Psalm 38:15 For in You, O LORD, I hope; You will hear, O LORD my God.
I'm so thankful today that I can take my concerns to God and know that He hears. My hope is placed in Him.
My brother is undergoing open heart surgery today. My husband and I have driven almost 600 miles to be with him. I was not sure of his spiritual condition and have talked with him twice about giving his heart to Jesus. He has declined my offer to pray with him to receive Jesus. I can only put my trust in the Lord at this point and pray that all will be well with my brother.
Thank You, Lord, for watching over my brother as he goes through surgery today. I know that Your word says a man must be born again in order to see the kingdom of God. Today I will trust You to speak to my brother's heart and share Your love with him in a way that he will receive. I commit this concern unto You, Lord, knowing that You hear my heart's cry. Thank You, Lord, for Your healing power that flows through his body as I pray for him. I thank You in advance for healing him both physically and spiritually! In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
Today I choose to trust God! If you have not placed your trust in the Lord Jesus for your eternal security please pray and ask Him into your heart today. He will not fail to come into your life and make you spiritually whole. Jesus said in John 14:6 "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me." Salvation is a free gift, but a gift is not yours until you receive it. Jesus was made sin that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him. Open your heart to Him today and receive the gift of eternal life. If that is your heart's desire, pray with me this morning: "Lord Jesus, I believe that You are the Son of God; that You died for me to pay the price for my sin. I ask You to forgive me and come into my heart, to be my Savior and Lord. I believe that You died and rose again to secure my salvation. Thank You for saving me. I confess You now as my Savior and Lord. In Jesus name, Amen"!
If you prayed that prayer you now have eternal life. The Word says in Romans 10:13 "For whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved." He will help you through life's difficulties. He will give you peace in your heart when you go through trials and He will see you safely through into eternity when it comes time for you to cross over into Heaven.
God bless you. May you have a wonderful day in the Lord!

Deuteronomy 31:8 "And the LORD, He is the One who goes before you. He will be with you, He will not leave you nor forsake you; do not fear nor be dismayed."
I am so thankful that God has already traveled the road that I take. Not only has He gone before me, but He then says He will walk with me through those days. He will never leave me nor forsake me so I do not have to be afraid of anything. Do you realize that as we face tomorrow it is uncharted territory? It is somewhere that we have never been before. The Israelites were preparing to go into their Promised Land, but there were giants in the land and they had never been there before. There was much reason for them to be fearful. But God loves us so much and wants us to be assured of His presence with us so we will not be afraid of what tomorrow holds.
Today I am thankful that My God is with me. The challenges that I face He has already faced for me. He has taken the sting out of disappointments and gives me His peace in their place. He prepares me for the road ahead by assuring me that He will not leave me. He guarantees my success by His continuing presence. It's just as if you were preparing to send your child across a busy highway. You wouldn't allow that child to go by himself because you would want him to reach the other side safely. So you would take him by the hand and walk with him through the traffic to guide him safely to the other side. So, our Heavenly Father does the same for us.
Thank You, Lord, for preparing me for the challenges of this day! And thank You for going with me through it. I know that I can be successful in it because You are with me helping me to make the right choices, say and do the right things. Thank You for Your Presence that gives me peace.
Today I choose to face my day unafraid, ready to meet the challenges placed before me and excited about the success that I will have!

Philippians 4:13 AMP I have strength for all things in Christ Who empowers me [I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him Who infuses inner strength into me; I am self-sufficient in Christ's sufficiency].
I love the picture that the Amplified Bible gives me of this verse. In thinking about the power that I receive from Christ Jesus I picture a funnel at the top of my head with Jesus pouring His power into me. With that kind of an infusion how could we fail to win the battles that we are facing? We often think that it's up to us to fight in our own strength but the Word tells us that we do not have to be self-sufficient because we have Christ's sufficiency. That sheds a whole new light on the challenges of life. It's not up to us; we can depend on Christ Jesus to give us the strength to win.
The victory is guaranteed according to 1 Corinthians 15:57 "But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ."
So, how do we arrive at the victory? The battle is fought and won in the mind. If we think we can't do it, then guess what? We won't be able to. But if we come the the Lord asking for strength for the battle and then follow His directions to win, we will be guaranteed of the victory. This morning as I was praying I heard the Lord softly speaking to my heart "Exercise self-control when necessary so that you make right choices about what goes into your temple. You have been bought with the price of My blood. You are not your own. Your body houses My Spirit. Glorify Me in your body, Child. Don't allow your body to rule over you. You rule over it. Bring it into submission!"
Today I will be mindful that I need to feed my body the fuel it needs to sustain life. I will feed my body, not my emotions. Thank You, Lord, for the strength to fight and win this battle. To You be the glory, Father! Thank You for helping me make the right food choices. I yield myself to Your will for my life. Thank You for the victory! In Jesus Name, Amen.

Ecclesiastes 4:12 NLT A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken.
Facing challenges and obstacles can be frightening for those who are going through a battle. But to go through it alone is even worse. This scripture reminds me of the musk-oxen and how they protect their young. They form a circle with each musk-ox facing outward towards the enemy and then they place the little ones in the middle with all the others gathered around them. This should give us a picture of how we are to help those who are weak among us. We need to gather around them and fight for them as we stand strong through the battle.
The college course that I am currently taking is on prayer, not just on how to pray, but on how to fight spiritual battles for those who are struggling, weak and defenseless as well as how to defeat the devil when he comes against me in my own life. I am reminded of how important it is to have people around us to lift us up, stand in the gap for us when we are going through difficulties. God has given us strategic weapons to fight the battles and win! One of those weapons is the prayer of agreement. This is when two or more people gather together in agreement for scriptural prayers that the Lord has given them to fight a strategic battle in someone's life.
On a similar level, Spark People has given us the ability to gather together to encourage one another in reaching our goals, to share advice on techniques others have used to win, and to listen to frustrations and fears about the journey. I am thankful for the friends I have found on this site! Many of you have encouraged me even in the short time that I have been back here. I feel that I have a group of people that I can share with and likewise, encourage also.
Today I thank God that there is strength in numbers! Thank You, Lord, for placing people in my life to encourage me and offer suggestions for ways that I can improve my life's longevity. I pray that I might be a blessing to those around me!
And thank You, Lord, for one more pound gone!

John 8:12 Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, "I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life."
Today my heart is heavy because I see so many friends and family being attacked through sickness and disease, financial problems, health concerns, emotional and relational issues and I can see that this certainly is unstable times. And yet, Jesus has assured us that if we will follow Him we will walk in His light. He has the answers to all of life's problems. He definitely is the way, the truth and the life and if we follow Him He will instruct us in the way to take to avoid problems and give us the solutions to get out of problems we may already be experiencing.
I Corinthians 1:30 says "But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God--and righteousness and sanctification and redemption--". Jesus has become wisdom for us; He doesn't just have wisdom to give us, He is that wisdom. The more that we come to know Jesus the more wisdom we will have. Then we are told in James 1:5 that if we lack wisdom we can ask God for it and He will give it to us liberally and without reproach. God has made wisdom readily accessible to us for the asking. He has enabled us through our relationship with Christ Jesus to walk in the light of His wisdom rather than the darkness of our limited understanding in how to handle the arrows of the enemy that are constantly being fired at us to destroy us.
So, in light of all that, in what areas do you need wisdom? I was thinking about preventing health concerns yesterday and how the choices that I make regarding what I put into my body affects how my body deals with illness. Some foods build up the immune system and some tear it down. I can choose Ritz Fudge crackers, two for 80 calories or I can choose a banana for approximately the same calorie count. One will fuel my body and the other will feed my emotions. Which would be better for me? I have heard that since our taste buds are in our tongues, the only thing that our stomachs know is "am I full or empty?". In that case, for the most part, we feed our taste buds and our emotions. The stomach will send the signal to the brain that it is satisfied when it is filled. It doesn't know the difference between being filled with good food or empty calories. It is then that as I pray for wisdom, study the resources of those more knowledgeable than me in the area of nutrition and apply what I learn that I will be successful; that I will walk in the light and not in darkness.
Today I choose to walk in God's light, to seek His wisdom and to eat to live and not live to eat!
