Trying to think of exercises to break plateau

I'm trying to think of some exercises to do to break my plateau of weighing 207 pounds. I guess my body is bored with the exercises that I've been doing and that's why I've plateaued. I will be walking with my friend that I was going to get a hold of via Facebook and she will be walking wih me. Monday evening will be the first time.

My youngest niece is doing better. To keep the swelling down due to the pregnancy, she swims. She also has a job working for Papa John's. I found out about these 2 things yesterday when I was texting her mom. But all and all, she's doing fine.

It's a cold morning so I'm not going to take the dog for walks. If we're not busy later and it's warmer, I will then. But not now. It's 51 degrees outside.


I had a somewhat of a great lunch and an excellent supper. But after I ate both meals, I felt like I ate too much.

Today would of ben a great day if my TOM wasn't causing me to day near the bathroom. Plus my cramps were hurting. No amount of walking could of helped. I think that I need to cut back on the caffine in the afternoon because my flow is heavy then.


Found a bike helmet today but can't afford it. It is at Target and they want $22.29 for it and it matches my bike perfectly. It has flowers on it but you have to see them in the right light. I got a photo of it.

I still haven't sold my swimsuit yet. If I do get another one, it'll be in the size I'm wearing not a size bigger like I've heard. I still have my old one from when I was either in junior high or high school but I'm not sure if it'll fit. I will see after I'm over TOM before I try it on. I will take a phot o of me in it and hopefully (if I look okay in it) post it.

My dad is doing something that he's been needing. Shave his whiskers and trim his beard and mustache. He was starting to look like Grizzly Adams.

I forgot to ask. Does anyone have any exercises that I could do besides workout DVDs, treadmills, bikes (stationary and regular bikes), walking, exercise ball, or joining a gym (we go to a local hospital to do the same thing)? I'm running out of ideas. Can't run yet since I'm not fit enough for it yet and plus my asthma. I just need to add one or two things to my exercising to break this stupid plateau.

I can't believ ethat tomorrow is the start of a whole new month. It seems like only yesterday we started 2012. I hope that the rest of the year doesn't go fast. Before you know it, my grandniece will be born in May, county fair in Minnesota will be here in July, and anything else that may happen.

    I don't know what workout DVD's you have, so . . . But have you tried any of Leslie Sansone's Walk at Home DVD's? I love them!

Also, do you do any strength training. Some strength training is a great mix in with cardio. Strength builds muscle, and muscle has a high metabolism.

51 degrees to me is perfect walking temperature. If it gets too hot, then I get too hot and I think my performance goes down and I don't get as good a workout.

    You could try wall push ups, leg lifts, free weights (I use 5lbs), squats, lunges.......

Took the bike for a short ride but not 100% ready for a longer ride yet

Took my new bike for a short ride today but I'm not 100% ready for a longer ride yet. For one, I need a helmet to take it for a longer ride. I don't feel safe without it. Saw one at Target but I'm not sure if I want to pay $22.29 for it though. It's perfect to wear with my bike. I had to lower the seat because it was really high where we had it. It's a comfortable ride an all but I'm not going to ride it until I get a helmet to wear while riding it. The seat is comfortable. And the bike is going to take getting use to with it being a 24 speed bike. But I did get a couple of pictures of the bike with the seat on it. I'll show it to people when I see them.

My T.O.M is really slowing down. I know that it won't be long until it's over because I'm not peeing as much and the really heavy times are about midday. Plus I get upset stomachs sometimes after a meal at night. Tonight I did have an upset stomach but it cleared up before I could take anything for it. Plus its taking me longer to get tired. I am tired right now while working on this blog.

I'm still stuck at 207 pounds. I am hoping to do some exercises but if I'm going to do a DVD workout, I'll have to do it in my room because the DVD player in the living room isn't working. Can't do it on the DVDs on the computer because the room the computer is in is a mess. I am hoping to do some more exercises soon so I can get some more weight off. If it is warm enough in the morning after I feed the pets to take the dog for a walk, I will take her for one. It may help waking me up in the morning and she's been asking for one. But there are calls for rain tonight so I might not be able to walk if it is still raining when it's time to go for a walk. I told my dad that after I get to my goal weight (didn't tell him what it was), I was going to stick to it since it was the only weightloss plan that has really helped me in losing weight. All the other weight loss plans the most that I've lost was 25 pounds max. This one I've lost 33 pounds and I'm still going whenever I get down to where I want to be.

Today is my sister-in-law Cheri's birthday. She's in Minnesota and the one that introduced me to SparkPeople.

  Pay for the helmet. Its $22.29 to protect your brain from injury in the event of a fall. I hope it wont happen but isnt it better to know that your noggin is protected in the event that it does?

    I'd like to add bike riding into my list of exercises, but I don't have a bike, and don't really have a good place to bike.

    Bike riding is fun...I couldn't go very far last summer and slowly worked my way up. Now I will be restarting again this year as last year I was in better shape..There are some lovely trails around here..

Got new seat on bike but might not get to ride it until weekend

You're probably wondering why I can't ride my bike tomorrow instead of waiting for the weekend. Well, according to the weather report we are suppose to be getting rain and storms tomorrow. If we don't get any rain and storms tomorrow, I will test ride the bik. If we do, I'll wait until Sunday when we are going to be sunny and 83 for the high. I will post pics of the bike with the seat on it when I get pics of it.

My weight hasn't moved in a while. I'm still at 207 pounds. I thought that I would be a lot closer to 200 pounds by now. Maybe when I start using my bike (dad thinks its a 24 speed bike since it has 3 extra speeds on one side and 8 on the other) I may lose some weight. I'm hoping to be under 200 pounds by the time my grandniece is born in May and by July when we go up to the county fair both in Minnesota. It's been over 20 years since I've been up there under 200 pounds. When my oldest brother and his wife got married in December 1990, I weighed 182 pounds and I was in the 6th grade. I'm 25 pounds heavier than I was then. I wouldn't mind being at 182 pounds in July. When my grandniece gets older, I want to be chasing her around when she's old enough to do that.

My T.O.M has been both heavy and light today. It was really heavy when I wsa in the shower. I have felt miserable in both cramps and bloat to the point where anything I did was miserable. Except for eating. That me bored espeically at supper.

I'm going to post on a friend's Facebook page to see if she would like to go walking with or without the kids when she's not too busy. If she wanted, we could wait until the hubby got home from work and he can watch the kids and dogs (they have 2 dogs and 3 kids) while we went for a walk. It would take to long for either one of us to walk to the other's house (less than 5 minutes) and we could walk. I'll do that after I'm done here. I know that she wants to lose some weight after having 3 kids under 12 years old. My weight is been eating poorly over the years.

Looks like my oldest niece Melinda's graduation from community college is going to be in the evening. Like 7:30pm. Never been to one at night. Hope the high school gym that they're holding the graduation at isn't like the one at my mom's high school. Hot and cramped. Got a few nosebleeds there.

    I hope you get some good weather for bike riding. The walk with your friend sounds great, too. I wish I lived near someone who would walk with me.

You can make it under 200 pounds by summer. I hadn't been under 200 for a long time, but I stuck with SP and now I weigh under 160.

Why does eating food has to feel like a chore when it's not?

Why does eating food have to feel like a chore when you know you need it? I mean, there are times whey you are hungry but don't feel like eating. I was like that yesterday and today. I didn't realize it until this afternoon when I got some Oreo cookies at Target (a single serving size package). At first I really didn't want them due to the headache. But I did have them. The same thing happened tonight at supper after I ate my cottage cheese. When the waitress brought out the rest of our meals. I didn't want to eat at first but I did. I ate it slowly to almost had the waitress bring a to go box.

I got a seat for my bike today. It's about $1.50 cheaper than the cheapest bike seat at Target. The hole where it hooks onto the shaft of the bike maybe small but I can get it to fit. Plus its the right look for the bike. I will have a pic of the bike with the seat on it when I get the seat on.

Got 2 sympathy cards today. One for my cousin's widow and one for my other cousin (brother to the cousin who passed away on Monday). It was the hardest thing to do. We also got 2 birthday cards for my sister-in-law in MN (she's the one that introduced me to SparkPeople). Her birthday is Friday.

My T.O.M has started this morning. No wonder my lower back, mood swings, being tired, and headaches are here. Plus feeling warm and constantly peein was also a sign.

Got some socks for my niece to put onto my grandniece when she's born. Two pink ones in different shades of pink and a pair of purple ones. Got them on sale for $0.90 for each pair when they're $1.00 a pair. So I save $0.30 for all 3 pairs. It would of cost me over $3.00 for all 3 pairs but it cost me $2.93 for all 3 pairs.I need to get a pic of the socks together.

    Sometimes I just get tired of thinking about what I'm going to eat. And some days making a simple grilled cheese or pouring a bowl of cereal would make me terribly happy. I'm hoping the warmer weather will get me back on the right path with more salads and grilled meats and vegetables.

    Hopethe bike works out and you enjoy. There are days that I don't feel like eating also, but find if I skip a meal then I over eat later so need tp keep on track. I have the thought in my head of eating nothing white. This was suggested on the Biggest Loser. This means no sugar, no flour, no potatoes,and no white bread. Course I am not a big bread eater and potatoe eater anyway so no problem with them. A cookie would taste good but that would kick the sweet tooth in so best to leave it alone. My excuse for not eating them is that I can't have chocolate now because it makes me sick with my esphagus problem so it makes me leave them alone.

Sounds exciting with a new baby coming. So much cute things to buy. Glad you got them at a good price.

Am surprised that I didn't bindge eat today

I'm surprised that I didn't bindge eat today because my cousin passed away yesterday. Thought that I would today because he was one of the very few people on my mom's side of the family left. But I ate like I should minus the snacks (too full from my 3 main meals to have a snack or dessert). So hopefully what I did today does show a good sign of weight loss or no gain. I'm going to see how I do in the morning and I will let everyone know tomorrow in a blog and status.

We got a free breakfast this morning from one of the hospitals in Peoria. They did blood tests (for free) to check our cholesterol and do our blood pressure. Pressure was good (125/80) but my cholesterol is something to talk about. Some of them went up and some went down lower than they were. I'm not going to post those. Let's just say that I need to work on those numbers.

Did find out when they're going to have the funeral for my cousin. They're going to have a graveside service for him a month from today (4-27-11). Don't know what time it's going to be held but the date is all I know. He's going to be buried near his mom.

I know that I'm getting close to T.O.M because I've been having to go to the bathroom a lot and pee. So it won't be too much longer until I'm on it. Plus my legs are bloated, my back was killing me today, and I'm a little tired. Let's hope that I'm not as tired as I was the last period.

    I also am happy to not have to go thru the TOM. I had lots of problems with it also. I would skip months then be in so much pain then I had it, couldn't get out of bed. After having my kids it helped to straighten it our some. Then went thru meapause at 38. Which was very early. Sounds like me, that the cholesterol has to be brought under control. I wil go in a few months to have my checked again. Hopeing it will be down with my good eating now.

Keep up the good work. Don't let TOM get you down. I always craved Chocolate when it was that time of month. emoticon

    Well, that is one thing I should remember to appreciate about being too old to that TTOM anymore... I used to have a rough time too. But, if you are peeing a lot, that's great, it means you are not retaining fluids....

Good thing you realized that the meat was causng you pain, so that's a good enough reason to be vegetarian. I had to give up beef and milk for about 10 years myself and it stopped all the stomach attack issues I was having.

sorry to hear about your cousin. I am leaving to go home and spend time with my mother - my father died a week ago tomorrow.

You know if your HDL is low, you can exercise and make it "happy" and that in turn improves your overall cholesterol ratio. I read today too that metamucil is good for lowering cholesterol. I have several cans of it and should be putting it into my smoothies too, extra fibre and it lowers cholesterol, win-win!!
