Children say the darnedest things!!!!!!!!

Monday, January 17, 2011

I have found that children are wonderful beings. As i served my 3 lil one's lunch. Xavier (8), Triston(7) and Navaeh (5) were having a conversation. Triston asked me if i could come volunteer at his school, so i said sure and walked out the kitchen. I hear X say T everyone is going to make fun of you if you let mom come to the school, T says no they aren't and X is like yes, they are going to say your mom is so fat. I didn't know what to say. I knew that my weight was an issue to my children, but i didn't realize it until that moment. It gets so much better than that. My daughter decides she needs to give me a pep talk, so she says " Mom just because you are fat doesn't mean I don't love you, you are pretty on the inside."

Now what do I say after that???? any advice cause i could sure use it. emoticon

Kids ...you just have to love them! Maybe you could get them to help with your motivation to lose weight.

I think it's important for your children to know that you are working towards making yourself healthier and that when they make comments like that it really hurts your feelings. I have a 5 year old as well and I've found that strangely enough the truth tends to be the best thing to tell him. Do you involve your kids in your workouts? If they are involved by going on walks with you or riding bikes (or riding bikes while you walk) they might see things differently.

I don't know if that was exactly *advice* but just keep your head up!

Why can't I stay motivated

Thursday, April 22, 2010

I have been trying so hard to stay focused. I want to lose weight but i just can't seem to stay focus enough. I do try to do a couple arm excercises, but that seems to be all i can fit in. This is driving me crazy. It's so easy to gain weight, but hard to take it off. To make matters worse my DR suggested i stop drinking coca-cola or caffiene in general emoticon. This is so hard, day 3 with no soda/pop emoticon

I used to drink Coke all the time. Couldn't not have it. Until I read a snippet in some French diet book...something about the chemicals and acids in the soda. Now, I don't know how accurate that statement was, but it got me to thinking about the science fair project where kids 'dissolve' their teeth in Coke. Yeah, baby teeth, but still!
Did these distract me permanently - nope. But knowing that I had been off of Coke (just to be clear - Coca Cola, full lead) for months at a time, I knew it was doable. And I am off of it again - my goodness, with the amount I have to lose and the amount of exercise it would take to work it off... It's a decision - and a good one. Not necessarily easy, but find what will do it for you.

Good luck - I've been there and I appreciate what you are going through. You can do it!

Oh my, YES! Stop drinking the pop especially!
Sometimes if you don't see any visible progress it becomes hard to stay motivated.
Take each as it comes. One workout at a time. Focus on getting through that ONE workout. Not just getting through it, but PERFECTING that workout! You will see progress! THAT will be your motivation!

If you need anything, motivation, information, inspiration, or just a good swift kick in the pants, just look me up. I am on here all day off and on, so don't hesitate. By the way, it was good to see you in our huddle on the Real Eating Without Compromise team today. I hope you come back and post on the threads, and join in the weekly mini challenges. ---Sherry

Going the distance is very hard for me too. I loose my focus when in my mind I am not seeing enough results. Then I have thrown in the towel and given up. I am working on making a lifestyle change-eating healthy and being more active. It sure isn't easy for me given I have been inactive most of my life. I wish I had an easy fix, but when we try and change our minds want us to do otherwise. We must perservere. Have you tried doing the vision collage and focusing on the results you want? Just a suggestion. Good luck! emoticon

Try to find ways to make working out fun for you. If your problem is motivation, maybe your just bored with what your doing. This is how I stay motivated to exercide, I love music, so I listen to some of my fvorite song while working out and before you know it I'm done. The fe times I forgot my music, I barely lasted 30 minutes working out. So try to find ways to making working out more enjoyable and I quarantee you, you will find time to exercise. Although cutting back on soda is a good thing you may want to cut back slowly to prevent feeling deprived and possibly binging one day. congrats on making it 3 days without having one. Good luck on your wieght loss journey. emoticon

Giving up soda is a plus......you'll lose weight without trying. As far as not being motivated you have to not think of this as a diet, but a change for a better you. In order to get to where you want to be you have to make changes. Think of it this way, if you eat the wrong things your on a weight gain diet or lifestyle. You if embrace working out you may have fun and become fit. In order to accomplish anything you have to have a drive that will give you the stamina to complete your goal. If it's meant to be it's up to you. emoticon

Giving up pop was hard for me too; the last pop I've had in 18 months is ginger ale and that's only when I'm sick, so you can do it!

Hang in there! Your more woman than I am. When I was working and my hubby was staying home, he either had dinner ready or he bought dinner! I refused to cook!! I'd be more angry than depressed. Of course, what goes around does come back around.

Awwwww Pooh!(term of endearment) I've been there too. You're tired and hungry and everyone in the house is looking to you
for dinner. I usually give mine peanut butter and jelly sandwiches with a glass of milk and an apple or whatever fruit we have. Keep it simple. Hang in there.

Miami

Friday, December 04, 2009

I am going to Miami in January and i would love to lose 26 lbs. My family has not seen me in 4 years and i want to look a little slimmer and be able to keep up with them without getting tired and having to sit down. I chose 26 lbs because that is 10% of my total weight and i know i will feel a lot better with off. I am tired of being tired.

Experts say losing 1-2 pnd a week is average with excercise and diet. So i would be on track.

I CAN DO IT

Friday, July 10, 2009

I have had some recent events in my life that began last week. Namely my husband was talking to a friend about my weight and i did not realize how he viewed my weight. Of course i had to curse him out, but after that i realized that he was right, i did let myself go and i can no longer blame it on my children, my youngest just turned 4 on Wednesday. After calming down, i decided that it was time for me to get back on track, but this time i am making sure i do not let life get in the way. I have started walking again and i realized how much i missed doing that. That's the only time i have to myself. My oldest son plays football so i have been going with him to practice instead of sitting on the bench i am now walking and jogging around the track.

I am still not talking to my husband; lol. I am grateful that he has brought these things to my attention so that i can work on self improvement. My motto is " i WILL DO IT"
