 20s or teens but I should've had one on yesterday. Paper is everywhere, I had a ladies meeting for the Jewels in His Crown group at our church's corporate office. I really enjoy myself & the theme of course was sweets. I bought, Kimberley's triple chocolate & red velvet cupcakes. The pic is shown below. Let me tell you I didn't taste them last night but today is my good friend & co-workers b'day so I bought them again. I tried & it was dreamy, do I want another one? NO! Not at 370 calories & 180calories from fat. HELLO!! UGH!! See my title. lol

So tonight will be 20mins of step aerobics, 30mins of weights & maybe if I am good then I can have 30mins on the dreadmill.....UGH! HELP!

I am so enjoy February & the fast for 21days for spiritual reasons really taught me how to really put foods into their place. You eat to live not the live to eat. Yes we can have indulgences but also have to be mindful of how much & when we do indulge.

God bless my special Angels!

Love,

Dee

Yeah, That's high in cals. For my birthday, I had a chocolate hazel nut tart. High in everything, but I shared it, so I wouldn't eat it all. Tomorrow is my actual birthday celebration, and my friend is bringing a rum soaked Russian cake. Well, of course, I must have a slice. (A small slice.)

That looks SO good!!! I rather have Strawberry though lol. Eating all those calories will make you jump on the treadmill even if you don't like it lol. I've worked out hard when I've splurged and most of the time I KNOW how many calories but I think I'm talking about those cookies I told you about. That will make me watch my servings when I'm working out at midnight lol. I tell you what I'm going to watch my Brownie serving. I may put peanut butter on it. OR I could eat Oatmeal with my add ins!! I'm up late and have an early morning and I realized I gave you another heart but this on one was for you and your DH! emoticon
Enjoy Your Day!

Are those the pictures of the actual cupcakes you made? They are beautiful! I've never had red velvet anything before, but those just look, well, divine.

Good for you for only having ONE, and I'm so glad to read that you do step aerobics. I thought I was the only one left doing that.

Hope you had a happy end to your happy day!

That is just TOO scrumptious looking! I'm glad you had one--JUST ONE. emoticon It's great to hear how your fast helped you put things in perspective!

I still want to visit your church one of these Sundays. Last Sunday I went to St. Sabina to hear Dr. Cornel West speak. He was dynamic as always, but I had to leave partway through because of a meeting. emoticon These days I don't have regular Sunday-a.m. responsibilities at my own church, so it is a good time to get a taste of other congregations & enjoy their gifts. I'll be in touch!

Yes, that wind was crazy!! Take care of yourself, my dear. Actually you seem to be doing a really good job of that! emoticon

Bbbbrrrrrr....its a blustery day here

Monday, January 21, 2013

Good Monday Sparkfam! It is a frigid day of 15degrees & I had to turn down coffee. Never fear I didn't need it anyway. Our heat is out in the office, its a cold 57degrees & I am FREEEZZZIIINNNGGG today! Chin up, I didn't leave once I got here & I got my heater on which is only warming my legs. My fingers as I type are getting a little numb but I press on... lol These aren't the worst conditions as a matter of fact there are worst. I know I don't even have to tell what they are & I know I am blessed because of them all!

So I did the dreadmill this morning & hoping to get a few free weight reps in before I get stuck to the trap that is the boob tube. lol It sucks you right in let me tell you if you don't already know.

What is on your agenda for the rest of your life? I would like to own my own truck & be able to be financially set till I go live with one of my kids...haha I can see that one get shot down from here. lol Go traveling or even volunteer in another country......WOW myself! Get busy living cause you are only living to die. Why not enjoy life along the way with your loved ones & even complete strangers.... It takes more muscles to frown that to share a smile...

God bless & enjoy everyday!

I LOVE YOU GUYS!!

I know this is normal for this time of year, but it has been a LONG time since we've had temps this cold. I'd take the snow over the frigid temps any day.

Although, since this is Chicago we're talking about, we could always have both. Which I wouldn't like at all.

I'm glad you have a space heater at work!

Awwwww! Sorry you were cold today at work. It was colder here and I didn't get to stay out in the air that long. Should have taken a walk on Sunday when it was practically 70 degrees! I plan on being an accomplished Author, Poet and Screenwriter. Before long I will have a greeting card business. Visiting Israel is also on my list and a trip to Hawaii! emoticon

    We love you too, Dee!

So you have to work today? Boo! I have it off & am doing some freelance work at home--fortunately it's an enjoyable project. I did some challenging exercise this morning (routine from the latest Spark DVD), & I got to listen to part of the inauguration on the radio. A little while ago I bundled up to walk to the grocery store, half a mile away. I'm wearing long underwear & everything!

These days I think LOTS about the rest of my life. I'm spending less so as to pay off the debt, & every week I'm putting $25 into my travel savings. Yes, I want to have some adventures volunteering overseas when I'm retired too! Maybe we can have one together!

Guacamole & Pico De Gallo

Wednesday, January 16, 2013

Good Wednesday Sparkfam!

You'd think I was out partying with all the guacamole & pico de gallo & salsa I've been eating. I have been trying to keep it more daniel day but without meats. It is kinda hard but I'm pressing. I pray you are all having a great hump day as I a ready for a nap. I'm not eating but I am watching Not Your Mama's Cooking with Bobby Dean. Even though he is making some mango slider burgers I am never curious as to how they taste. I just like looking for newer spices & ways to cook food for my fam. I made turkey lasagna simmering the turkey after it cooked in sweet wine. It had such a beautiful taste! I am not getting big workouts in but in a few weeks I will be able to go full on back to 45-60mins of cardio. I can wait though....lol

God bless & happy hump day!

I Love The Chips But Not Avocado's. I Can't Get Used To That Taste. emoticon I Can Eat Salsa All Day Although I Rarely By It. I Buy A Lot Of Chopped Tomatoes And Rotel.     I love watching the Food Network and Cooking shows. They have great techniques I have never seen for preparing food, and I like to figure out ways to cut the calories in some of the dishes. My favorite is on Saturdays, The Country Cook that also shows products used in the kitchen and what is worth getting and what to forget about getting (appliances, cookware, etc.) They have some really great recipes and sometimes even show ways to lighten up recipes!

Opened the Alternate Saving Account

Monday, January 07, 2013

So I am getting the year started off semi putting my money where my mouth is & opened another savings account to do the $1 then add a $1 plus each week. I had $25 so I guess you would say I am set for the month but NOOOOOO... I am thinking of putting another $25 in there right now..lol

I do want take the slow & steady route as with getting more workouts in & eating better. I also desire to take the road less traveled which is a slightly less popular route let me tell you. I rarely see many people I know on it but I am encouraged from you all Sparkfam!

Walked for 45min now I am trying wrapped my head around 40mins of boot camp. Back in the day, that used to be a teaser for me now it takes everything I have to get it in....ugh! lol

So let's really dig deeper and the most you can ever do is a little bit better than the best you can....

God bless & Happy Monday we made it!

Baby girl our church is doing this savings plan as well, however we flipped. It's easier to give the higher amounts beginning off the year versus us going at the end with the holidays and shopping. Just an idea I wanted to share!

Girl, I am right there with you. Yesterday, I did 50 minutes of elliptical before my legs started crying. Then I did planks, and I felt like I was back to square 1. The Russian Twists had me sweating like crazy. On the financial scene, I told my husband since I have lost so much weight (well, enough to be able to buy used stuff), we are not buying new clothes or items for the house anymore (my son will get new socks and undies). There are plenty of thrift stores, one in particular that gives its money to children with autism. I am still the only one working, so it makes the motivation to save easy (ier). You keep at it! Before long, you'll have a next egg for the summer. emoticon
