After a 5 hour delay in LA airport, I see that my DD's long flight to Auckland has landed. Hope she and her friends don't have long to wait to get a flight to Christchurch!
I've felt very tired and sad today. After the past few busy days, and then yesterday's driving to the airport (2.5 hours each way), waiting, etc. I think I was just in need of a relaxing day. But this meant that I was dwelling on the fact that I won't see my daughter for awhile.
All in all though, it was a nice day. And it's not over yet, as DH and I have a movie to watch this evening!

As mentioned a few days ago, I'm going to report on my first impressions of SOS Cuisine!
And the bottom line is... so far so GOOD!
On Thursday morning (and you can choose to start your plan ANY day of the week), I received my plan for the upcoming week's 5 dinners. I spent some time Friday going over the plan and looking through the recipes' ingredients & instructions. Since there were a couple of dishes (one entree and one salad) that I was pretty sure wouldn't go over well in my house, I went through their extensive recipes and substituted other ones into the menu.
Then I hit a button and voila... printable menu, grocery list and action plan for the week (so I can prepare some of the items ahead of time should I wish to do so). You can also print off the recipes if you wish (I decided not to for it was going to take a lot of paper and I can take my laptop to the kitchen as needed).
Today I braved the snow and headed to town for groceries needed! At 4pm, I started a double batch of "My Mothers Tomato Sauce" (lots of veggies in it!) and while it was simmering, I made the meatballs. While these baked in the oven and then simmered in the sauce, I cleaned up the kitchen, set the table and made a spinach/cranberry/almond/sesame seed salad and even had time to read some SP articles too)!!
Supper was yummy! (Since I doubled the recipe, I can serve it later this week, or freeze it for another week)
Tomorrow, I'm making the Spicy Sweet Potato Soup - I have the ingredients already, and I've just discovered that I can add breakfasts and lunches to the plan too, so I can make a complete plan! It will take some time to customize things but...
I feel like I've been chosen for an appearance on "Fixing Dinner" !!! It feels so good to be organized for the week's meals.
Now, I know some of you will say that SP does all this too. Well, I've tried it and it just wasn't for me. We're all different and we all have to look for what works for us ... thankfully different options are out there!

.... might be me!
I woke up way too early, was too warm and decided to go downstairs to turn back the furnace (I forgot to do it before I went to bed.. and I would smack my head and say "Doh" right now, but that wouldn't be a good idea (as you'll learn below))!
You see, our aging cat has started to do his thing outside the litter box, so we have put up a barricade so he can't roam as far from the box... making us humanoids (who clean up after him) much happier.
Well, I was happier...until I fell over the barricade in the dark enroute to the thermostat! Let me tell you that Archangels Raphael & Michael have been busy since then. My left wrist, hand and palm took the main hit. and I wouldn't even know I'd hurt them now! And the goosehead on my forehead (which took the secondary hit) is much smaller than it was and barely hurts when I rub it. Perhaps it won't bruise either?! Time will tell.

More cleaning, more tidying up done today. Also helping my daughter get her upcoming trip organized. Good day food wise, also changed my exercise this morning... not quite so much aerobics/walking cardio... added in crunches, etc and also sped up my walking pace for 30 seconds, then regular pace for 2 minutes for a lot of my workout. A change is as good as a rest so they say!
Sunny here today - a welcome treat after yesterday's rain & dreariness!
