Trying to get over this flu bug... :(

Sunday, March 06, 2011

So my Saturday consisted of waking up with a screaming headache, pressure in my chest, and a roaring 102.6 fever. Not exactly how I wanted to start the day out. Thank God my husband didn't have to work today, because there was no way I was going to be able to take care of my kiddos! :( My oldest daughter has a bit of this, as she came home on Friday running a temp and went straight to bed and slept till 3:30 this morning. Her and I laid around all day. emoticon My husband and youngest daughter cleaned house and cooked dinner, so that was helpful! emoticon

On a positive note, my cupcakes turned out so cute, and she was the talk of her party at school. (pictures to come) That made me feel good, and I think that she was shocked that despite the fact that I didn't feel good, I came through for her. I really wanted to just crawl into bed, but I was a trooper! Feeling somewhat better, since I am able to get on here, but I wear out easily. Hoping for a better day tomorrow, as I have to work, and my boss will be back, but only to catch up on what she needs to do (her dad passed away last Saturday).

Hoping everyone else is feeling great, and loving their weekend! I'm on the mend...!

Thanks, Julie! I definitely wouldn't go to work with a 102 fever! Although Sundays I get to work entirely by myself, so I wouldn't breathe on a soul! ;)

Thanks so much, Susan! I get sick twice a year, too (Thank God), and this one really knocked me down! I feel so much better today! Yeah!!! And yes, Thank God for my hubby and kiddo! Couldn't have made it through without them! :)

Great job Mom! I remember how important the "little" thinks like cupcakes are to kids! Can't wait to see the pics! My youngest used to get sick on a regular basis and I used to get sick at least twice a year. Her doctor told us to start taking vitamin D daily. We did and I haven't been sick since. She still gets sick, but no more bronchitis and her sicknesses last half as long.

Get better and rest! Thank God for a good husband and child!

Make sure you take time to take care of yourself. I know I've only taken 5 sick days in 11 years-that being said don't go to work if you have 102! You'll get worse (and maybe share the love with your co-workers)

It's great to be dependable-but be sure you really get well!

Fever and chills and body aches, oh my! :(

Friday, March 04, 2011

So yesterday, I started out with a fairly small cough. I was up for 20 hours yesterday (meaning up at work all night, and most of the day, Thursday), so by the time I had gotten my kiddos from school, I felt like I was having an out of body experience. emoticon I got the kiddos home and laid on my loveseat, and then came the chills and fever. Oh Good Lord! That is all I need right now. I went to work, because not only do I not call in, but I had no one to cover me. In 9 years of working where I am, I have only called in sick 4 times, and missed a week, due to my dad passing away. I hate to have someone cover me when I am gone. I am feeling somewhat better, but still have this irritating cough that I started with. emoticon

My daughter's birthday is today, so I will be baking cupcakes and decorating today. She wants flowers on them, so I am making them out of marshmallows and decorator sugar. Should be cute. Hopefully I will feel much better today..., no working out for me. :(

Have a remarkable weekend, and hope everyone is happy and healthy! emoticon

So sorry, sounds like the awful flu.
Lots of water, tea, etc.
It will need to run its course.
Praying for you. emoticon

Just catching up... :)

Thursday, March 03, 2011

Everything is going well! Kyle (my youngest), has a doctor's appointment for a follow up from our disaster last week. He is doing so much better! We have created what I call a "chore" chart and on that chart are two things that he is doing so well with. 1. Go to the bathroom. Now for all of us that seems so insignificant, but to a 5 year old, well I guess you have to put it in writing. lol 2. Try a new food everyday. He has done really well with this. My son is the pickiest person I know that I will probably EVER meet! He is one of those kids that when you tell him to try a new food, he is gagging himself just thinking of having to put it in his mouth. :( We actually got him to eat about 9 kernels of corn the other night, and that is BIG TIME awesome! So, we are working on it. He gets "points" for that and the other things that he has to do daily, to be rewarded after getting so many points, so I know that we are moving in a positive direction! emoticon

Still psyched about going to the gym and working out, which I am happy about. Not getting tired of it, and usually when I miss a week of not working out, I just lose interest and don't go anymore (last September). I don't EVER want to do that again. It's not about the weight loss (although that's nice too), it's about just all over feeling great about youself and feeling healthy. Keep moving! Have an awesome Thursday!! emoticon It's supposed to be a beautiful day here in Wichita, so take advantage of it!

For sure, Jessika! I missed ALL last week, and was for sure I was going to get into a "I don't want to go" rut..., didn't happen! Yeah!! :) Susan, I'm glad you can empathize with me! It's really hard to have a picky eater, when the rest of us aren't. That may be why he is underweight, and I am overweight! Hahahahah :)

Great idea on the points chart! I have 4 grown kids. 3 girls and 1 boy. The girls will try normally anything and really only picky because they want more veggies. My son? Is the most pickiest eater I know. Now he was raised the same as the girls and ate exactly the same! What a pain! Keep moving girl! You can do it!

I'm the same way.... the longer you DON'T go to the Y, the easier it is to keep not going and harder to start up again... Hang in there!

So much fun!!

Monday, February 28, 2011

I tried Zumba for the first time today! It was a blast! I have to tell you, I was VERY apprehensive when I first got there, not knowing what to expect. There was another lady standing there, and I had asked if she had done it before. She told me no and that she had just watched a couple of times. I got out on the floor and told her that she HAD to join me! So we took the class, and at the end, she thanked me for telling her to get to it! That made me feel very proud, that someone was thanking me for the encouragement, someone I had never met before! I know no stranger, I can talk freely to anyone! I hadn't been to the Y all last week, so it was great that I got off of my A** and made it happen. Now I am ready for the rest of the week! Zumba is definitely in the cards for the week! So fun, it didn't feel like a workout! emoticon

Hope you all have a splendid week! **skinny vibes** to ya!

Awww, thanks all! I had so much fun, and yes, it does get your heart racing..., for the good! :) Jessika, I will try to do that, probably not this week, unless we met there on Sunday. I have a funeral to go to tomorrow. :( That would be a blast, though! We'll plan it!! :)

Time to catch up..., on me! :)

Friday, February 25, 2011

So yesterday was not a very good day..., not with me, but with my son. emoticon Already, I was dealing with this UTI, which I am happy to say is on it's way out the door, but then there is my 5 year old that I thought had the same thing I was dealing with. Well, come to find out it wasn't the same thing, he had an "impacted colon". Good Lord! I'm sure some of you know what that is. And let me tell you, with a 5 year old that can't differentiate while having this, to go #1 or #2, is awful! Poor kiddo. Nothing that a good ole enema from the dr didn't cure. He is back in school now, feeling better...and lighter! emoticon

As for me, I have not made it to the gym but one day this week..., so frustrated. However, I plan on making that up in these 3 days ahead, got to get back my motivation. I KNOW I will feel better. I walked with a friend of mine on Wednesday, you know, when it felt like it was actually spring out, and we walked 2.5 miles, but it wasn't at the pace I do my elliptical. I felt good for getting out and walking, even if it felt like I had to pee the whole time! Hahahahaha emoticon

Have a terrific weekend! Sunday sounds delightful, so I guess I may not go to the Y to do my working out, but do it outside! emoticon

Keep up the great attitude! When my kids were little it was a madhouse! I finally got myself walking. My husband had to stand behind me and tell the kids Mommy needs to be healthy so let her exercise. Didn't always work, but it helped when he was supporting me!

Enjoy the sunshine and birds!

Oooh, sorry to hear about your son!! We just did surgery to basically remove the colon on a kitty cat this week who had a similar problem, but enemas did not help her... Glad to hear your son is on the mend!
