Awesome!

Wednesday, February 29, 2012

One of my sisters went to visit Mom today ... all good news! She has gained 14 lbs (now at 93 lbs) so this is wonderful! She is fitting in well, made a few friends, all the staff love her. This is just such a huge relief for us all!

Miserable weather here. I had to take my car for service and was thankful the wet snow didn't turn to freezing rain as was forecast. Since it's so cold and dreary today, I made a nice batch of Peruvian Quinoa Stew for supper... Yummy!

I continue to clean this big ol' farmhouse and make sure to rest a lot... still very tired from last week's busy stressful times! I am reading the 2nd book of the Inheritance series "Eldest"... pretty good so far!

Stay warm and well, everyone!

Still Resting...

Sunday, February 26, 2012

Throat is now sore; voice hasn't improved. Still taking it easy! Had a big bowl of black bean soup, toasted tomato sandwich for lunch. Yummy! Took a long, hot bath (putting epsom salts and some essential oils (lavendar, tea tree, juniperberry) in the water. Ahhhhhh

Been looking into purse organizers, travel organizers, etc. I am on the go so much these days I need to be more organized! Also, want to have something with RFID protection in it for when we seriously travel (as opposed to back and forth to the city travel).

Finished reading "The Help". Started reading Eldest (2nd book of Eragon "Inheritance" series).

We are planning to take supper over to my mom-in-laws tonight; keeping it simple this time!

Be well, for all is well!

How the Week Went...

Saturday, February 25, 2012

Hi Everyone,
This past week was a busy one but lots happened and lots was accomplished.

My Mom moved into the nursing home on Tuesday morning. She is settling in there nicely and my family and I continue to be impressed with the gentle, comforting way the staff look after all their residents. They also go out of their way to make the transition easy for not only Mom, but us too, as we deal with the paperwork and routine setups. Most systems are in place (hair care, foot care, meds, food likes & needs, etc, etc, etc) and I hope to finish up the other things next week.

Dad continued to rest and get over his latest bout of pneumonia this week, though he hated to miss being part of moving and settling Mom. On Friday he was back to the dr for a checkup and she declared that she hasn't heard his lungs that clear in a long time. We went straight from the dr's office to the nursing home so he could see Mom. He and I joined her for lunch too - nice! Just before we left, Mom was introduced to another resident who, like Mom, is a British war bride. Her name is Letty, Mom's name is Betty...and I think Letty and Betty will be chatting quite regularly now!!

Due to the hectic pace of the week, I've succumbed to some sort of head cold which has decided to settle down into my throat... leaving me with little to no voice. So, have decided to rest up this weekend and talk as little as possible!

Once again, thanks for keeping us all in your positive visions, thoughts and prayers! Things have, for the most part, fallen smoothly and quickly into place. It is a relief to have Mom settled in and enjoying her new 'digs'!

Blessings and have a super weekend!

Thoughts connect-I was thinking of Your Mom before I clicked to read Your blog and I thought I do not even know Your Mom's name! WOW and here it is in this blog! I want to go stay with Her! Hair, feet, food likes, meds sounds like a small bit of heaven right now as tired as I am and as I am sure Your are! I love that Your Dad is doing so well and He got to spend time with Your Mom! And I love that Her new Friend is named Letty!! Letty and Betty-BFFs!!! Rest up and feel better!!! ((HUGS))

Better today!

Monday, February 20, 2012

Feeling much better today; got a few things done around here and made sure to rest in between tasks.

If I feel well enough tomorrow, I'll drive 2.5 hours to be there when Mom is transferred to the nursing home .. Yes, tomorrow is the day (as long as there isn't another illness outbreak that is). Sure hope not, as this is an emotional roller coaster.

It's been tough for me and my sisters today... we're all a bit emotional. So glad we're all on the same page with this situation though... it would be so much more difficult if we weren't.

Enjoy the rest of your week!

Yesterday & Today

Sunday, February 19, 2012

Well, quite frankly... I crashed and burned! I was SOOOOO tired yesterday that I did very little, laid in bed reading most of the day. Was chilled & feverish for quite a bit of the day, but started to feel better by last night. Today, have been doing a few things that need doing, but making sure to rest between chores. Still more resting than doing anything, but I feel less lazy. The fevers/chills have turned into a mild cold. I just hope my parents don't get this now.

My sister found the marriage certificate ... woo hoo! That means I have all the papers now to go to HRDC and apply for their involuntary separation. So relieved she found this certificate; I was not looking forward to having to look for it again this week!

My DH's brother's mom-in-law had a stoke this morning. That is all we know..hope to hear more soon.

Be well, everyone and give a big hug to your families today... appreciate them and love them.
hugs,
