A Positive Change!

Monday, March 29, 2010

Today I removed a wallpaper border from around the top of our laundry room walls. Normally, by now, I'd have so much neck and shoulder pain from all that reaching over my head. But I feel pretty good... It has to be those strength exercises I'm doing 3 times a week!

Way to go! I am doing some heavy physical labor right now and it is so exciting to be able to do it and feel so good and strong. My mantra is light and strong.

Thought-Provoking Sentence

Sunday, March 28, 2010

Today, watching Daniel Amen's show while on the treadmill, I heard a sentence I'd never heard before.... "The whiter your bread, the sooner you're dead."

Thanks to a mum who was into healthy eating, I rarely eat white bread (and my mom will soon be 90 so healthy eating just might be one reason for this! She still bakes her own bread most of the time... spelt flour, fortified with ground flax, ground millet, etc... very good, very filling).

Kudos, Mum! When I was younger, I didn't appreciate you limiting my junk food; I now know you were on the right track! Thanks for being tough and showing me a good example.

Challenges and Victory

Friday, March 26, 2010

Have spent way too much time today contending with Quicken (converting from Windows to Mac). After several hours, I have won the first round! And round 2 has begun as I learn how to download transactions.

And I witnessed myself going to the kitchen 3 times to grab something to eat. And since I noticed, I didn't eat. Each time I drank more water! This is a good thing!!! Hope I continue to notice my emotional eating and stop it in its tracks!

This is quite a victory! Congratulations! Now I am inspired, too!

BTW, is there a non-food pleasure that you can allot yourself instead of the eating--at those moments you catch yourself? Maybe put a pan of hot water under your desk to soak your feet--or relax with a massage cushion on your shoulders for 10 minutes--or a spritz of new cologne--or set the timer and watch 10 minutes of comedy on youtube--just brainstorming . . . often when we wander into the kitchen, the desire for a break is valid!

Great job being mindful and drinking water!

A Less than Positive Day

Thursday, March 25, 2010

I'm doing ok, still on track. But just feel blue today. First off, my once or twice a week walking buddy fell and broke her hip and I feel so badly for her. My mom is depressed again (she is bi-polar) so I'm concerned about her, the sun barely shone today, and I haven't heard back from a friend of mine who hasn't slept well in months... still hope to hear before day ends. So, concerned for him too. However mustn't dwell on all these things.

I did stay on track with food and fitness. And I plan to do some reiki drumming after supper, which will re-balance my emotions. I have a loving hubby, 2 great children (now young adults), I have a warm house, and good food and wonderful friends (including my new SP friends).

All is well,
All is well,
All manner of things, everything.
All is well. (author of this comforting song is unknown to me)

Blessed be, everyone.

You are so right to count your blessings. When people we care about are hurting it is natural to feel that we want to make things better. Unfortunately there frequently isn't much we can do except pray and believe that everything will turn out for the best.

Bravo for you for staying on plan.

Preparing...

Wednesday, March 24, 2010

I've been busy all day doing cardio, strength workouts, laundry, cleaning out fridge, tidying up, cleaning. And walked to nearby mall to post letters and do banking. Whew!

Looking forward to supper with my family. Went to Swiss Chalet website to see their nutrition info. and know exactly what I want to order (can even have dessert (frozen yogurt) if I feel like it and still come in line with my nutrition needs!) (Have added the Swiss Chalet foods to the food list if anyone else needs them (but only the 3 things I'm ordering)).

I just don't want to sit still today... sun is shining, and I have more energy than I've had since I don't know when! Not complaining though... feels great to be feeling great!!!

Swiss Chalet used to have this Santa Fe chicken salad that was sooo good and very low in calories. Oh how I miss it!

Nice job on planning ahead! emoticon
