Where did 2011 go?

Wednesday, December 28, 2011

9:30pm

Where did 2011 go? It seems like only yesterday we just started the year. This year we had surprises. I got a new sister-in-law in June, a friend getting hit by a train north of town 10 days before Thanksgiving, 2 classmates losing their fathers this year (both men were truck drivers), and finding out that I'm going to be a great aunt in May on Thanksgiving. What else is going to happen between now and New Years in this family and to my friends.

Hope that everyone had a great Christmas. My dad and I went to my aunt's house 11 miles south of here. It takes 15 minutes to get there. We ate with her. Her husband was my dad's brother. Her and dad had ham and I had the sides as my meal. Then we went to my stepcousin's house (my stepcousin's stepdad is my dad's oldest brother) to deliver Christmas gifts. Still have more Christmas gifts. 1 stays here in town, 2 to the north, and 2 to the south even the 2 are in the same bag since it's going to the same place. A couple that my dad worked with in Macomb, IL, gets the one that has two in the same bag. The two that goes to the north goes to my aunt and uncle in Galesburg, IL,. They're my mom's brother and sister-in-law. Should of taken those two with us when we went to Galesburg but we were in a hurry to get up there to get the car serviced and I needed to get some more yarn for the baby afghan that I'm working on.

I'm going to be posting more baby afghans on here whenever I get them onto the computer. There will be 3 that I made from the beginning and 1 that I just finished up. My dad's oldest brother gave me a couple of afghans that weren't 100% done. One that I finished up and gave the afghan to him and the other is done but that is going to be given to my youngest niece for the baby since the colors are pastels and perfect for a baby. It has yellow, purple, white. and turqouise. It's the perfect size for a crib. It has a lot of rows and has at least 8 squares per row. It may have 6 to 7 rows with at least. I am not sure. Never counted. It reminds me of the one that I made that has black, white, red, gold, beige, black with white, and white with black afghan but in pastels and isn't as thick of yarn.

Does anyone have any resolutions besides losing weight? That is one big one for me but the others is learn a new hobby (may get that one done before the New Year), keep up the house cleaning (starting to fall back on some things), and a few other things. I hope that dad helps me on one of them and you can guess on one of them. My weight. If he doesn't, I'm going to get on his butt and have him help. He keeps on eating things in front of me that aren't good for him and for me and I get to the point where I end up ordering it. Like tonight he ordered fried chicken and I ended up ordering french fries. I've lost a pound since ending T.O.M but that's it. I may have lost another pound or two but I'm not holding my breath on that one.

I'm going to ask all you ladies out there to be sure this isn't me that is having this problem and I may of asked this already. Does anyone have a belly ache before, sometimes during, and after a T.O.M. that comes without warning? Does it come at night on foods that are either good or not so good for you that you're splurging on? It varies with me on certain T.O.M.s but not all of them and sometimes the pain and length of times too it happens. I don't drink any kind of soda pop when I'm on T.O.M because it extends it a few days or more. The only way I can get rid of it is antiacids or Sierra Mist either regular or diet depending on what I can get a hold of at the time or what's on sale. I 'm wondering since I'm getting over T.O.M and I've been fighting a belly ache off and on today. I had one this morning before breakfast and got rid of it and then I got one tonight. Thought that I got rid of it before we got home when I took what dad and I usually take but it came back. I sucked on a candy cane that I got in a package of 12 (I paid a dollar for at Target) and it has helped some but not enough to where it's 100% gone. It's to where I can sleep.

I do remember having stomach pains with TOM but I didn't realize how much other things were also related to it. I was seeing a psychologist and he told me to do a paper on it at university for Women's Studies...I thought he was being silly. But, I did it and it was one of the best presentations I ever did, lots of research and questions and learning and interaction at the class too. I even designed a TOM Symptom Chart that helped me realize what were symptoms and when to expect them. Ginger is also good for stomach pains.
What hobby are you thinking of for your new one? I had a new g.d. last April 20 and I went crazy with knitting/crocheting afghans and little hats. Did you see the little hats they sell at baby boutiques... They're just those little skullcap like things but then they sew a button on them and they include a couple of crocheted flowers that will fit onto the button. They're crazy expensive, but so cute. I made a couple of them recently now that I know what size her head it..
So, do you know if you're going to be an auntie to a boy or a girl yet?

Also, a thought, preplanning your meals... even cooking them ahead of time, like after supper tonite discuss with dad what he might like for tomorrow and then make it so it's ready and you won't be sitting around ordering out cuz you're hungry...just a thought!

Here's to a healthy, successful New Year! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Finally has plans for Christmas

Friday, December 23, 2011

10:08pm

Finally got plans for Christmas Day. My aunt in Bushnell, IL (15 minutes south of where I live) invited me and my dad to her house for a meal since it was only going to her at home. Her 4 remaining boys (her oldest died over 20 years ago) are going to be elsewhere on Christmas even though one lives a town between us and her. That's good because we have a gift for her and all the pieces has something she collects. Snowmen. 3 of the pieces are from Target and the last piece is from JC Penney's. All fit into one bag. So easy transport.

I didn't get too far on my two tone green baby afghan today. The yarn is a little stiff today but when I get it done and washed, it'll soften up.

My T.O.M is slowing down some. Hey AMBERZADE, I hear ya on not going anywhere while on it. I even hate getting into a vehicle no matter ther type. And don't get me on doing my exercises. Talk about opening the flood gates. When I get a little sweaty, I better hit the bathroom as soon as I get off of the treadmill and stationary bike and there better be no one in the bathroom if they don't have stalls. I still wear pads and I can fill up 2 or 3 (give or take on a pad) on one workout because of the flow. It seems like I drank 2 or 3 gallons of water while working out. I better take like Excederin or Tylenol while on T.O.M because somehow it helps a whole lot better than those pills that they have out that helps during T.O.M. . Especially on my flow and the bloat. Excederin helps a whole lot better than Tylenol especially with the flow and bloat. Just wish that I had something for the tiredness. I usually get tired before I want to get tired. It is like when I was still eating meat.

The holidays and T.O.M

Friday, December 23, 2011

9:27pm

I hate being on T.O.M when it's the holidays. I gained 4 pounds since the beginning of the week. I went from 213 pounds to 217 pounds. I don't usually gain that much weight when I'm on it. Not even when I have snacks or 3 meals a day. It usually stays the same or I gain at least half of what I did on this period. And having to put up with the flow isn't the greatest if we have to go somewhere for Christmas. So far I have no idea if we're going to anyone's house for Christmas yet. I just started T.O.M yesterday morning. Hopefully either tomorrow or Sunday I can get it over with and just be done with it for a month.

I finished another baby afghan today that I started Monday. It's a carrot and cornmeal colored one that I got the yarn for on my birthday. Carrot is an orange red color and it's the main color and the cornmeal is a yellow color and it's the accent color. I'm making a two tone green one and the next one is a two tone brown one. These three afghans will be put on here when I get them done. I just washed and dried the one that I finished. I will be getting it out of the dryer here in a bit and getting a photo of it. And I am going to put it away with the other afghan and the baby cubes that I made. After I get the one that I' on now and the two tone brown afghan, I'm going to work on my HUGE wall hanging in counted cross stitch. It's 2.5 yards by 60 inches and it'll have the baby's name, weight, length and birthdate on it.

Everyone have a great holiday and make sure you eat healthy and no bad stuff.

I'm sorry you're suffering from your TOM during Christmas. I can definitely relate. I couldn't go anywhere when I had mine. Thankfully I don't have it anymore.

I crochet and knit too! But you sound like you really know what you're doing. I bet they look really great.

Thanks for the birthday wishes last week

Tuesday, December 20, 2011

4:40pm

Thanks to everyone for telling me Happy Birthday. We went out to supper that night to our usual spot and someone paid for our meal and we kind of know who it was even though the waitress said that she couldn't tell us who.

I have the pictures of the afghan that I was talking about posted in my photo gallery along with a picture of the baby cube and baby clothes that I got for my youngest niece. I'm making more afghans and I will post more later. If you want to see the pics of the stuff, go to my photo gallery and look at them. I have a hard time posting pics onto the blog anyway. I can but they don't show up sometimes.

My soon to be 8 month old cat Bob is sitting in my lap giving himself a bath and he has his left front paw on my right hand. He jumped up into my lap. He's watching the screen while I am typing. If I holler at my dad to come to take a photo, he'll be down. He's spoiled rotten. I think that he thinks he's my cat and he slowly starting to get use to dad. He's gotten up with dad in his recliner.

Hope that everyone has a safe and HEALTHY Christmas.

Yikes I'll be 34 years old in 3 days

Saturday, December 10, 2011

10:01pm

Well, my birthday is coming up in 3 days and I'll be 34 years old. I'll be seeing my younger brother Michael (the one that got married back in June) on Monday while him and his mom are headed up to Minnesota to take pics of our oldest brother's youngest daughter Heather's senior pictures. Heather is the one that will be having a baby this coming May. It doesn't seem possible that Heather is a senior in high school this year. Her and her sister Melinda (Melinda graduated in 2010) and two brother Nick and Matt are all homeschooled. I'm going to have Michael take the baby clothes that I got at Target up there since the onesie is a newborn size and the socks will come in handy too. But not anything else I'm going to be making.

I'm making a granny square baby afghan with 49 3 row granny squares. There are 5 colors but 7 colors. Red (the brand calls it cardnial), gold, beige, white and black. There are solid white granny squares, solid black granny squares, white with a black row granny square and a black with a white row granny square. The two reverse ones are the same amount of rows ad the other 5 squares but just reversed. I got all the squares done a week ago tonight and I finished up sewing the rows and squares together I think yesterday or the day before yesterday. I used crochet thread to sew them together and now single crocheting over the seams where the thread is at. I'm going to make baby toys next with black and white granny squares but I'm not going ot use the thread on those. I'm going to crochet those together. They're going to be cubes and there will be 8 little bells (big enough to where they won't go through the stitches) in each corner. The afghan and cubes are my design but easy. I'll be making more stuff and have it done before the baby comes. After Christmas I'm going to learn how to use my mom's sewing machine from the gal that taught me how to crochet and some easy patterns to do on the machine.

You are still a baby! I just turned 50 the other day and losing weight has made me feel younger. So when you get to goal you will revert back to your teens! So live it up have a good birthday and splurge on something non food wise such as a massage, manicure or a new hairdo. emoticon

Well, Happy Birthday first off! I'm a lot closer to 2 x 34, so you sounds pretty young to me.

Well, sounds like you have certainly learned how to crochet very well, sounds like it will be pretty sharp... My g.d. was born April 20this year, and depending on the weather and size of the baby at birth, that will determine what kind of clothes they will need. so you still don't know if it's a girl or a boy? If you get a chance, the ripple afghan is very easy and beautiful... I made mine in white, blue, pink and mint... I only made it big enough to cover a crib, so it's good to take for over the car seat too... and I feel proud every time I see dd use it...
